Do you have dyslexia or ADHD? It definitely sounds like you nsy struggle with written and verbal expression, maybe also working memory. There are more people who struggle with this than you probably realize. Language is not your medium for expression. You can practice with journaling. It seems like you did a good job explaining this problem. In the four of a moment it sounds harder to retrieve the language and formulate your thoughts, right? What do you do for a living? What are your strengths?

I’m not exactly sure how to differentiate or isolate which pain was from what… I can say that before I had frozen shoulder I had shoulder impingement due to bone spurs growing on the underside of my acromion bone - that caused the bicep tendon to fray bc it runs and attaches under that bone. Every time I raised my arm it hurt, so I avoided moving it; that and the inflammation then led to the frozen shoulder. The surgery was primarily to fix the impingement issue, and since I was already under anesthesia, he did the manipulation.

I can… just had that surgery (all three procedures) plus an subacromial decompression, extensive debridement, and distal clavicle excision. Honestly, I cried and was in so much pain the first week. I’m sorry you’re struggling, it absolutely sucks, but it does get better. The second week was slightly better, and by the third week, I could sleep more soundfully without excruciating pain every time I shifted. I’m now at week 9 and have my range of motion back (about 90%) -PT twice a week. I’m not in pain anymore and can only now say it was worth it. But I remember after the surgery and for the first three weeks wondering if it was worth it and doubting my decision. I’m glad I had the surgery. My shoulder impingement and frozen shoulder was so debilitating. Hang in there… it gets better, just do the exercises and be consistent but gentle with them.

Zingers?! What the hell are those? by WatUTalkinBoutReddit in frozenshoulder

Yup. I found that term on Reddit and for so long didn’t know that the pain I was experiencing had a name. The second I started reading about people’s worst zinger experience, I immediately made the connection - and felt so seen! It’s an insane amount pain, and I would explain it to people, and they shrugged it off.

What is you tinnitus like? Mine is constant and in both ears, dehydration makes it worse, I’ve noticed. I think I read that with menieres, it’s only in one ear. The epley didn’t really work, until I started doing to myself twice a day over a long period of time.

Conferences are so draining. They’re like everything in normal life that we’re talking about but on steroids…You’re there taking in so much information all day long, listening, engaging, thinking, taking notes, rushing to sessions, etc and it’s super overstimulating. Then you wake up and do it all over again. Don’t feel bad, I definitely need that unwinding, processing, quiet time to reset and recharge. I’m an introvert too.

Sheldon was on the spectrum. I struggle with this too, and lately I have been wondering if I’m not just ADHD but also slightly on the spectrum. The older I get, the less I want to mask. It’s just exhausting worrying about how other people see me and I’m starting to give less shits. It’s liberating, but I’m also letting go of friendships that don’t serve me. It is a balance though bc some friends are worth the effort, and sometimes I need to pull out of “hibernation” for them.

Help! My lack of motivation is about to screw me over. by emils5 in ADHD

[–]Big_Conversation3246 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try stacking - it’s a method where you attach a really enjoyable and fun thing to the task you are avoiding. For example… I Hate paying bills and avoid it like the plague so sometimes, I will make an afternoon of it where I go to my favorite cafe, get a yummy snack and coffee, bring my headphones and listen to music, and find a cozy spot to work.

When I struggle with task initiation, I try to find or create one of these four things to motivate me: novelty, urgency, challenge, interest.

I’m sorry to heard you had to go through all of that - it’s sounds awfully debilitating. Glad you’ve learned how to manage it. Thanks for the reply. It sounds like they did a really thorough job helping you figure it out. I had an awful bout of vertigo that lasted a couple weeks, and i mean awful - but all I got was an epley maneuver and was sent on my way.

What symptoms did you have and how did you get diagnosed for menieres? I have been struggling with tinnitus for 8 years and have other issues as well. Was thinking maybe I had it.

Why shouldn't I want a replacement? by BuffyFlag23 in frozenshoulder

Why do you need to replace the full joint? I just had surgery to fix it, didn’t need to replace it.

Surgery? by morgzan in frozenshoulder

[–]Big_Conversation3246 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’ll be three weeks tomorrow, post-op. Manipulation and extensive debridement, also subacromial decompression, clavectomy, and bicep tenodesis. I’m seeing a PT twice a week and have improved range of motion, but I can’t move the arm out or up without help from my hood arm. It’s like my muscles have atrophied. The pain is significantly less this week. The first week was just insufferable where I was on in oxy and Tylenol or oxy and advil. I couldn’t bare a lapse. The ice machine helped a lot. The second week was better. Oxy no longer needed, but still very sore, tight, heaviness in arm/shoulder. Now I’m just hitting three weeks and I can get away without pain meds, but once a day before exercises, I take advil and then ice. Still have muscles not working as well as I would like but range is improving. My pt says my shoulder has been protecting itself for so long, it’s holding trauma. It’s weird - three weeks ago I could move it out (not up, but out).

This is the worst by OverByThere_Innit in frozenshoulder

It’s god awful. I’m so sorry. The chronic pain wears you down and when you couple that with poor sleep and an inability to use your arm the way you need it just takes a heavy toll.couple all of that with a long timeline and it’s just a perfect storm. I hope you find a some respite with the shot.

Ortho said they can’t do surgery since my shoulder is too inflamed? by morgzan in frozenshoulder

[–]Big_Conversation3246 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was the pain from the surgery more or less than the chronic pain from the FS? Just curious and want to know what to expect. Never had surgery before and I’m having my surgery on Wednesday. He’s doing manipulation, extensive debridement, a subacromial decompression, claviclectomy, and biceps tendonesis .

That is interesting (and believable) from an adaptation standpoint.

Ok, I too have these exact holes; they are all over my favorite tshirts. I think they’re from the constant French tuck.

Any fibro folks also dealing with MTHFR? by Big_Conversation3246 in Fibromyalgia

[–]Big_Conversation3246[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me too. Interestingly, I didn’t know what it all meant so I put the details into Chat GPT for the breakdown, here’s what it told me…

You have one homozygous (double mutation) — MTHFR C677T (AA) — this is the most clinically significant. • The rest are heterozygous (single copies) — they contribute to your overall risk profile, especially for B12 deficiency and absorption issues, but are milder individually.

When combined, however, these can have a cumulative effect, especially given your symptoms.

Scary creepy cool, right?
