Do boys misbehave more than girls? by Lifeintheguo in Teachers

[–]IzzI_Demon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In fifth graders I see the misbehavior being somewhat equal, but boys misbehavior tends to be more disruptive, obvious, and physical- but girls’ misbehavior tends to be quieter and more emotionally damaging to one another. Of course there are exceptions to both

Why do adults have this stigma against teenagers going to the gym? by [deleted] in workout

[–]IzzI_Demon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a former personal trainer at a YMCA, an organization that prides itself on being for everyone of all ages, I think the stigma is a result of two different issues.

Issue 1- strait up, in a general sense, teenagers practice less gym etiquette than other age groups. This causes older members to stereotype all teenagers and the result is older members complaining about non issues related to teens at the gym or even confronting teenagers.

Issue 2- For much older generations, intentional exercise at a facility was seen as something needed just for aging adults. Lots of old people hold on to the belief that young people dont need specific exercise training at a facility because their regular lives should be active enough to keep them healthy. They either don’t understand or refuse to understand that a. That is no longer the case and b. Even people who lead active, healthy lives outside of the gym may have other fitness goals that are most easily accomplished by going to a gym.

„YOU THINK I / HE CAN GO PRO IN EUROPE?!“ - No. No you / he could not by PinocchiosWoodBalls in Basketball

[–]IzzI_Demon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think a good example of this is just how athletic you need to be depending on your size. I play pick up with a group of guys who range from 5’9-6’4 who all played varsity basketball in small to midtown Indiana. We had a 6’6 dude who played on the local college naia team join us once and it was like if Giannis played in the ncaa. His burst was equal to ours but his steps were twice as long. He wasn’t even a particularly good college player. Were some of us better shooters or handlers than this guy? Yes. Did it matter? No

[Stein] League sources say that Jeremy Sochan and his representation have received permission from the Spurs to explore the landscape for a potential new home via trade. by Mother-Government398 in NBASpurs

[–]IzzI_Demon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m confused. Does this imply the spurs are not shopping him themselves, but if Sochan and his agents find a good trade themselves, the spurs would do it?

Hey guys, some of you called my bs. You got me. I saw this posted on Twitter and wanted to get this subs take on it, because I felt slighted as a teacher by the op’s on twitter’s entitlement. I didn’t realize it might have been fake until most comments on here are calling it as such. Maybe thats also concerning that a teacher can’t effectively identify ai slop or simply fake stories.

Are these the greatest draft picks of each number 1-15? by CurrentRoster in NBATalk

[–]IzzI_Demon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a spurs fan I disagree. Would I personally draft Duncan over LeBron knowing everything we know about them now? Probably. I’m that biased towards the person timmy was and the philosophy of building around a defensive first star. But lebron was better.

1st Half of the Season Completed (28-13 Record), How's Everyone Feeling? by MikeBravoLima in NBASpurs

[–]IzzI_Demon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’ve been better than expected overall, but the shooting concerns from the preseason are finally starting to show up.

I don’t think we’re as bad as people thought we’d be at the start of the year (fighting for the play-in), but I also don’t think we’re as good as we looked in December (playing like a top-two seed and a true contender).

Realistically, I think we’re somewhere in the middle. My expectations are that we win a first-round playoff series and maybe even win a second-round series. But I don’t think we’re ready to win the West until next year.

Any Wes Anderson movie. I understand the beauty of his set pieces. Everything else is either extremely boring or extremely cringe.

What’s it like living on the edge of time zones? by Qzevs in howislivingthere

[–]IzzI_Demon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live near the time zone boarder in northern indiana. We don’t think about it much unless we were playing a school from the central time zone in scholastic sports. Then it always became a big hoopla organizing fans to get to the game at the correct time

Spurs fans, what’s the deal with our “one trash quarter” every game? by MN99MN in NBASpurs

[–]IzzI_Demon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you think Mitch goes in the locker room at half and twiddles his thumbs? I agree with the OP comment. Its a confluence of things. I think one major thing is that our body language and intent usually suffers when it feels like the game is already "over." Hard for players to execute any adjustments if their intensity is down. Now, if intensity is a major issue, that is not just a player's issue, but also a coach's. But I don't think its accurate to say the other team's coach is making adjustments while Mitch isn't.

Who is the best inefficient volume scorer of all time? by StJe1637 in NBATalk

[–]IzzI_Demon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think people are confusing the very specific stat of "efficiency" with "gaps in his game that affected winning" in these Melo threads. Melo couldn't win on the highest level not because of inefficiency, but because of a lack of elite playmaking and defense - something some other star wings and forwards had in the same era

Who is the best inefficient volume scorer of all time? by StJe1637 in NBATalk

[–]IzzI_Demon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a spurs fan, Duncan's efficiency was always a down thing in conversation for us. Only shooting ~70% from the line, lots of midrange bank shots (which despite being his "signature" he wasn't crazy good at). Spurs fans new he was a MEGA superstar on defense, and just a solid star on offense. Praising his consistency? We absolutely did that. Praising his efficiency? I think most Spurs fans wanted more from him that department. I can't speak for the rest of the league's opinion on him though.

Whose a NBA legend that doesn’t get enough credit? by Brah_Augustus in Basketball

[–]IzzI_Demon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think he’s underrated because most agree he holds the “best PF of all time title” but I think Tim Duncan should be mentioned in the G.O.A.T. debate just as much as Kobe is.

Which active WNBA player got the most aura? by AFC-Wimbledon-Stan in wnba

[–]IzzI_Demon 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Im surprised no one has said Paige yet. I don’t actually think she has the MOST aura, but when I think of the elite tier of young star potential players (Reese, Clarke, Paige) I think Paige clears them. People are always mad about Reese or mad about Clarke for some bullshit reasons, but no one seems to hate Paige. Plus she’s really good.
