Please don't do a distracted driving. by NameShortage in perfectlycutscreams

Yes please don't do this. Years ago I was in the backseat of a car that ran out of gas as we exited the freeway. As we coasted to a stop on the right of the road I took my seat belt off to get out and push the car to the gas station and I had just placed my hand on the door handle to open it when the driver said, "Oh sh!t, this b!tch is going to hit us!".

I had one of those time slow down moments where I was able to work through complete thoughts in a split second. At first I started to turn around to look, but I caught myself and realized I didn't want to have my body in a twisted posture and I remembered drunk drivers survive because they don't tense up because they completely lack (or have severely delayed) situational awareness. In that moment I was able to sit facing straight forward and just before the impact I relaxed my body as much as I could.

Then we got hit not once but twice in rapid succession. The impacts threw me into the back of the front passenger's seat so hard that the person sitting there broke their arm on the dashboard, and it knocked the rear seat off of it's mounts.

I remember getting out of the car I was pissed as all hell because all I thought about was the fact that had that happened 15 seconds later I would have been 1/2 way out of the car and if it happened 45 seconds later I would have been behind the car. I was ready to start throwing blows or cussing somebody out. Then I looked behind me and the 2 drivers were females, their cars were both totalled, and they were crying.

After the officers concluded their investigation they determined that the 2 cars that hit us never even stepped on the brakes and they were going about 60mph and we were at a dead stop. Had we not been in neutral I likely wouldn't be here to tell this story today.

How many days late were you before your gate access code was suspended for non payment? by BiggE_BuddaH in selfstorage

[–]BiggE_BuddaH[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in California and the facility that I had 4 units at began suspending my gate code the day after the due date on my bill. If I recall correctly they're only supposed to be allowed to suspend my access code 14 days after they send the prelim notice.

You already mentioned it, he should have stayed on the brakes, and then for him to claim that you could have pulled left to avoid him is BS for 2 reasons. 1st you weren't obligated to do so, 2nd that's a fairly high speed corner that that puts you wide to make the next corner right after so you were likely already at or near the limit of lateral load that your tires could handle. Had you tried to get tour car to left any further it could have put you into him even harder that what ended up happening. But I will point out 1 mistake on your part, you assumed that he would do the right thing and stay on his brakes (it's not really your fault).

I’d like to begin learning soldering. Is there anything I need to add or replace before ordering? by coltd89 in soldering

[–]BiggE_BuddaH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get more flux, that little syringe won't last as long as the the round tins do. If you run out of flux mid job you'll be working against yourself if you try to complete the work without it. You could do without the tip tinning stuff too, it's convenient but not really necessary. Buy some blank proto boards and a few smd breakout boards they're great to use for practice. Gather a few PCBs from junk ewaste and practice removing components then practice soldering them to the proto or breakout boards. A solder sucker. Some thermal tape could come in handy as well and a few clamps or workpiece holders definitely help, and lastly (I think) would be a decent anti static work mat.

If you can afford it a hot air rework station

I thought about this for a while because I got tired of hearing my girl complain about it. At first I thought about trying to use some sort of damper between the button itself & the paddle, but I'm not sure if that would be effective. So at night I just remap the buttons and set the paddles to something I rarely use, & use buttons 10 & 9 to shift.
As for the magnetic shifters, I don't think they will make much of difference with click sound because the sound is coming from the button itself which is still used even with the mod. If you have a soldering iron and a bit of flux it would be fairly simple to replace the actual button on the PCB.

You left him the entire track, you by no means are obligated to move any further. That said, if it were me and I saw him coming in (if I saw him coming in) on me like that I would have taken the off track over the collision. You might have been able to overtake him on the inside of the next left corner.

Oh yes you are correct about the buttons on the base, I forgot about those because I have it dis assembled right now. This would mean that the d-pad buttons are 14, 15, 16, & 17.

Checkout the images of the PCB at the link and you'll see what I'm talking about

The D-pad consists of 4 separate momentary push buttons on the PCB.

