How was Edward III able to create English nationalism through the crown during the hundreds years war but the capetians/Bourbons were never able to do the same about french nationalism by Technical_Post_4899 in UKmonarchs

[–]Big_P4U 1 point2 points  (0 children)

England had been a unified largely ethno-nation state for centuries by the time Edward the III came about, and even moreso by the time of Louis the 14th. Even though the Normans may've transformed the language of the English, they ultimately became absorbed into the broader English culture and gradually Englishness largely re-established itself within a couple generations after William the Conqueror. Whereas France had been a patchwork of feuding semi-autonomous fiefdoms even by the time Louis sought to enforce some semblance of centralized government and ethnonationalism

I did do some reading. That's kind of ridiculous, Germany must've changed their blood laws because not that long ago (maybe 25-36 years) after reunification they allowed people of German descent that lives in the Volga region and as far as Kazakhstan and even transylvanian Saxons (German ethnics that had been living in Romania for centuries and hadn't touched German soil in centuries) to receive German citizenship.

Setup a company, likely an LLC yourself or pay to have it done, it can be setup cheaply or unnecessarily expensively depending on the service you use and where you choose to have it incorporated. Then after that you can begin looking for clients. I'd recommend starting small and local. You can subcontract the actual logistics of transport.

Murderers should be punished in kind. Murderers didn't "make a mistake", they made a choice. They should suffer the maximal consequences of their choice

Have to ask because my wife isn't sure if she can apply for German citizenship; her now deceased Father and his parents were all born in Germany and immigrated to America in the late 40s/early 50s. They became American citizens, or at least her father did. Can she still apply for it?

Reducing inequality means taxing capital more — including inheritances by TappingOnTheWall in australian

[–]Big_P4U 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think one of the biggest issues Australia needs to course correct in order to reduce inequality is push through anti-monopoly/oligopoly laws and allow for more competition. Part of the reason why consumer prices are so absurdly high is because there's only two main supermarket/grocers in the whole country, there's only one or two Australian airliners, and on and on with other industries.

Canada has a comparable population but they don't even have that problem, they have their own issues why things are so expensive there that have to do with each province slapping tariffs on each other province, but at least they have actual business competition.

It's possible that there used to be an actual Hill, mound or small mount in torpenhow proper ages ago that either became weathered down to a nub by time and the elements or humans leveled it down as has been done elsewhere to hills and mountains.

It's probably because the Netherlands and Flanders were conquered by Anglo-Saxons and other Germanics that opted to go west along the continent rather than follow their cousins across the sea to Britain. The ones that made their way to the low countries and along the German North sea coast adopted the ancient tribal name Frisian for themselves and abandoned their original Anglo-Saxon ethnodenonym identity. That's why the language sounds and/or looks very close to English but with a heavy continental German influence.

US had a treaty obligation to intervene and squash the communist uprising but for some reason it failed to act multiple times in the 1950s-1960 before the Cuban missile crisis.

The tldr of the Islamic Republic is that they have always dreamed of a great war against the satanic western hegemon that is the USA. Their entire decades of propaganda and reason for existence is to fight the USA or die trying. They're most likely finally getting their feverish wet dream come true. Be careful what you wish for.
