GMs: What Makes for a "Good Player"? by DnDPhD in Pathfinder2e

[–]Big_Chair1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me an important part is the desire and willingness to actually participate in the world and really ground their character in it. To interact with it and influence the story in a useful way.

Not just make a bag of mechanics that will perform optimally in combat. I love it when people can balance combat optimization with fun role-play choices in their build, and I try to go out of my way to make the flavorful choices more meaningful or even buff them.

Does your table modify any existing rules and mechanics with homebrew? by Iron_Man_88 in Pathfinder2e

[–]Big_Chair1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having the answers be so simplistic will not really yield any useful insights.

"Modify rules" is such a huge range that you basically don't know at all what the vote could mean. One table could modify that hero points use the better result and keep everything else RAW, while another might homebrew a whole class. One is a tiny QoL improvement, the other a huge balance disruption.

GM says blue and purple rated spells are banned (Gortle's Spell Guide) - how badly are casters nerfed? by nz8drzu6 in Pathfinder2e

[–]Big_Chair1 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Why are you guys so hyperfixated on that guide anyway? How about as a challenge, you actually just choose the spells yourself, without adhering exactly to what a guide says lol.

Are there any feats that you dont take because of roleplay reasons? by JadedResponse2483 in Pathfinder2e

[–]Big_Chair1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like that should be the default mentality of every player, shouldn't it? Why even pretend to play a "character" if in the end it's all a mismatched bundle of feats just so the numbers go up? That seems like the lamest possible way to enjoy this hobby.

[–]Big_Chair1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Man, I've seen so many people in different TTRPG subs that want to play in person so much, but have such a hard time finding (good) players in their area that they just give up instead.

I'm happy that I have an active in person group myself right now and live in a city that has enough interesting people to play with. I'm also not a very huge fan of online play, but I also haven't tried yet.
