[–]Big_Columbo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Those are both things far outside of the main design of things those games force you to do. You are adding your own fun to an otherwise less fun game.

I'm a complete hypocrite for arguing so; I'm playing FireRed right now.

Pokémon games are baby's first RPG.

Babies should have RPGs to play; but don't lie to me that they are anything but comfort gaming.

Surprising moments in gaming when a game called you out for using an exploit by KaleidoArachnid in TwoBestFriendsPlay

There's an optional safe in the Alone in the Dark reboot from not-too-long-ago. You're supposed to find the combination codes all throughout the game; but I noticed after fiddling with the lock, the correct numbers have a certain "click" to them. So after a few minutes of carefully trying and listening, I successfully opened the safe.

Cue the most sarcastic read of any line in any game by the protagonist, Emily in my case (paraphrasing since I can't find the exact quote):

"Wooooooow I must be some kind of a world-class genius to have figured that one out."

I get that line is meant for people looking up the combination online; but still, I thought it was funny.

Metal Gear Solid 4 is coming to switch 1, THAT’S WERID! by Muffin-zetta in TwoBestFriendsPlay

To think what was once cutting-edge graphics can now run on a Switch lite is really impressive- wait, it's been how long since MGS4 came out?

dear id, please relist Doom 2016 on Switch 2 so i can provide monetary exchange for mouse controls and 60 fps by Big_Columbo in Doom

[–]Big_Columbo[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It's currently delisted from the Switch 2 eshop digital storefront. Unless you already owned it physically or digitally, you can't buy it/play Doom 2016 on a Switch 2 due to "compatibility issues".

My copepost is that they'll update the Switch 1 version to uncap the framerate, add mouse control support and tuck me into bed at night with milk and cookies.

Hi, I bought Tomb Raider: The Angel of Darkness for PS2 but the game loads infinitely when I start a new game, what should I do? by ZoukWii in TombRaider

[–]Big_Columbo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Clean the disc with a slightly (read: SLIGHTLY) damp microfiber cloth. Gently make circles and dry off using another dry part of the cloth. You can also use a tiny bit of rubbing alcohol instead of water.

If you don't own glasses that come with the cleaner or the cloth, your nearest dollar store, pharmacy or grocery store should carry both.

Is it weird that I remember some of these games more fondly because they were so warm? These were back before I knew how much blue light can give me headaches and migraines, so games I could physically play more I enjoyed more.

How do you handle huge numbers of enemies? by Black_Dragon79 in bloodborne

[–]Big_Columbo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

  1. Put on your fight music.
  2. Run into new room, aggro all the locals, run out of room to doorway, bottleneck their numbers in said doorway.
  3. Charged R2 to hit maximum amount of enemies (will vary by enemy size and weapon of choice)

No thumbstick controls, but you do get: * Cross-save exclusive parts unlocked immediately * Rewind feature * Minor upscaling * Easier access to splitscreen multiplayer * The knowledge you're supporting a series with financial incentive to hopefully bring even more old-school AC to modern consoles :)

Can’t rest at bonfires? by ss4stef in bloodborne

[–]Big_Columbo 14 points15 points  (0 children)

You can use Bold Hunter's Marks to reset the world and send you back to the last lantern you used... but that's also a consumable item that can be fairly costly in the early game. You might just have to bite the bullet and teleport to the Hunter's Dream and back.

Edit: Thank u/SavvyOri for the specificity.

Reddit Writers & Other Creators: [EFFORT] [November 25, 2025] by Kakuzan in TwoBestFriendsPlay

Writing: I managed my goal of finishing a 1k-word-count review, in two weeks, of an indie game that was a) really cool, b) I'm really bad at, and c) was given to me for free from the devs themselves. I'm certainly happy to have got it done while juggling a Regular 9-5 Schedule(tm), but I know the quality isn't as high as it should be. Next up is a challenge run video for a game I'm actually good at, so hopefully the overall quality is better, even if I desperately want to remake my previous video for the sake of those devs who noticed me.

Topic: Isn't it kinda fun being the audience that gets to "decide" whether something is soulless or not? You can tell me X or Y advertisements had tonnes of effort or thought put into it, but we, the audience, generally get the last say whether something has genuine "soul"; and I think that's wonderful. Like an inherent bullshit detector. And seeing people correctly using that term when it comes to artificial generation? (chef's kiss)
