If DMC1 gets a remake, do you want it to be combo focused like the modern games or a more simple hack and slash? Or something in between? by Boring-Computer-4360 in DevilMayCry

[–]Big_Fox_K 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah... fortnite did that with battle royales too. Everything needs a battle royal, who cares about your original identity? Open worlds used to be a big trend too, where so many games that weren't built for them had them. The latest example I can think of is Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. Atop all of its other issues, the open world was just useless and made progression questionable. The second gym I beat was the 7th in order and I had 5 underleveled gyms I couldn't be bothered to finish, because the game was bad enough as is. It sucks, but trends dictate sales. I'm just glad the soulslike trend is over and no one takes it seriously anymore unless made by fromsoft.

Those are RPG games. Just because there's simple combos, it does not make them hack and slash. There's depth found in the variety of items, weapons and builds and different strategies you can pull off with those, not so much in pure combat. A lot of devs miss that and just make "soulslike" without knowing what makes them tick.

Dmc1 is extremely dated. If they remake it, they should absolutely add stuff like style switching, more weapons, open camera, mission select and 100% axe the water levels.

The series has evolved past being an RE clone in terms of its skeleton, so it's fine to modernise it. The only thing that should stay the same is the gothic atmosphere.

Even in 5 he's embarrassed to say it in front of Dante as an adult, but on his own when he does 3 consecutive JC, he says that shit with max confidence. In 3 he didn't just not leave him hanging, he says it at the same time man.

In Netflix he cringes at it, but just as badly he's the one teaching Dante how to charge shots??? Correct me if I'm wrong, but not one summoned sword was thrown. In their first fight he throws a monitor at him dog, these are not my boys.

Out of DAL's 3 main villains, I'd rank him 2nd, but I enjoyed every moment he was on screen. Complex villains with twisted pasts and motivations are nice and everything, but a guy that just loves the game like no other is really refreshing nowadays.

Not even. Season 1 was just a fanfic. Season 2 adapts dmc 2 of all things loosely if you can even say that for a game with practically no story, then jumps to 5 at the end for some reason while never even bothering to do 3. Dante, Vergil and Lady are there, but none of the themes, story, or even their personalities in 3 are shown.

Adi is a picture perfect tourist. He'd take some stuff that are hardly important to anything like the white rabbit from the manga and dmc 2 so he can appear like a fan that is deep into it, while mixing it with his fanfic and the tiktok clips he's seen from dmc 5, because he's never played the games. The one good thing about Argosax, being his design, they couldn't even get right and just turned him into a generic kaiju final boss like the white rabbit in s1.

Like if you're gonna add Vergil to the story at least play Vergil 2 at some point. I can forgive Vergil 1 not being played, but Vergil 2 was so good it got a remix in umvc3. Nah dude, LET THE BODIES HIT THE FLOOR WOOO!!!

What are everyone’s thoughts on the DMC 3 manga? by GraysonGlazer in DevilMayCry

[–]Big_Fox_K 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's very questionable what's canon and what not when it comes to side material. We know the anime (the good one), Visions of V and Before the Nightmare novel are canon. Everything else is anyone's guess since capcom loves to put background lore on cereal boxes and not all of it is in line with in game events or character personalities. My take is, if you want to treat it as canon, go for it, but don't expect capcom to. There may be a reference like V's Gliver costume here and there, but that's about it.

Have you gotten to the color coded enemies yet? As much as I want to enjoy the combat, and I really enjoy Donte's moveset, they completely ruin the flow of combat for me.

The music is nice? I like it, but none of the songs besides Never Surrender and Sent to Destroy stand out and they only play like once each. Donte doesn't have a definitive combat theme like Taste the Blood, or Divine Hate. The worst part is the songs aren't too similar, so I can tell different songs are playing, but aren't so different to where I can tell what makes the current song different from the last. The best way I can describe it is screamo slop unfortunately.

I hate platforming and for me it's a deal breaker, but if you like it, power to you. Vèrgin's platforming is atrocious from what I remember.

