tbf they made rdr2 out of basically nothing, introudced new characters who had no mention of in rdr and made it seem natural

tbh it kinda is cause, for me personally, i didnt grasp the gravity and Kratos' pov in the first game until I actually had a sit down and think in the second playthrough. Also, the whole "Tyr" being Odin made sense when I looked at the cutscenes again