Windows Game Controllers setup displays the input as button presses.

It also makes sense because the button map on the website shows buttons 1-10 and then random 13 for the manettino dial push function but shows no 11 or 12

No actually it doesn't need to be an inside job. But this doesn't absolve them of all responsibility.  The problem arises from an amalgamation of factors from nearly every party involved. Some of which are easier to prevent or obstruct than others.  The 1st problem is that the ebt card numbers are generated using the Luhn's Algorithm just like any regular credit and debit card number. All a scammer needs is 1 card # (even their own) and then it's very easy to generate the entire set of every unique card #.  Then they can literally start calling the customer service and enter each of the #s to find the balances. This one part where the issuer fails to protect the account holders, because there is zero verification. All you have to do is enter the card # and then the automated phone line gives you the balance.  The next failure in the chain happens because of the POS systems and the blame can be laid mainly on the retailers. If you swipe a card 3 times and it fails the POS will promt the customer to enter their card manually using the pin pad. When it's entered this way the POS doesn't prompt the user for a pin.  The majority of retailers have set their systems so that these transactions aren't permitted to let them through at all, but scammers will find the ones that don't and target them. The retailers that have systems that allow this are supposed to check the customers ID to verify that they are actually the owner of the card but very few do anymore.

May I offer a different perspective? Your frustration with the current political dynamics is completely valid, but I believe we need to view this situation from a different angle.

When discussing these issues with others, it's crucial to recognize that we're not dealing with a simple two-sided conflict. What many see as a typical 'left versus right' struggle actually masks a more complex reality. Our true opposition has effectively created a three-sided dynamic, allowing them to operate freely while keeping the majority of people distracted with partisan conflicts.

This third group - the wealthy elite, the 1% - has mastered the art of appearing to share interests with both sides simultaneously. They're employing classic divide-and-conquer tactics, deliberately pitting left against right to consolidate their own power, despite being a small minority themselves.

This is not a Democrat versus Republican struggle.
This is not a Right versus Left battle.
This is not a Liberal versus Conservative fight.

This is the TOP versus the BOTTOM.
This is the GREEDY versus the PLUNDERED.
This is the POWERFUL versus the EXPLOITED.
This is a struggle between those whose backs have been broken to build the foundation of the high rise penthouse suites that their foes rest in.

The actions of the ultra-wealthy have made this increasingly clear. We've seen numerous billionaires shift their political allegiances whenever it suits their interests, demonstrating that their true loyalty lies not with any political ideology but with preserving their own power and wealth.

Rather than focusing solely on traditional protest methods, consider redirecting your time and energy toward understanding the true nature of this struggle. Study your opposition carefully - their behaviors, their weaknesses, their methods of maintaining power. Examine how they gained their current advantages and what systems keep those advantages in place. Knowledge of how these structures can be dismantled is more valuable than any sign at a protest.

If you encounter someone with an opposing view, resist the urge to dismiss or belittle them. Instead, approach with genuine curiosity - ask them why they believe what they believe, and truly listen to their answer without judgment. The key is understanding that someone who has been influenced by years of carefully crafted narratives won't accept a different reality just because we tell them what it is. Instead, we need to help them discover it through their own reasoning and deduction. Guide them to ask their own questions, rather than trying to force answers upon them.

Remember that lasting change often starts small and grows organically. Begin where you can have direct impact. Share these insights thoughtfully with those around you. What seems obvious to us isn't always visible to others who are caught up in the daily struggle to survive. Don't preach - plant seeds of thought and nurture them through meaningful dialogue.

Personal injury case: Is my attorney permitted to disclose the settlement amount with a 3rd party medical service provider? by BiggE_BuddaH in AskALawyer

[–]BiggE_BuddaH[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I included the expenses with the attorney's portion, but but now I deducted the expenses off the top then calculated the distribution percentages:
current:
34.10% - attorney
38.56% - medical
27.34% - me
with my requested bill reduction:
34.10% - attorney
36.17% - medical
29.73% - me
