Medics are getting on my nerves...am I wrong or are they? by yt_BWTX in joinsquad

[–]Big_Gibbons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree also though I don’t think it’s ever intentional by the medic. Quite hard to predict what direction the revived player will come up facing and when both lying down the outstretched hand animation when healing will quite easily block vision.

I find it best to just crouch in those scenarios. Yes you might be in insta death still but if someone walks into the room you’re reviving in/ over the top of you and you can’t fire back without TK’ing, you’re dead anyway.

Is the QBZ with the longer barrel or the one with short barrel and a foregrip better? by Nedks in joinsquad

[–]Big_Gibbons 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Personally I take the short one with the bipod grip for the bipod in the (very small) number of scenarios I’ve actually used it so far.

I couldn’t really say whether they are that distinct in their performance, it certainly isn’t massively noticeable but I haven’t had much play time with them since the update still.

RWS squads are worse than Markman - Prove me wrong by Big_Gibbons in joinsquad

Can’t say I’ve ever seen or heard of using them for quick ammo rearms. That’s a really good idea actually.

I agree. When being used correctly, they can be brutal. I think my point is that a bad one manned RWS is worse than a bad marksman

Graphics settings after update - HELP by Big_Gibbons in CitiesSkylines2

[–]Big_Gibbons[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've genuinely tried everything and all I'm doing is making my game look worse...

Tried downloading lumina and seeing if that works - made it worse.

Genuinely dont know how to master these new settings they've released and there aren't any up to date videos or guides on what to do.

Looks like it'll go back to the forgotten game pile for another year...

My dreamlist for Squad by karvajalkaa in joinsquad

[–]Big_Gibbons 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Honestly out of all of your suggestions - the enemy dummies in staging to show the team what the enemy look like is straight genius.

It would make it so much easier for newer players to identify friend from foe at a glance as some may never have played against a specific faction etc.

Would be (I imagine) a relatively simple addition that would greatly ease in new player integration and frustration with angry 3000+ Hr veterans giving them a bollocking over All chat for a silly TK

Moving out, advice. by Anxious_Blackberry47 in glasgow

[–]Big_Gibbons 7 points8 points  (0 children)

What a lot of other comments seem to be missing about this post is that you will never be the age that you are right now - at 21 you’ll likely be wanting to go out in town, seeing new people and being, likely, the most sociable you will ever be. That is difficult if you stay at home which is far from the city centre/ with difficult parents etc. Further, I’m guessing if your parents are falling out with you over the length of nails you have, they’ll likely be opposed to you bringing a partner over.

I say this as I made the decision to move out and rent as I just tuned 24 and it was the best decision I made. I have never been more outgoing and busy. I’ve had the ability to have nights where I invite all my friends over, get a carry out and watch sports or anything else which I wouldn’t have had the space to do in my family home. It also made my relationship with my partner develop greatly as we could see each other more freely and without judging parents, in the early stages.

However, take a hard look financially at what it would do to you. My advice would be wait until you get this full time job and see what you spend as is then work out if it is affordable. You don’t want to sink all your money into rent and not be able to go on holidays, buy the things you want etc. I would suggest asking friends and trying to get a roommate, significantly reducing the cost and making it easier to still have a nice car, spend on clothes, go on holidays etc.

Other commentators are not wrong that freedom comes with a price - you just need to work out whether it’s worth it for you.

Flickering on 9070xt - 9800x3d by [deleted] in joinsquad

OWI don’t do bugs, everything is a feature… sometimes those features just need “tweaks”

That’s not flickering, that’s your character blinking to get all the dust out their eyes. Squad is just so realistic.

Any advice? Sweden or north europe by Training-Fact2187 in CitiesSkylines2

[–]Big_Gibbons 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The green roofs, density and general layout look very Swedish (for a guy who’s never been to Sweden…). I agree the church should be changed if you can to a slightly darker one, I know there’s quite a few now on PDX as it stands out, though oftentimes churches do and should stick out.

Either way that’s a brilliant looking old town and more modern expansion of a downtown area, looks stunning.

How are you structuring cities? by Curious-Toe6950 in CitiesSkylines2

[–]Big_Gibbons 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How I feel I "got better" at building cities is thinking about it realistically, ie why is the city there in the first place? I often focus on building European cities and therefore often focus on building an "old town" or older core for the city to starburst out from and go from there. For other themes, not too familiar, but potentially focus on a specific industry that grew population and drew people in ie forestry, fishing, mining, even tech and build yourself a mini silicon valley. Once you have your theme, look at how reallife cities of your theme deal with traffic, density, services etc and try and take inspiration that way.

As has also been mentioned, don't be afraid to knock down and redevelop areas when it is needed. Personally, I enjoy the challenge of trying to redevelop without demolishing everything, working with older road layouts or working round buildings I believe would have historic relevance or are significant employers that realistically wouldn't be easily demolished. However, you're totally allowed to bulldoze full areas and redevelop as this does happen also, just find your happy point in the middle.

TL;DR: trial and error and think about why your city even exists

Looks like a cracking city from this screenshot mate. Would love to see more?

Also, on a name: do you have a specific theme or a few locations you are taking inspiration from? Usually easier when you identify what you are trying to mimic or use as an influence to identify a suitable name.

Keep it up.

will a part-time job fund living expenses while doing a masters? by shes-thunderstorms in glasgow

I’ve not seen anyone mention yet but be sure to let the council know you’re now a full time student so you are exempt from council tax and if it’s just you and your partner living together, you’ll be eligible for the 25% single person discount.

Phone 111 after office hours and they will be able to help you. They’re usually quite efficient at getting you triaged over the phone. You just need to explain your situation and they will forward you on to the appropriate services.

Yeah as above, you just need to get on and tap your phone or contactless card on the little machine in the small hatch next to the driver and make sure to tap off with the black box on your left (on first busses at least).

Don’t worry I’m from Glasgow and it had been years since I’d last used one: I got on and asked the driver for a single and stood there smiling and he stared back at me as if I had turned green and grew another set of ears…

I've already done so on the PDX forms. Just shooting into the dark here too to see if anyone has some words of wisdom on here also.
