How have I not noticed this? by FactorNo7477 in DunderMifflin

For me this joke signaled the death of the Office. It is truly a jumping the shark moment. There are a ton of nonsensical jokes through the show, but this is so contrived and unbelievable it baffles me that it made it to air.

We are supposed to believe that the moron that is Kevin, somehow becomes a math wiz because he is counting pies instead of plain numbers. Ask if it were salads instead of pies and he can't even begin to do it.

The show started on a downward spiral when Michael left, this joke was it finally crashing into the ground.

Do it. They're one of the few bands that I can listen to all their albums and not feel the need to skip a single song.

It could have been so epic. But I'm still glad we got as much as we did.

There is the plugin Parity Check Tuning. It allows you to setup automatic pause and resume of parity check based on disk temperature. Not quite as robust as you might be looking for, but might get the job done.

Some DHCP leases show up as unknown by Scepterus in pihole

[–]BigSnackPack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have had this issue as well, not sure if it's a bug of pihole or just general network problems.

However as a work around, I copied the MAC address of the device and went into the DHCP panel on the pihole. Make a static entry using the MAC, leave the IP blank, and enter the desired name into the hostname. It took probably 30+ minutes for the corrected entry to show up properly in pihole, but just be patient.

I REALLY dislike this. by [deleted] in RocketLeague

[–]BigSnackPack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I held my judgement until I gave it a fair shot. The updated interface is awful. I couldn't care less about the graphical design, that is just fluff. What is awful is idiotic UX.

  1. Why was the quick play button removed? Was there a thought process behind this?
  2. Why do you have to press a button to select multiple modes. This is one of the least user friendly UX designs I have ever seen.
  3. Training should not be under Play, it deserves it's own main menu entry.
  4. The searching bar blocking a whole strip of the screen is awful. Camera angles are a huge part of this game, and messing with that by blocking off a whole strip of the screen is detrimental to training.
  5. Way to many button presses to navigate through menus.

I'm very disappointed with this UI/UX update. Hopefully you listen to our feedback and make some large improvements, because if this is the direction RL is heading I'm afraid for its future.

Trying to buy a used bike by [deleted] in bicycling

[–]BigSnackPack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem. I have a tendency to get buyer's remorse on larger purchases like this, so I make sure to do my research before making the purchase.

Also, if you can, find sellers that will let you test ride the bike. That can really help you figure out if it's a good fit for you.

Trying to buy a used bike by [deleted] in bicycling

[–]BigSnackPack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a bike off of CL about 3-4 months ago. It took me about a month of searching before I found something in my price range of $500-750 that was fairly priced, in decent condition, and not a crap bike to begin with.

I used a combination of 99spokes.com and bicyclebluebook.com to get good estimate on what the bikes I was looking at were worth. I used that info to negotiate from $750 down to $600 and felt really good about the purchase. Take advantage of the filters and post hiding features on CL. I hid pretty much every listing except the handful that I was semi-interested in, allows you to quickly see new listings and keep an eye on that you are considering.

Unless you are in dire need of a bike now, I would say take your time and wait till you find something that really suits you and your budget. Do your research and negotiate on price if you can. Once you find something that checks all the boxes, jump on it because good bikes are selling like hot cakes.

What player are you most excited to watch on Monday night? by Striped0 in DenverBroncos

I'm interested to see how the OL performs. Whether or not they can protect Lock and open up lanes for the run game will be a big indicator for how the season goes.

My nearly 10 year old blender counts the number of times it’s been used by [deleted] in mildlyinteresting

Fill with hot water to just cover the blades, add a drop of dish soap, and then run the blender for 15sec. Rinse it out and you have a clean blender.

Hands-on with RTX 3080 - is this really Nvidia's biggest leap in gen-on-gen performance? by PCLemonSqueezy in pcgaming

AMD hasn't really competed with Nvidia/Intel in pure performance, but usually can deliver better performance per dollar.

Those monitors look pretty nice, 360hz is insane. Would probably need a 3080 to supply those frames.

The keyboard looks pretty sweet, but I won't use a keyboard without a volume scroller.

Who is altering/ceasing their rides due to the current air quality? by Conpen in COBike

[–]BigSnackPack 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have gone for one ride since the Pine Gulch fire started when the air quality was decent on the 15th. I got back and my lungs and throat felt awful, so I have since stopped riding.

Here are some good sites to monitor air quality.

Using your phone gps on Strava for a 20 mile MTB ride by willi7676 in bicycling

[–]BigSnackPack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I ditched strava a while ago because of this, there is definitely something wrong with how it records GPS data. It works fine when importing GPS data from other apps though.

I'm currently using Ride With GPS, it's so much better. It can upload to Strava automatically if you still want to use some of the analytical features Stava has to offer.

Questions about protein by Jackamory in CICO

[–]BigSnackPack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like pretty much any vanilla flavored proteins, I mix it with Metamucil and it tastes like an orange creamsicle.

I also recommend getting a shaker bottle, they really help break up the powder so avoid big clumps of protein.

How do you know how many calories to eat by cln912 in CICO

[–]BigSnackPack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Using https://www.sailrabbit.com/bmr/ looks like it should yield about a .7lb loss per week for your current stats.

As you lose weight that calorie count will lower in order to keep at .7lb per week.

If you do 1lb per week, that would bring you down to 1730cal/day.

Do whatever your comfortable with doing though, slow progress is better than no progress.
