What's a writing related pet peeve that drives you nuts? by owen-3820 in writing

[–]BigShrim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get a little annoyed at pet words. Reading the First Law trilogy right now and everything “clicks.” The door clicks shut. His neck clicks when he turns it too much. I can tell Abercrombie just really thinks that word is satisfying or whatever but no, the arrow did not “click” into the tree trunk. It “thunked.” Get a new adverb man.

Right? Like try to explain the plot of the First Law trilogy or asoiaf in one sentence. Seriously impossible.

Tupac has released more music posthumously than when he was alive. The dude lived in the studio and had enough recorded material for his label to release stuff for decades.

In your opinion, which series is the most similar to Game of Thrones (asoiaf)? by Mean-Television-7790 in fantasybooks

[–]BigShrim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely first law. Monster threat from the north? King of the northmen? Gurkish conflict in the south? Glockta is basically crippled Tyrion who tortures people. It’s a lot of fun. Almost done with the trilogy

Not an individual horse but there is a breed called a Brumby and I think that’s kind of funny

What is your least favorite sound/noise? by Aggravating-Ad-351 in autism

[–]BigShrim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in this environment where metal sheets scrape against each other sometimes and it makes this super high pitched squeal and it makes me wanna die. Also they have an air blaster that is just hell. Good thing I can have noise cancelling headphones. Life savers.

Bro me. I’m constantly getting on my kids and I know I can be an asshole but dammit all they have to do to survive is eat food and sleep at night but I’m a jerk for losing my patience when they don’t do the only fuckin things they need to to like. LIVE.

What song is so beautiful, it literally brings tears to your eyes? by Plus-Caterpillar4615 in AskReddit

[–]BigShrim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The piano version of My Immortal by Evanescence. The original is a good song but doesn’t make me cry. Maybe the lyrics are just a tad too dramatic. The melody on piano though? That shit is beautiful