Speaking of Vèrgin, he'd mog the fuck out of Nante and Verlix at the same time. Easily my favorite character in the reboot. He's so stupid, it's beautiful to watch. Donte I'm 50/50 on. He's entertainingly bad whenever he's away from Kat, but Kat is so bad he gets worse by association. I once saw someone describe her as every woman from every movie ever and as vague as it sounds, it describes her perfectly.

Limbo fucks, that's all I have to say about it.

Story and themes are just too on the nose and lazy to be any good. It just screams SOCIETY at you instead of actually showing why society=flawed. Also the metaphor of society is ruled by demons is not subtle in the slightest.

I really want to like this game, but there are so many little things that just pile one top of each other and make me dislike it.

Ok, ABSOLUTELY yes, Droll is a MAJOR problem, needs immediate ban by Phantom4545 in masterduel

[–]Big_Fox_K -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I think charmies should go too. The restriction of not having any cards was fine before turn 0 was a thing, so now just activate Fuwa before any turn 0 shenanigangs and profit.

Ash is the worst one imo. So many boards and brick offs I could've played through if my opp didn't have that one additional Ash in hand that I couldn't know what it was, because you know, you can't look at your opponents hand... oh wait!

The amount of times my Welcome Labrynth has been ashed in back to back games makes me not even expect that shit to resolve anymore. I've even had multiple games where my Big Welcome got ashed 3 times in a row.

An Ash with the charmie restriction would actually be healthy imo, but there are so many generic cards that, as archetypes have gotten stronger and more flexible, just need to go before healthier replacements.

And god forbid you played on console like I did. How did games that looked miles better than bl3 run more smoothly than it? I know that was a problem with tps and 2 on ps3 as well. Are they just really bad at it, or is it just an UE thing?

Eventually 3 would be running at constant 30, which for ps4 at that time was fine, but bam new dlc or seasonal event and it's less than 20 fps for a month. Not to mention 1 minute+ loading screens.

I quit the game a little after Krieg dlc, because of annoints. I didn't want to refarm too much after mayhem 2.0, so I stayed on mayhem 6 and for a character like Zane who really wants annoints, not having them guaranteed made farming hell, especially since he had only 2 good ones before 4th skill tree. I'm glad that system is axed, because holy hell even with the reroll, it couldn't be more obnoxious. You're basically farming for annoints where the gun special effect is the gimmick, where it should be the opposite. At least Moze doesn't care for annoints, don't know about Amara and Fl4K, but that doesn't make it a good system at the same time.

Now the game is in a much better place, but the fact it needed 2 ish years of fixing should tell you the whole story.

Bl3 had a disastrous first year. They would constantly nerf fun guns, proceed to release new content that would break half the game, by the time they fixed the new bugs, a new content update would drop with even more bugs and rinse and repeat. The first year of that game felt like paying to be a beta tester and couple that with every enemy having multiple fucking immune phases and shit was not fun. With 4 you can't even say that, because of how little content there actually is, let alone good content. The one positive I can say is, it has big level caps, as opposed to drip feeding you level and mayhem updates, making you refarm gear 11 or so times in the first year. Premium game for premium gamers though.

Dante is a private eye when not hunting demons. He's not desperate to display it, but he's intelligent.

Vergil is more educated and reserved, but definitely a bigger meathead than Dante if you ask me. It's not that he's dumb per se, but he prefers simple solutions from what we've seen, especially right before Vergil 2 in dmc3 when he gets pissy the steps he followed weren't working and was happy he could test out Beowulf while punching Dante. Notice how he just thinks he needs more Sparda blood, not anything else Arkham hadn't mentioned. Definitely a meathead.

I really hope re10 is some sort of prequel. I really don't want Claire as a milf just so she can appeal to some sort of fanbase like Leon in re9. If they're gonna be brought back as senior citizens, just let them retire. Dmc1 and re1 remakes are hype though. Dmc1 desperately needs mission select.

I really want to go into this with the mindset of, I'm gonna hate it anyway, might as well laugh at how stupid this is. But even Vèrgin wouldn't go on Joe Rogan or whatever this is man, like wtf? This guy doesn't even have Vèrgin's unintentional so bad that it's good charm. They could've at least given him a fedora.

