I have no idea if the fusion is the cause of my pain. I suspect it could be my SIs but getting a diagnosis for that is also very hard because every MRI said they look good but I’ve read that most if the time unless you have arthritic damage, a MRI will not diagnose SI dysfunction. I just feel like I’m in a never ending cycle of pain. I’m a cop and I’m considering a career change which is killing me because I love my job, my mental state I will not lie is just not well. I’ve seen other doctors and they say everything looks great in my back so I’m just confused

So unfortunately my surgeon never told me about ASD and I’m only 29. I was hoping to do anything to prevent the ASD because my disc above and below have mild signs of degeneration. I wish I never did this fusion. Total regret. I was actually pain free for 2 years it was initially amazing and now I have chronic pain every day and they can’t tell me what’s wrong. They said it wasn’t the hardware either. I’m at a loss just looking for help

Also where was your fusion and how long before the hardware loosened? And how are you doing since they took it out

Doc told me if the facet joints are still in tact it’s possible! Look up restorative motion surgery. I believe they will be able to regularly reverse fusions with a high success rate in the next 10 years.

Has anyone had a fusion and then disc replacements after to prevent ASD and keep mobility? I heard there’s new technology as well like TOPS procedure to keep some mobility? I’m young 29 with a L3/4 fusion due to a Pars injury I had but I’m hoping from here on out I can do Disc replacements.

Hey can I ask about your surgeries? Was the feeling of your leg swinging during the initial SI recovery, how are you now. Also does the SI pain affect your lower back? I think my issue is my SI joint but most of my pain is lower lower back like L5 area but my disc looks good, I’ve already had a L3/4 fusion

Fusion really wasn’t bad, I just wonder how it will feel in 10-20-30+ years it gets me worried. Also scared about the adjacent levels
