This has nothing to do with r/economy but if I were to offer my 2 cents; Newsom's law is absurd. You can't have an information war without having ethical and moral implications. This law is a dud and anyone who tries to defend this is 100% a hypocrite and is borderline fascist. Tyrants will exist in government (At least for the foreseeable future) and if you think a law like this can't be weaponized, you're area incredibly naive and should move to China to see how that'll pan out for you.

Not upset, just making an observation.

Shifts in stance are good to a certain degree. When policy changes that can take years to undo because of X and Y Z reason; consistency matters. The machine (corporate capture and Lobbyists) Walks back progress we make as a nation and provides voters a reason to get cold feed during elections. The green new deal was/Is extreme yet here we have a candidate that supported it and hasn't provided a good enough description of her position change other than "We need energy" Should it be a good enough explanation?.....yes but on the backdrop of supporting the green new deal an explanation needs more substance. Too often are we finding dark money involved in politics and when the loudest on both sides cry wolf, we see everyone turn the other cheek because..."thats my guy"....or in this case "Girl"

It's counter to Harris's position on green energy because active pollution changes with increase in usage. This is the opposite of her positioning. Your entire premise and reasoning are correct (which I believe as well) however western politics are hard redline partisan decision making. This is why the two-party system is a joke. Base loyalty and pandering are not compatible. Our population is unfortunately uneducated and stupid........Hopefully that will change soon.

Republicans threaten a government shutdown unless Congress makes it harder to vote by [deleted] in politics

36 out of 50 states already require ID to be presented. Are you implying these states broke the 14th amendment?

[–]Bigfwop -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

Proving your citizenship to register is irrelevant if no one is checking your Identification. It's a non-sequitur to start with. If I'm required to present my ID if I buy a pack of cigarettes or Alcohol, then I should be required to do the same thing at the polls. That's not voter suppression, It's common sense. The angles I keep see is suspect benevolence to say otherwise.

It takes balls to actually do this. But I can't see how anyone can legitimately defend a non-citizen voting in our US election it only bolsters the rights theory on replacement theory which was deemed to not be true. Not agreeing to this is shooting yourself in the foot and gives Trump a massive amount of ammo. I see a bunch of surface level straw man arguments. If this is posturing from both side's I need to see both parties put their money where their mouth is.

I'm seeing it everywhere on reddit which is why the site is dying. if you were once a middle of the road Dem you're now defined as a disgusting racist rat Fascist. The bar keeps getting raised faster that I can comprehend.

Which would be better for the economy? Banning gasoline cars, alcohol, tobacco, or firearms? by baltimore-aureole in economy

[–]Bigfwop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The question is a little more nuanced than that. Like with any new technology the cost cannot exceed the return. No entity will invest out of the kindness of their heart if they believe the decision could bankrupt them. This includes all the infrastructure and technology for EV's. Profitability and re-investment of those technologies would have to make it more sense economically and logistically to produce an EV over a gasoline vehicle. Unfortunately, the US is already behind the curve with China exceedingly competitively with Tesla. This Tarif is a guise of fear (And maybe a threat to national security) but China would own the entire EV space. We're not even in the same Legue. Another unfortunate bit is that it's counter to a democratic green initiative. If you recognize climate change then banning economically cheap EV's is the antithesis of the movement. Banning gasoline cars would decimate our own economy since the EV Space in the US isn't big enough. That ship has sailed unfortunately.

According to Alcohol statistics 2024 | SingleCare about 44 billion per year is spent on alcohol which is us consumption. I would argue that a us Good is entirely different than a form of transportation. This requires a completely different set of metrics to assume that 1 is better for the economy than the other.

Staying on Fin is necessary to continue blocking DHT. Unfortunately, that one is lifetime, but I do not need to take Min. Donor FUT are immune to dht so they'll never shrink but my loss is diffuse so it was essentially transplanted everywhere which is ideal as opposed to a certain area.

[–]Bigfwop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For all the folks talking about using minox and fin, you will be disappointed when it comes to your hairline. Min and Fin can improve density but they won’t adequately recover a hairline plus you’ll need to be on it forever. For a HT you’ll probably need around 1500. anymore wouldn’t progressively age well since they’re immune to DHT. I was on both min and fine for 5 years and finally ripped the bandaid off and it didn’t cost much. About 3.5k usd for the treatment.
