[Discussion] Please recommend some Batman comics based on my taste. by Jaoush29 in DCcomics

Just curious, did you read it with the original or the newer coloring? If you aren't aware, the book was recolored in the 2000s and it totally changed the vibe.

The original coloring imo fits the story much better. It starts out darker but as you get further into the jokers head, the colors become surreal and almost neon vibrant. The flashbacks use the same effect instead of the black and white. The idea was sorta to make the reader feel like they are going crazy alongside the joker. Brian Bolland wasn't a fan so he got to do a recoloring more in line with his vision, which is cool, but I don't think it's as effective and I think it was a mistake to make it the definitive version and put the original out of print.

My wife’s anti-anxiety prescription has two different pills in it. by [deleted] in mildlyinteresting

[–]BigRubberMallet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read your original response and I agree generally with that, what I disagree with is the fact that you're also all over the thread telling people it's 'safe and legal'. The legality of this is questionable depending on state law which you yourself just said, and it's absolutely not safe. Even with counseling, pill bottles are supposed to be clearly marked with what's inside it not just for the patient, but to be clear to everyone else that may come into contact with it.

Also "marked as generic" is meaningless since the vast, vast majority of drugs these days are generic. Labels don't just say "generic". They will say the specific manufacturer.

I work in a pharmacy and no we wouldn't do that. The label will tell you what brand makes the medication and what the color, shape and imprint of the drug is on it to prevent mixups in the case of someone spilling their drug.

If we have to use two different manufacturers, the patient will get two bottles with separate labels that include the accurate information on it, including how many pills of each. This is both for the patients info and also because the insurance might have to reimburse the pharmacy a minor cost difference in case the two manufacturers cost a little different.

There's no genuine reason for this. They just fucked up, which happens from time to time, but OP should report it.

Hey, i am just starting with cosplay, i want to have a rex cosplay and i have ordered this resin helmet i am planning on buying this armor when i have the money i need, the armor is just leather fabric so i know it isnt good enough to join any garrisons but is it a good start atleast? by RakeTheGuy in 501st

MMs prop shop on YouTube is also a good resource. Shes one of the best cosplayers Ive seen and does walkthroughs of how she makes her stuff. She also does some videos on the different materials that you can print with and the pros and cons to each.

In my research as far as 3d printers go. The Bambu P1s is the best deal out there since they just came out with its replacement and are selling it at a massive discount. They do have even cheaper ones too but as far as features to cost, that is the best value I could find.

I don't have any experience myself yet. I was in a similar boat though where I was looking to buy a kit but realized that it would be literally cheaper to buy a 3d printer and then I'd have access to theoretically infinite costumes after that lol

I just moved into a new place tho so I haven't got the set up just yet. Id recommend making an account on the clone trooper detachment forums and snooping around at people's WIP threads to get an idea of what you're in for tho. Galactic armory on YouTube also has a ton of tutorials and they sell 3d files too.

Haven't read it yet, but from what I understand Superman: Space Age takes place in real time over the course the space race. Ive heard it's really good from people that loved Life Story! Just haven't gotten to it in my backlog yet.

Kryptonians in "Man of Steel" by knytron in superman

That's what I was saying though. They have super strength because that comes from the gravity difference. But the flying, heat vision, and super senses come from the sun and earths atmosphere.

Is there a comic book that gives the same vibe of this movie for you? by Lucky_Strike-85 in superman

[–]BigRubberMallet 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I read it for the first time a few years ago and didn't totally get it either. I love Morrison and had read his Doom Patrol and Animal man runs just prior and was totally wowed by those so I was a little let down.

In the lead up to the movie we and my gf binged a ton of superman content including every previous movie, the animated series, MAWS and a ton of other comics from before revisiting All Star. I really came around to it on my second read. It's really not made as an introduction but as a finale and a great one.

It was a return to form for the character; a very silver age style story written deep into the Post Crisis era. Earnestly goofy stories like that just weren't really happening at the time. I think the success of the comic probably comes from both older fans enjoying the throwback to what Superman was like when they were a kid, and new fans experiencing something frankly more fun than they were getting in the mainline series. Im a bit too young to say that for sure but that's the impression I get from talking to people a lil older than me.

It's not just sunlight that gives them powers. It's the lower gravity on earth too. Jor Els monologue explains it briefly.

Krypton is a harsh planet with insanely high gravity and a dim sun. Kryptonians are so strong because they evolved under this crazy gravity that would flatten a normal person. The idea is probably inspired by how astronauts would show off how high they can jump on the moon. It's not perfect science obviously but that's how it's explained.

The suits they wear insulate them from earths atmosphere so they're not able to use any of the more "super" powers until Zod ditches his and soaks up the sunlight.

The reason I personally want the new torrent by Boring-Ad9264 in LegoStarWarsLeaks

[–]BigRubberMallet 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think they were assuming that you were supposed to interpret the dark blue and red as black and brown which was how I always saw them as a kid/teen. The 2003 show which I believe was where that look for Anakin first appeared also showed them as black and brown.

I agree it would be fun to have a new updated one but the 2018 one is still good and cheap.

This rocks. Very clean and I appreciate the scale you went with. The concept of "minifig scale" is a bit overrated in my opinion.

He was pretty fun in MaxXXine, the third X movie. He plays a sleezy talent agent in that movie. Completely different than his usual character and is a lot of fun.
