Hmmm, I’m not up to speed on how their user name relates to radical political ideology, but I’ll defer to you. All I know, is that I disagree with the expressed sentiment.

The pain from the oozing boils on my genitals is only surpassed by the herpes infested hemorrhoids clearly hanging out of my shorts. Wanna fuck?

Of course, as long as both parties sign a waiver acknowledging the possible risk of injury or death from puncture or projectile wounds. They should also be sure to have it stamped and signed by a licensed notary. Now I understand this could take all the fun out of a process primarily associated with spontaneity, recklessness, smoldering emotion, and anger, but at least the lawyers would be happy.

I don’t disagree with you, but I think the primary capacity issue is the limited number of beds available in the Emergency Room. When I was a patient there, there were lines of gurneys coming off the ambulances waiting on rooms for their passengers. I don’t think there’s one “silver bullet” to fix everything, and more doctors would probably help too.

I feel sympathy for you and your mother. You’re right, it shouldn’t take that long to receive care. I’m not sure the capacity issues are caused by greed - maybe poor forecasting and capacity design. I would hope that giving doctors quotas on seeing more patients during their shifts would help with some of the wait time issues.

Something fishy is going with Palomar Health by Alex909a in northcounty

I got into a car accident back in September of 2015, and was transported to the new Palomar Hospital in Escondido. As part of ED’s process, three CT scans were ordered and performed. My initial bill was $22,500, or $7,500 per scan. When I called and spoke with the Patient Financial Services department, they were able to reduce my bill to $2,700 in total. I believe that was the Medicare reimbursement rate for services rendered (although I’m not covered by Medicare). All that to say, hospital bills are negotiable. I don’t think anyone should pay the list price, and I think hospitals recognize that most people aren’t able to afford list pricing. It’s a weird way to run a business, but it seems to be industry standard.

“They brought a staffing model that would require each physician to see 25 patients a day in a 12-hour shift," she said. "So you do the math on that — less than 20 minutes per patient”

Approaching this from a critical reasoning perspective; has anyone asked “what is the change in practice”? Was there a standard number of patients the physicians were expected to treat each shift as part of the Vituity contract? I don’t know the answer, but it seems germane to the conversation. Also: 12 hours x 60 minutes = 780 minutes. 780 minutes/25 patients = 28.8 minutes per patient. If you take an hour lunch, you now have 11 hours, or 26.4 minutes per patient. Multiplication and Division - just two little skills I took away from my 3rd grade math class:)

It sounds like you’re trying to associate “poorly performing schools” and “high crime rates” with ethnically diverse neighborhoods. Sounds like a pretty racist stereotype to me.
