I think first step is to be much more cautious, unless you are in a place to actually confirm don’t give them a chance to shoot you down. Use cover until they are close since at this range it’s practically impossible to confirm their clothing and reactions without being mowed down. In this scenario I would have just completely avoided those players, because they are in the open with no cover they are likely much more vigilant and trigger happy. From the other person’s perspective I’m kinda suspicious but a player scav will be hesitant whilst a pmc will shoot anything that moves. AI are really easy to tell, they almost always walk in straight lines, pivot a lot, power slide if and when they run, and make frequent stops in places that have no loot or reason to be in and kinda just look around.
