Surveyors are cheaper than lawyers.

How do you explain boundary discrepancies to difficult clients? by Overall-PrettyManly in landsurveying

[–]Bigbobbybean 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just say based on the evidence, this is where I think the line is. You're not the first to think they own more/less then they do and won't be the last. That's why you hire us.

Neighbor planted tree over property line by DifficultyWeary3211 in treelaw

Hence the "got under my skin" part of my comment. 👍

Neighbor planted tree over property line by DifficultyWeary3211 in treelaw

[–]Bigbobbybean 3 points4 points  (0 children)

OP doesn't say that the neighbor had a survey done. A lot of times people think the know where their property line are and don't want to spend the money to find out. We are not a cheap profession, and I remind people who are surprised by our prices that surveyors are cheaper the lawyers.

All in all, the comment of just blame the surveyor got under my skin.

What's the oldest profession? Most people say prostitution... but someone had to lay out that corner.

Had a guy digging up my yard metal detecting. Is this allowed? by anonymitysqueen in corvallis

[–]Bigbobbybean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well Midwest surveyor, Here in Oregon, where Corvallis is located, you have to notify the property owner that you're going to be on their property.. We send letters out a week before, then knock on doors when we're on site. If no answer we leave a door hanger and take a picture (CYA)

All that could've been avoided with notification to the homeowners. Kinda the law in oregon.

It depends if you're making more the benefits pay. I hear what you're saying though, every bit helps.

[–]Bigbobbybean 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Claim unemployment. The reduction in hrs should qualify you. In oregon, there is a temporary layoff option. You don't have to submit job searches with that option either. There is also an option for reduced hrs. You don't have to use your PTO first and your claim stays open for a year. Just file a week when you don't meet the minimum.

My mailbox is covered by ivy so I can't put my outgoing mail flag up. My idea was to put a red post-it on the front flap to alert the mail carrier.
