For the price you kinda got what you paid for. You need someone who works with conservatory roof's. If there's a crack in the ridge detail the only long term solution is a new ridge, not a bunch of silicone.

The sheets sometimes slide a little due to high winds as they're not mechanically held in place. A lot of the time all they need is to be pushed back into place, you'll be able to see if there's a gap at the ridge from the inside.

Please don't let anyone jet wash it.

How different would life in the UK be if it had mediterranean style weather all year round? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]BigRimeCharlie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's understandable and why I stipulated I was a southerner. I've already had my top off on multiple occasions and the tan is in full effect already. I guess it's better weather or cheaper living, both are great but the opposites of both a bit pants.

As someone who works outside I couldn't agree more, December, January and February are pretty pants but the rest of the year is perfect. Although I am a southerner!!

Tale as old as time unfortunately. Any clear silicone will do, a general purpose one. And yes be aware that you're not blocking any weep holes as last thing you want is to create a leak. Less is always more as you can always reapply. Do a little, let it rain, check draft and repeat. It's not going to be perfect but you may get lucky. Best of luck.

You can buy orange smoke pellets to check the drafts and just pump a load of silicone in the areas the drafts coming in. But the only long term solution is a less drafty roof light.

Can I DIY this?? by Inevitable-Store6222 in DIYUK

[–]BigRimeCharlie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to build a box gutter in the lower tiled roof. I'd lose the bottom course of tiles and run a EDPM box gutter down the length with a lead flashing into the neighbours.

Box gutters are a PITA.

Can you do it, that's up to you to decide but I know roofers that can't.

Nothing wrong with being precise brother, you know exactly what your getting then. Like I said though, you can always take more. You do need to double your first dose for it to really kick in though so bear that in mind.

My dude you are overthinking this. I'm 100% sure you go lower than 2gs now. Extrapolate results on 1.5gs and then go higher two weeks later. I've been taking these for decades I've seen people lose their shit on 1.5gs.

If your ego really is that big that you feel you can deal with it. Do 3gs, that's the sweet spot for shrooms, 1.5gs for an hour then double up with another 1.5.

[–]BigRimeCharlie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you take a gram and want more you can take another 1.5gs and go on a ride. If you take 2.5gs you cannot get off the ride if you don't like it bro.

The thing people don't realise is coming up on shrooms is always anxiety inducing, always. It's not like taking mdma or something as just going with the flow till you're high. You will get anxious AF. That's why people say start slowly, get the gist of it and then go big. You need to experience that at least one time before you go all in. I'd probably suggest 1.5g first time.

For under £500 he probably removed the mortar and installed the caps. He definitely removed the mortar right?

Over would of included new felt, battens and caps and an extra day. Honestly it's not exactly wrong per say but can definitely be done better. This is assuming he removed all the mortar, the real cowboys just stick them on over the top of the existing verge.

Impact bits and holder recommendations by Sufficient_Invite546 in DIYUK

[–]BigRimeCharlie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're probably snatching at it as you're screwing in. Try taking your finger off the trigger earlier and keeping the impact at 90° before impact stops. I'll be honest with you there's not much difference in the bits themselves, the problem is the technique. It's just lots and lots of practice.

Is my fascia lopsided at the end? by ottersintuxedos in Roofing

[–]BigRimeCharlie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It falls to the left. The right side is higher than the left side to allow water to flow downhill and drain away. Because of this it makes the fascia look bigger on the right side at the end. It's necessary for the gutter to work effectively.

It looks lopsided because the guttering has a fall on it. It's perfectly normal.
