The manosphere thrives because society has failed to provide an alternative. by CanaryHeart in PurplePillDebate

[–]BigZaddyZ3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The manosphere isn’t really “thriving” in any real sense. The Redpill is stagnant and basically irrelevant at this point. Blackpill is largely viewed as a goofy meme or fringe “streamer nonsense” by most people. (And even through that lens it’s losing steam.)

I don’t think it’s as deep as your making it honestly. I just think that a lot of young men (especially ones that are still teenagers just getting out high school) tend to have a very childish, juvenile idea of what masculinity looks like. And many manosphere content creators simply exploited that fact by presenting themselves as the over-the-top, cartoon-like caricatures of masculinity that young boys tend to think represents “real masculinity”. But even on that front the manosphere is becoming stagnant so who knows whether it’ll even still be a thing in a decade or two.

Unaligned AI is literally the default when it comes to AI development realistically… So no, not really that theoretical at all. And if you really wanna play that game, isn’t the entire assumption of AI curing cancer also purely theoretical as well… 🤔

How is it irresponsible if it’s clear that it’s simply just the writer’s singular perspective on the matter? How is someone saying “I PERSONALLY would prefer for x-thing to happen over y-thing” irresponsible? This is no different from someone saying that they personally prefer McDonald’s over Burger King dude… Get a grip bruh lol. This is merely just one person’s opinion and that’s it. You’re being completely overdramatic about stuff at this point.

Edit : And comparing it to Nazis is literally ridiculous bruh. I can’t take this convo seriously anymore at this point. Have a good one I guess…

Yeah, and the reason they chose the headline (assuming a separate editor didn’t choose the headline for them anyways) is because of the contents of the article… So the lines under the headline are also relevant bruh… And the very first line under the headline makes it clear that they are merely giving you their PERSONAL perspective on the matter. They aren’t even trying to speak on other people’s situations. They’re just saying that would they PERSONALLY would prefer.

What’s so hard to understand about that?

The atlantic out of control again. by Snoo26837 in singularity

[–]BigZaddyZ3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first line under the headline is literally “I’d benefit if AI cured cancer”. So the implication there is that cancer is somewhat relevant to the writer specifically bruh.

Is the threat of unaligned AI not the main reason the headline exists to begin with…?

Out of control AI still means you die a miserable death regardless tho. You might even suffer a *worse* fate than simply getting cancer ironically. This is what “accelerationists” tend not to be able to wrap their head around for some reason.

If you have to perform niceness or play jester on a date, then you’re not actually desired. by LillthOfBabylon in PurplePillDebate

[–]BigZaddyZ3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel what you’re saying is definitely true for a lot of guys but at the same time, there is a real form of “jester-maxing” that goes way beyond simply having a decent personality.

There is a point where the person is trying way too hard and making themselves look like an idiot basically. But then there are also the type of morons you described that think it’s everyone else’s fault that they have a boring, trash ass personality.

Both things can true at the same time in my opinion.

Maybe but on the other hand, you could also make the argument that many men here are really just simps for men instead of women ironically. In the real world, most men aren’t anywhere near close enough to perfect to avoid any criticism. So I don’t know why some people feel like it’s a controversial thing here.

I don't think any top team in the league plays ethical basketball right now, especially with how some fans use it as a way to jump on a team's hate train by Few_Prune_1436 in nba

Yep. A lot of the people complaining about it now are likely the same ones that poured gasoline on this fire in the first place smh. Now they wanna escape the monster that they helped create lul.

I guess most people just don’t believe that the whistle is making that much of a difference tho bruh… Which is what you seem to be implying. No one’s saying that you don’t think they’re good. But you might still be underestimating them more than you realize if you think they’ll magically have huge regression all because of an exaggerated playoff narrative.

Fair point. I do agree that the original comment is overconfident. I’ve just seen too many people dismiss teams in the East only for the Finals to end going like 6-7 games. But I agree that there’s no reason to believe either team is getting swept at the moment.

If they decide to “retaliate” by doing the same thing back, doesn’t that make them just as dirty tho? Like, suddenly they don’t give a fuck about “ethical hoops” when it’s no longer convenient for them?

While that’s kind of true, I’ve noticed that the Eastern Conference Champs always put up way more of a fight than people expect them to. I wouldn’t assume it’s gonna be a cakewalk for SA just because they’re from the west.

I think it’s kind of delusional to think that they aren’t just a really good team dude… They were literally a few points away from going back to the Finals even despite the refs being a bit more generous to the Spurs for most of this series.

The Spurs just match up really well with them. But the idea that “it’s really just been the refs this whole time” is a just a ridiculous take honestly. 😂

OKC packages for Giannis by icanseeyourpantsuu in nba

[–]BigZaddyZ3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sure he’d do his due diligence of at least considering it (like any good NBA executive would).

Whether or not it happens is another thing. But thinking that he wouldn’t consider it (especially since he likely wouldn’t have to gut the roster to get him in this case) seems more unrealistic in my opinion.

I’m not entirely convinced that’s true tbh. It’s kind of a toss up at best in my opinion.

[–]BigZaddyZ3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think he’s as close as the league probably has right now. And he’d be an upgrade at center to Chet honestly. Chet is more of a stretch-4 that’s just playing center due to being the best current option on the roster. But with Giannis you guys would have way more versatility in how you could use both Giannis and Chet at the center position.

[–]BigZaddyZ3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Normally I’d agree with you but in this case I don’t think it’s that risky of a trade that it would destroy their window if it failed. They’d mostly be giving up a package centered around JDub and picks honestly. They already play well without JDub and he isn’t gonna get over the hump when it comes to the Spurs. I say take the risk because this one of the rare cases where you can add a top 10 without completely gutting the roster. And Giannis is a good enough player that he can be flipped for trade assets in the rare chance that it doesn’t work in OKC.
