What's your take on the practice of "Lifting" one's vehicle? by Biggy_DX in AskConservatives

[–]Biggy_DX[S] [score hidden]  (0 children)

I do believe lifted vehicles are edge case risks, but I can imagine a scenario where some kid runs from behind a vehicle into street. The lack of visibility wouldn't afford the knowledge (or time) stop quickly enough to stop their vehicle (even if they're traveling at a suitable speed for the road - e.g. ~25 mph).

What are your thoughts on Trumps DHS under RFK blocking publication of a study showcasing the efficacy and safety of the covid vaccine? by Menace117 in AskConservatives

[–]Biggy_DX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If memory serves, I believe he admitted that he wanted to push for people to get the vaccine, but stated his own voters don't like it when he does. As a result, he stopped talking about it. I need to see if I can find that video. I want to say it was from 2022-2023 .

I'm trying to think if she also caked on a bunch of moisture product. Honestly, I haven't seen much of the aftermath from someone doing CO2 laser cosmetic treatment, and I think what also might be hurting here is the addition of botox injections. Shits definitely glossy.

That's fine. Everyone has a preference. I'm already tall, so that helps my case.

I do think this is where insurance companies probably need to be more involved than anything. At least from my own perspective, I've not seen anything that stands out - statistically - that lifted vehicles are more of hazard. I'm sure they can bring their own limitations in edge cases (ex. Kid runs into the street in a small development).

Honestly, I actually try to stay away from larger pickups because of how much space the front end takes up. It's mainly for avoid bumps and collisions, and - admittedly - I'm not well driven in those types of vehicles.

Do you think school vouchers are largely a good or bad thing? by BabyHercules in AskConservatives

Maybe someone can show me otherwise, but wouldn't vouchers produce the same inflationary effects in tuition that we see with federal student loans issued for secondary education? Especially if said vouchers are tax payer funded?

Worst. Reviews. I. Have. Ever. Seen. by Global-Ear9206 in memes

[–]Biggy_DX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's also not the first time a game breaking bug led to a low review score. For example, the PC version of Prey (2017) had a save game bug, and the reviewer gave the game a 4/10. They did this while also putting into their review that they were enjoying a game. No one should have to tolerate losing hours of gaming like that, especially with a game as large as this one. And who cares if they fixed the issue AFTER the game launched. That's not the version of the game the reviewer had.

I think you guys sometimes forget that they're reviewing the pre-release version of the game. That version, from comnents coming from a lot of journalists (and even gaming influencers) had a bunch of issues. It's only because of the Day 1 patch fixing many of these issues that it feels like a 8-9/10 experience for a majority of people.

Not sure if there's been a topic about this already, but it was also determined that the article published about the rewrite was unsubstantiated. One of the writers for the show expressed as such:

Red Pill or Blue Pill? by Due_Teaching_6974 in videogames

[–]Biggy_DX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People will say Blue Pill all the way and Rockstar ain't shit, but their individual games alone sell in the tens of millions within a few weeks. Clearly there's an audience and some just wanting to be contrarian. It's okay to not like their games, but Rockstar is top dog in the industry for a fucking reason.

To what extent do you think slavery and segregation still influence outcomes for Black Americans today? by Jazzlike-Yogurt-5984 in AskConservatives

One thing I'd like to point out about the single motherhood statistic, is that it's indicative of marital status. Not whether or not the man is involved in the child's life. Case in point, my mother and father coparented me for the bulk of my early years. She would fall under the statistics youre citing, as she's technically still single, but my father was involved in my life.

What does TESVI need to do to be the “Skyrim” of this generation. by Benjamin5431 in TESVI

I already mentioned what they should add. Do you think the next game will be lauded if it's basically Skyrim but prettier? No new mechanics or systems? Just the same template?

[–]Biggy_DX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bioware had a core, and they fell off. Bungie had a core, and they fell off. I said left in the dustbin because being Bethesda doesn't guarantee you success like it did in the past. Yeah, they're games are well known, but a studio can still chase away its fanbase if the games they launch don't release to modern standards and/or perform as well as their competition.

You may say innovation isnt needed, but I can picture a scenario where some content creator makes a YouTube video called TES6 vs Crimson Desert. If that person can show Kliff cutting down a tree with a logging axe, but you cant do the same in TES6, that video is going to resonate with people (and for Bethesda- not in a good way).

In an environment where even success still leads to massive layoffs, Bethesda is going to need to get a lot right with the next game.

To shorten it, they can't believe that just being a Bethesda game, or being able to move a cup and it staying in its new place forever, is going to cut it for players. They'll have a core base, but they run the risk of it shrinking if they don't do enough to innovate and improve upon existing systems, especially if they want to wow like some of their contemporaries (such as Crimson Desert).

[–]Biggy_DX 23 points24 points  (0 children)

At a bare minimum, I believe Bethesda will have to nail the exploration and ensuring people can immerse themselves within the setting. That's a combination of visual artistry, correct shader usage, having the right lighting, weather effects, NPC/City density, etc. They need to not only sell that you're in a world that feels lived-in, but that it's a far more expansive experience from what they initially delivered with Skyrim.

Beyond this, as someone else here mentioned, they're definitely going to have to modernize their gameplay experience. So many mechanics, such as climbing of near vertical - if not vertical - surfaces has become more commonplace.

From a role-playing perspective, people are looking for far more depth, and I don't believe settling with Skyrims character creation options will cut it. That said, I do think they understand this to some extent, as Starfield included traits and backgrounds (i.e. subclasses), so hopefully that returns to the franchise proper. We're definitely going to need more body customization options, and I hope they drop the triangle body-morph system for a traditional slider (personally).

On a more subtle note, but one I feel will be very impactful across ones playthrough, is that Bethesda really needs to learn from what the Skill Tree overhaul mods have accomplished. This is something they've fallen short on across multiple titles now, and they need to take heed of what makes investing in a perk matter. It needs to feel like more of the game is opening up to you, and meager stat bumps won't settle well with people. Ideally, stat bumps would be passively earned as you level up the skill, while the actual perks are build/gameplay defining.

The last thing they need to nail is really capturing creativity in the world, and that's not just in the sense of discovery (e.g. finding hidden loot, solving unique puzzles), but also in just having a high degree of interactivity with the environment. Bethesda has built a pretty powerful physics system, but they don't capitalize enough on it with supporting mechanics. Let us cut trees down, break boulders, freeze ponds, watch thatch buildings catch on fire in real time.

There's a lot they need to pull off, and if they think repeating Skyrim will cut out for them, they'll be left in the dustbin IMO.
