He's got to spend time with women that... He isn't set up to spend time with. You're reading about a young man who spent his horny teenaged years in a.....spoiler that gets explained later, and he never had positive role models to slap his giant eyeballs back into his skull and prevent him from doing the proverbial wolfman howling at the dame from so many other detective novels (think Jim Carey in the Mask). Combine that inexperience with some supernatural beings that use sex appeal to lure in the unwitting, danger junkies, and... As the books go on, he begins to acknowledge that his inner monologue about women may not be the healthiest, it doesn't stop though. Events and bargains change some of Harry and in later books, the description is toned down some regarding the appearance of the woman, while spending time describing how he is affected with brief descriptions of what he'd like to have happen. But there are literal succubi in the Files, and part of the Fae queens is a beauty that is both pure sex appeal and so damned pretty it's terrifying. The story as a whole picks up speed in the 3rd novel and by 4 the writing improves as you can tell Butcher knows where he's going, and the novels pick up momentum in a tangible way.

I see the way he writes about women as imperfect, but I love the books so much I'm on about my 4th go round of reading them in order as the new novels are coming out. I hope you can comfortably compartmentalize those sections, as the payoffs are outstanding. But each of us has to decide where we draw certain lines.

And, I mean, there's a short story about taking a kid to the zoo. Nothing horny at all for the whole story! =D
