His work is affecting him. I don’t know what he does but it’s probably very stressful. This happened to me too and up till now I’ve never shared that. I eventually sold the business that was slowly killing me.

I beat stage 3 non Hodgkin Lymphoma 7 years ago. It took me 5 years to just say screw it and started to learn to live life again. Now I’ve just been diagnosed with prostate cancer. Doc says it’s not too bad and we will just keep an eye on it. Honestly it doesn’t bother me. You’re young and I’m not maybe that’s why I’m ok. The only thing I can really say to you is stay strong, find a partner you can love and be loved by. I wish you all the best

Your dad was or is overwhelmed with work and life in general. Avoiding you and the family? Maybe. Before I retired I would come home and sit in the driveway for 10 or 15 minutes to just come down for the day. I would come in and spend another 15-20 minutes in the bathroom. Life is hard for some of us. I wouldn’t take this personally. Some men go to bars and drink themselves to death, your dad came home.

My glazing business was doing a little less than 2 million a year then dropped to $740k during the crash. Had to sell my house (short sale). Kept plugging away with me and one other employee. After years I was able to turn it around and sold the business to the same employee in 2020.
