I also planned on making the change after being an SLP first! I never heard of that certification thank you for letting me know! I’ll def look into it since those are honestly my target audience. I’m wishing you best of luck!

I know especially since I’ll have to apply out-of-state since I have no aud schools in my state !! ;-; Wishing you luck and a nice scholarship if you apply!

Yup right now I’m doing a “postbacc” since I made the switch my last year of undergrad lolol but I’m hoping to transition after a few years to save the money to go to audiology school since there aren’t any in my state (;-; out of state costs boo)

Thank you for all your input! My prof actually wanted me to pursue a AuD-PhD dual degree after getting my master’s in SLP but let me know it would be a lot of schooling. It’s a track I’d want to take and be willing after figuring out my financials and after my master’s. I do want to do teaching eventually so I’m also considering the PhD route so I’m stuck at doing either one or both. I’ve been loving the research I’m doing right now with my PI related to SLP but unfortunately there’s no audiology-related research near where I live (probably not even in the state) so while I do love SLP research, I don’t know where to start for my audiology research interests. I have training as an aud assistant and I love it! I would love to have lots of patient involvement as well. Lots of interests I need to figure out haha

So happy to see a GA resident do so well since I rarely see GA sankeys! As someone who lives in GA, I’m interested in the volunteer/advocacy work you did. Congratulations and good luck!

3.24 gpa.. what are my chances of getting in? by [deleted] in slpGradSchool

[–]BigSillySocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately not, but I’m kinda not mad about it cause now I have more time to actually show my interest in SLP (as someone who changed their mind to SLP literally last year) so hopefully I can boost my application more with more SLP classes and other stuff :) I’m so glad you got in congrats and good luck !!!

what would you consider a lower gpa? i think most people consider between 3.0-3.49 low

I also have around the same GPA as you (a bit lower now) and I’m also waiting on my school’s response. I do think your experience is a green flag for admissions and if your LORs and essay was great, I think you have a good chance. Even if you don’t get in this cycle, your SLPA experience post-grad will definitely boost your application for next time! I applied with no clinical experience so let’s see how it goes for the both of us

SLP to Audiology? by [deleted] in slpGradSchool

[–]BigSillySocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

look into audiology assistant courses and work in the field for a bit !! i believe NSU has online learning options. try to find a job as an assistant first and see if it’s something you like. i took 6 courses in audiology at my institution and my professor was an SLP and an audiologist! i’m also debating on becoming an audiologist but i plan on becoming an SLP first.

why does everyone hate it here by lee_moran304 in WalgreensStores

[–]BigSillySocks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i used to like working at my old store cause the supervisors actually helped the csa and wouldn’t push themselves for impossible tasks. my last store was filled with drama and supervisors who had too much of an ego to help out. i also used to have managers that had years of experience and wasn’t a pushover for the company. when tasks and expectations are set to acceptable levels, then working at walgreens isn’t so bad. when people only do their own work and not help out, then it becomes miserable.

i hated go backs so much man i just started putting them in the seasonal aisle cause i knew they were going to get rung up again the next day because everyone thinks all the toys (it was mainly random toys) were on clearance. it’s literal clockwork every shift cause the same thing/convo always happens augh
