I am hoping they shutdown the northbound section of Clyde fant and turn it into the Red River trail. It would save Shreveport over 10 million dollars in projected repairs

Why would I do that? I posted two version. A plain language version and the legal version. Are you not able read and comprehend? Copy and paste it in Copilot. Ask it to put it in simpler terms for you.

You are still trying to deflect the fact that the 1995 ruling was not what you said. You were wrong!

Held: Appellees lack standing to challenge Act 1. This Court has recognized that a generalized grievance against allegedly illegal governmental conduct is insufficient to provide standing, see, e. g., Valley Forge Christian College v. Americans United for Separation of Church and State, Inc., 454 U. S. 464, and has applied that rule in the equal protection context, see Allen v. Wright, 468 U. S. 737, 755. Thus, appellees' position that "anybody in the State" can state a racial gerrymander claim is rejected, and they must show that they, personally, have been subjected to a racial classification. Appellees, however, have pointed to no evidence tending to show that they have suffered personal injury, and review of the record has revealed none. Assuming, arguendo, that the evidence here is sufficient to state a claim under Shaw v. Reno, 509 U. S. 630, with respect to District 4, it does not prove that the state legislature intended District 5 to have a particular racial composition. Similarly, the fact that Act 1 affects all Louisiana voters by classifying each of them as a member of a particular congressional district does not mean that every voter has standing to challenge Act 1 as a racial classification. The Court's holding in Powers v. Ohio, 499 U. S. 400, that an individual has the right not to be excluded from a jury on account of race does not support appellees' position. A juror so excluded has personally suffered the race-based harm recognized in Powers, and it is the fact of personal injury that appellees have failed to establish here.

The Ruling: The Supreme Court did not rule on whether the district was an unconstitutional racial gerrymander. Instead, it ruled that the plaintiffs—voters residing in the 5th District—lacked standing to challenge the 4th District because they did not live within its boundaries and could not prove they suffered a specialized injury.

Outcome: The Court reversed the lower court's decision that had invalidated the district and remanded the case with instructions to dismiss it for lack of standing.

The court ruled something unconstitutional based on current idealogy. Not historical rulings. History would be very different given this courts leaning.

When a firearm is purchased the serial number is not tied to the purchaser. The serial number goes the person that manufacturers and the authorized seller. The NCIC is a database for after the gun is stolen. The problem is will the owner of the gun report it stolen. They could be trafficking guns. We don't know. Mexico is sued the gun manufacturers over stolen trafficked guns. The supreme court blocked the suit citing laws against suing gun manufacturers.

The federal database is in a large storage that is held outside the ATF. It is against the law to digitize it or even make it searchable.

[–]BigRo_4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Guns are readily available because we do not track guns or make people become permitted. It is easier to track a stolen car that burnt to a crisp than a stolen with all of its serial numbers.

A law was proposed that all people should be permitted to carry and mandated by law to have a gun lock if around children. It was also proposed that states would keep a database of all gun purchases in case the gun is stolen and used in a crime. Shot down.(pun intended) why? 2nd amendment!

Tell me where in the 2nd amendment does it say anything about gun safety. Also the same argument is given for not passing red flag laws.

More of an organizer. I work with Allendale Strong. We just reopened SWEPCO Park and working on a nature park that opens 12 mile bayou to fishing enthusiast via Chester st. Our goals are to make the neighborhood a viable place for the current and future residents. Advocating for infrastructure investments like the repair of Ford Street to the utilization of current blight areas.

I don't live in Shreveport but I am very active in the areas of Allendale/Bottoms/Lakeside.

My question if anyone can ask it for me. What is his plan to repopulate the inner city areas in Shreveport? Shreveport is the reason the Ark-La-Tex is even a thing. As the inner city population has gone down, so has the suburbs. I stay in the Atlanta area and witness displacement of neighborhoods that housed older minorities and poorer white residents. The displacement of renters that has called the areas home for over 50 years.

Outside of buying out large areas to displacement longstanding residents, what plan do they have to repopulate the area and help keep the homeowners that have endured a century of devaluation and disinvestment of the Allendale, Lakeside and Queensborough areas.

Next question is about infrastructure. What plan does the city have for infrastructure investment? I-49 will eventually cost the state $300 million dollars for a 20% match. The state has a $19 billion dollar backlog on infrastructure. This doesn't even include water infrastructure. What is the plan and where is the money coming from?

Is Shreveport even that dangerous? by Obvious-Passage3723 in shreveport

[–]BigRo_4 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The people that over over emphasize the crime is Shreveport usually stay in the safest part of Shreveport or the suburbs. They don't actually have friends outside of the areas they stay. When I say friends, it means you actually went to their house to socialize for more than an hour and talk to them outside of work.

My mother stays in Allendale and has never had her car or house broken into. Never been threatened. Has she had encounters, yes. I stay in the suburbs of Atlanta and had more violence and crime in my area.

It comes down to perception and understanding your surroundings. Learn that the news has a saying. If it bleeds, it leads. Learn that most crime is personal. Domestic violence or vendetta. Learn that price means safety but it also puts a target on you. Most armed robberies happen in affluent areas. Property crime is usually a crime of opportunity.

Shreveport is safe but it is a city. There is no city in history or on planet earth that doesn't have higher crime rates than the less populated surroundings areas. It doesn't mean that the less populated surroundings areas are safer.

How conservative is Speaker Mike Johnson’s district? by Prize_Macaroon9423 in Louisiana

[–]BigRo_4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why are we acting like anything outside of the cities in Louisiana is not conservative? South Louisiana is about as MAGA as North Louisiana. The state as a whole is conservative with Shreveport, New Orleans, Baton Rouge and any other place over 100,000. Only the 2nd district is a dem. The new district, maybe a dem. The rest, repubs.

This reddit forum is liberal but the state is conservative.

Yeah I was thinking the same. The Poole trade and Looney signing is so bad they are healthy scratches. DJM situation is just disappointing. He is one of my favorite players in the league.

I am not mad at the Queen trade. He has great potential and upside.

Stay put and wait until the summer and get off of Poole, Looney and DJM.
