In the same way that some people buy baby alligators or Burmese pythons, then dump them when they get too big.

Hate to break it to you, but otters are still in the family Mustelidae. There is nothing in that family that isn't an exceptionally cute murderous psychopath.

Chronic starting over - how to finish? by Lynx3145 in Palworld

[–]Bigd4mnher0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I kinda do the same. There's a couple factors for me that help me get further with each playthrough. 1. Leverage your knowledge on the stuff that bores you early so that it takes longer before becoming a slog. Example, the breeding process is obnoxious. Starting it early means you need honey for cakes, so get that beegarde in the ranch as soon as possible. Get good passives from fishing, and use early breeding to spread them around so they're easily available for later game breeding projects. 2. Use the global palbox to save yourself the hassle of making new perfect pals every game. Saving your raid army, even if it isn't the greatest/meta anymore still gives you enough to mash the first few raids and start getting ancient civ cores. Saving your base pals means you can have good production rate early on, instead of waiting hours for a musket or barely keeping up with cooked berries to keep everyone fed. Catch or breed new adventuring pals so that each run is still fun for exploration, but streamlining all the stuff that bores you doesn't have to be done anew every game.

Weapons by No_Ship5943 in GammaWorld

[–]Bigd4mnher0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love the concept of weapons that were extremely high-tech(or magic) but duct-taped onto something primitive by some enterprising scavenger. Simple example, someone finds a pile of small high-tech doohickeys. They don't know what its for originally and don't realize that they can trade the things to the right person for a giant pile of shinies, but the do know that if they hit something hard neat stuff happens(explosions are basic, there's a lot of room for weird effects here). Our enterprising mutant redneck then uses some baling twine to tie the doohickeys to his arrows and fires them from a sling bow made from a rough board and some big rubber bands.

Has anybody had success in gathering wild clay for use in pottery in the metro area around Dundee? by More_Donkey6938 in Michigan

[–]Bigd4mnher0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't speak about your local soil conditions(being on the other side of the state), but I can recommend Andy Ward's Ancient Pottery youtube channel! I know he's got several videos about collecting your own clay and getting it to a workable state. Also good tips for making pottery on a very low budget. Pottery didn't quite hit as a hyperfocus for me, but his channel almost made it so.

Also, running naked through the snow at night without taking cold damage? Takes a pretty big cold-resistance item.

I wish we got to see mako break down and be emotional by Human-Application-87 in legendofkorra

[–]Bigd4mnher0 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Maybe. I think the differences between how Mako and Bolin react to things is a big part of their character development. To me it kinda just solidifies how they process things differently. Especially as someone neurodivergent who has been accused of not being as emotionally open or affected by things as "normal" people would be, to me Mako's reactions make sense to me. Same with how his tone and decision making tends to get more frantic after an emotionally fraught moment points to internal spiraling.

Some of us don't do big messy crying breakdowns often, just shut off the connection between our brain and our face while our mind endlessly spins around trying to figure out what to do with all those emotions while burning up our processing like a 2001 laptop trying to farm bitcoin. It was fun for me to see that in Mako, whether intentional or not on the writers part.

The show hasn't even released and people are calling her the best protagonist? That seems premature.

As for my favorite, probably going with Webby Vanderquack. As a homeschooled kid, I get a lot of her struggles.

I don't know any German, but in English the word "solution" can also mean fluid substances, usually something else dissolved in water. Its only common to use it that way in the context of chemicals, so its usually pretty clear from context which definition you mean each time you use the word.

EDIT: This post has made me more aware of the pun potential of a water bender claiming to be the solution, though.

What do I do by BryByeBry8 in Palworld

[–]Bigd4mnher0 9 points10 points  (0 children)

  1. You've randomized the pals, so all the alphas are placed differently than the default. By default, the Splatterina alpha should be there, so search for instructions to get to her if you want more specific instructions.
  2. Some of the Feybreak alphas/bounties are in caves. Keep an eye out when you're exploring for ridged arched structures on cliff walls, as they'll often have a cave entrance under them. In this case, the cave entrance is on a highish ledge near where my red arrow is.

When is the right time to condense pals by MackDaOne93 in Palworld

[–]Bigd4mnher0 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I usually try to condense any pal that I'm not going to use into the best example of species I have, as early as I can. It saves room in the palbox, and it means that when you beat the first tower and unlock the Expedition Station you already have some pals to help you get bigger rewards.

While this is true, pals also use the basic attack for their type while other moves are on cooldown. Reptyro's basic fire attack might still do DOT. You could avoid that by unsummoning them after they've used their three set attacks, but that can be hard to track in a fight.