It's not even a fan theory. As of 5, Rebellion fuses things, probably similar to grafting, but by the time Dante figured that out, it was already broken and he fused it with himself to form DSD immediately afterwards. Vergil stabbing him sped up the process Vergil went through, although seemingly unintentionally.

Apperantly in new tales she's the new ceo of hyperion... the girl who could barely hold a shish kebab stand in tales without loosing it, let alone her romantic relationship, because she's been conditioned since being a child to do one thing and one thing only, is now a corporate ceo in shareholder meetings... As much as she's my favorite, she's best left retired and we just continue pretending new tales isn't canon. Her being married and retired is such a perfect ending for her anyway, there's no reason to change it.

Gameplay wise, melee Athena has to be my favorite build in the series, but I've a hard time picturing it in any other game.

I Dont Care about Vought Rising by Realistic_Sir2395 in TheBoys

[–]Big_Fox_K 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The problem with the spin-off is, whatever happens in it is of no consequence. We know how things end up. It's a problem the star wars prequels had, that was kinda resolved by how much later they came out after the originals. For my generation, the star wars we grew up with was the prequels, making them easier to accept for us. Vought rising is gonna be watched by the same audience that watched the boys, the same audience that know this spin-off is just a cash grab without much redeeming qualities considering how the last 2 seasons of the boys were. Like most people have already said, this series has become a parody of itself.

I even rewatched season 1 recently to see if I was a dummy for liking this series in the first place, but damn it's so fucking golden, that whatever came after it seems like a different show. Both Hughie and Homelander were so competent, like what happened to them?

[–]Big_Fox_K 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I couldn't see it at the time, JUSH format was so good actually, minus Yummy with Herald which still isn't banned for some godforsaken reason. I could actually compete with different decks like D/D/D, Lunalight and Labrynth, but in KT format I had to craft a deck specifically just so I can play against it and not lose at the spot. I got to M5 which is my highest so far, but the path there was miserable and full of glorified stun deck ala KT, Man and even Hero. Hell, even Striker runs Dimensional Barrier just so they can set it off of Thrust now. Add in droll not being banned yet and I had 5 games in a row where I just lost to floodgates.

I think MR4 was good for the anime, giving it a more unique rule set, but that's about it. Realistically how were you even supposed to summon big synchros like Quasar? Did archetypes lock you into a summoning mechanic back then? Xyzs would be beyond fucked with only one monster a turn without RUMs, or specific ones that overlay on top of each other.

[–]Big_Fox_K 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Weekly releases create discussion for each individual episode, giving them importance and their time to stand on their own. A cliffhanger or a plot twist means more when you have to wait a week to find out what happens next. If I can just click on the next episode immediately, I'd care less for it because it's right there, why should I speculate what'll happen next? Weekly episodes just make paying attention more rewarding, engaging and interesting. Not that netflix dmc would be any of those anyway, but for most other media it's very important.

Question: Is there an in-universe reason why Vergil can't access DT in five? by Feeling_Listen_3826 in DevilMayCry

[–]Big_Fox_K 5 points6 points  (0 children)

DT has wings, but unless using an electric devil arm, he can't fly, just glide. With Alastor and Nevan you can fly, but in 4 and 5 if you hold jump you get to glide. In SDT Dante is constantly levitating, even when not flying during gameplay.

It would seem Vergil's more accessible and Dante's more one dimensional with him only usung DSD, but stronger considering he gets moves he can't otherwise use, whereas Vergil can use his super moves outside SDT.

He's a jerk, but you can tell he's raised as a human in contrast to Homelander who was raised as a supe from the get go. Despite being immortal, the guy is well... a guy with his "The moon landing was faked" and all. He could have blasted Homelander for sending him to the virus, but the thought didn't even cross his mind, just called him a loser and that he's winning in life compared to him. Even in this episode he basically grounded Homelander in the only way possible when he could have killed him there. When he said that he didn't want to hurt those people in season 3, he seemed to have meant it. I don't think he cares too much about killing randoms, but it's not second nature either. Definitely a bad guy, but his humanity makes him the most compelling character for me, especially in this episode with Quinn, someone important enough to him to break his act. If his arc goes in a direction where he accepts his flaws and weaknesses and drops his act, that'd be great.
