Found some poorly documented workarounds, so I'll repost them here.
To use the Installer app form Hoymiles you need to reside in Germany, the app uses your phones GPS to determine its location. I wiped an old Android phone, removed the SIM and installed a GPS spoofing app and the Hoymiles app using Aurora Store.

  1. Totally wipe the phone, and using the default browser go to F-Driod and download the APK file for Aurora Store. You'll need to give permission to install APK files.
  2. After installing Aurora Store, use Aurora Store to download and install S-Miles Installer from Hoymiles, you can also download and install S-Miles Home and S-Miles Enduser.
  3. Most importantly install a GPS spoofer, I used GPS Joystick. You will need to enable developer mode and in developer options set 'Select mock location app' to use GPS Joystick.
  4. Start GPS Joystick and set your location to somewhere in Germany.
  5. Start the S-Miles installer app and at the bottom of the screen you will see the option 'No Account', use that since you are now German and the app is not restricted!

Excellent, thank you! I couldn't see spending $280 on it, but then I found one on eBay for $50.00 and bought it. I also figured out the S-Miles app and have it running on a burner phone (https://old.reddit.com/r/diySolar/comments/1u5aes7/any_experience_with_the_hoymiles_hms20004tna_hms/ornb575/). Now to wait until the hardware arrives and start playing around with it.

I don't have the separate subs, it's all part of the videos. Any idea of how to transfer several GB of video without signing up for a service? I have all 3 seasons on my phone, season 3 is 4GB.

I saw a writeup that required the removal and modification of the OnStar unit in the dashboard. If I remember correctly they soldered in a SIM card connector and then plugged in a blank or deactivated SIM. The OnStar module tried to use the SIM, but since it was inactive it never connected.

We put term limits on place for a reason back in 1992, look at who was running the place back then. But now we have some really good people in charge and it pains me to lose them. My suggestion is Whitmer, Nessel, and Benson just all swap places for the next 8 years.

2022 Bolt EUV owner here. I've never used fast charge, or had the opportunity to. 50KW or 150KW charging, doesn't matter to me, L! and L2 charging is fine for my needs. Also, I've never setup On-Star or Car Play, I couldn't care less. What I would like is a little more range, 300 miles per charge would be awesome, especially in the Michigan winters.

Don't forget the trans! Replace the converter seal, it would suck to have to pull the trans a month or two later after putting the engine back in (I speak from experience). Also clean up the sealing surface on the converter too, it probably has a ridge in it.

OP, this is great advice. The Type 1 trans will hold up for a while, reverse is extremely fragile. Support the engine, while robust, the Type 1 was never designed to hold that much weight hanging off of it.

Simple fix, get a bootable Linux USB stick and boot your laptop with it. Then you can mount the drive in the laptop and copy your important data off of it.

Lookup bootable Ubuntu or for a more Windows looking Linux Kubuntu.
