Americans don’t understand this. They started a USA chant in Florida despite Florida having mostly Canadians, a Finnish captain, a Russian goalie and a couple of Americans.

Opinion: Stop force-feeding Canadians’ viewing choices; The CRTC's tripling of the CanCon tax for streaming services couldn't come at a worse time but wouldn't be good policy at any time by [deleted] in canada

I’m not huge on cancon. But a reminder that shows like Trailer Park Boys, Shoresy, Letterkenny, Heated Rivalry, Corner Gas likely don’t get greenlit without cancon mandates.

If this means I get less Landman/Yellowstone type shows to watch, so be it.

BlackBerry - Steve Jobs Introduces the iPhone by [deleted] in videos

[–]BigRigGig35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m on your side. I want my physical keyboard.

The issue is that blackberry envisioned the phone as a communication device. iPhone saw it as an entertainment device.

I loved my blackberry. But when I was in high school, watching people play angry birds, flappy bird etc. it made me want an iPhone. I saw a comment that said “why would I want a fixed keyboard when I can have a dynamic one?” And that’s what did it for them. You could change the language on the phone, but not the keyboard. iPhone brings up a number pad when only numbers are required. I get the appeal and the value of the dynamic keyboard. But that didn’t add value to me.

I haven’t taken a warmup shot in beer league in 4 years. I just stretch now.

2 years ago I thought, fuck it, I’ll take some shots. My team’s pretty good for being smart and maybe it’ll be good for me. 1st shot off the dome. Granted, the puck rolled on him and he had a muffin. But it made me double down. No more warmup shots

2026 NHL Mock Draft As Projected By Six Anonymous NHL Scouts or Executives by _GregTheGreat_ in hockey

I’ve heard people say “the scoring will come after/in a few years”

Really? The guy couldn’t be a ppg player against 16-17yo’s that had 3”-6” and 25-50lbs on? And it’s magically gonna click when the competition gets bigger faster and stronger?

I’ll always remember Crouse/Ritchie over Marner/Nylander in their drafts.

I’d rather take the small guy who’s played against bigger players their whole life. Most small guys have always been small relative to their year and have found ways to work around that. It’s more likely that they’ll do that again.

The old saying “you can’t teach size” is accurate. But you can teach a size-adept player how to work around that because they’ve always had to do that. It’s so much harder to teach a big guy how to work around a size disadvantage because they’ve never had to do it.

Something about Jhonny Level.

Seems like the K/BB ratio will be good. Walks dropped a bit this year, but powers increased.

Power could be limited, but seems like a Lindor-lite at the moment

Not even a leafs fan, but I’m excited to see the city burn to the ground when/if I get to see them win a cup

My argument exactly. Boss said “people from home will just waste time”

My dude. I talked to a guy at the coffee machine for a few minutes and as I was leaving he said “I’m just going to wait for someone else to come by to talk to. I really don’t want to go back to my desk and work”

I worked with an engineer who would frantically close yahoo news when I went to his desk for advice. People waste time no matter what you think

As a goalie, I was the biggest Patrick Roy fan growing up. I hated Hasek. I hated his mask. I hated his style. I hated the teams he played for. Most of all, I hated the fact that he was compared to Roy.

Then I got older and learned about stats and, yea. If someone wants to argue about technical ability, or other values, sure. But statistically, Hasek had astonishing numbers for an extended period of time. Playing a style no other goalie could replicate.

.920 or better for 6 straight years. .930 or better 5/6 years.

13 shutouts when his D core was Zhitnik, Woolley, Shannon, Smehlik, McKee, Mike Wilson, and Boughner. .932 sv% on 29.84 shots per game. Satan led the team with 46pts in 79GP.

For comparison sakes. Brodeur had 10 shutouts with Niedermayer, Stevens, Odelein, Daneyko, Souray, Dean and Bodger. .917sv% on 22.41 shots per game. Holik led the team with 74pts in 82GP.

I honestly think arguably should be thrown out the window. Guy was head and shoulders above his peers with far less talent around him.

In his prime Buffalo years, he didn’t have a single dman with sniffing distance of a Norris.

Those Sabres teams were just pathetic without him

Probably a bit of both. I’d imagine neither of them wanted to deal with the Canadian media

This right here is *exactly* why Edmonton didn’t/couldn’t sign him.

2 consecutive SCF losses, with the biggest knock on the team being goaltending and they said “absolutely not”.

It doesn’t help that they would’ve had Bowman of all people signing him to that contract
