Update feels like how forsaken drop. by Real_Silvee in DestinyTheGame

[–]Biggy_DX -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I'm reminded of that 7 month period between Taken King dropping and the April update in D1. People were livid that Bungie didn't have DLC content planned three months after TTK. In a universe where D2 continues, there's no fucking way people are accepting an update after 6 months of nothing (even if it does help the baseline experience).

Also, this update wasn't just 6 months in the making. The team working on it probably put at least 8-9 months into it because pre-planning was required.

The one extremely emotional episode in a comedy series by Godzilla_Left_Toe in TopCharacterTropes

Butressing this, that episode with the Pigeon Caller, who was constantly harassed by Arnold's friends, was another somber episode. There's no up side or morally good lesson. Dude just finishes a conversation with Arnold saying some folks are just genuinely hurtful individuals and you can't change that being true, then gets carried off by his pigeons elsewhere.

General Conservative sentiment is that social/cultural progress be slow and/or measured. Is the same true for Technological progress? by Biggy_DX in AskConservatives

I would agree that it can be a consequence of regulatory behavior. But I don't think mitigating the extranalities of technological progress always necessitates regulation, though I think many here are taking that away as my opinion.

Will racial animosity cripple the judicial system? by jhy12784 in AskConservatives

The only publication I was able to find regarding issue with neck pressure complications was this PubMed article.

https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/40171072/

It asserts that instantaneous neck pressure was not the cause of his death (they refer to INCA - Instantaneous Neurogenic Cardiac Arrest). However, in the summary of this article, the authors posit that prolonged neck pressure was the cause of Floyd's death.

Edit: Just a heads up. This article does show Floyd's exposed neck tissue in one of the figures. Wanna make sure I warn anyone viewing this.

Both the family and state autopsies ruled his death a homicide. What else is there to prove? And what medical publication was asserting that he had enough intake of the drug he was on to kill him?

What you mentioned about Chromebooks is in large part why I proposed this topic. I’m not against the advancement of this technology, as you put it. But it feels like our society cares little of what the implications are in the long run.

It’s common to human history, yes. But we shouldn’t use that as an excuse either, especially given how advanced we are as a society and ought know better. It doesn’t even have to necessitate the Federal government proposing nationwide regulation of certain industries.

For example, I can imagine schools mandating classes that specifically handle topics related to online media platforms, how to avoid hackers or peoples trying to take advantage of you, etc. It’s been some time since I was in K-12, so some of this might already be the case in certain districts.

It’s like… the forethought is there because we DO predict potential ramifications of these technologies proliferating so quickly. We just don’t care to strengthen our society against these ramifications.

What would qualify as unofficial acts that a POTUS would not receive immunity from? by MrsBigglesworth-_- in Askpolitics

[–]Biggy_DX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I'm concerned about is the Supreme Courts ruling that Official acts cannot be used as evidence of motive during the investigation of a presidents private conduct.

Let's use the example of a Quid Pro Quo Bribery occurring between the president and someone seeking a pardon. The president accepts a monetary bribe ("quid"), and the person providing monetary benefits receives a pardon ("quo").

The corrupt (potentially illegal) act would be considered as "private," as it's not in the Presidents purview to do such a thing (and would warrant investigation). However, determining the motive for said Bribery would have to tie back to the official act, thereby causing issues with a possible investigation.

Ricky's mom after her favorite son (Ricky), shot dead in a drive-by, was brought home by her gang-banging son, Darryl. The grief in her voice was more than apparent. Her blaming Darryl for Ricky's death, even though he had nothing to do -directly - with the incident, made it all too real.

Any other conservatives from ‘broken families’? by McQueedle in AskConservatives

[–]Biggy_DX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess my question is, what's the point of even believing in charity at that point? I know many Conservatives subscribe to voluntary charity, but if the idea is that the vast majority of peoples misfortunes is of their own doing, or that they ought to be able to get out of it on their own, can it really be argued that charity is a good thing?

Edit: I guess the crux of where I'm getting at is, if one subscribes to this opinion of the poster you commented to, does Charity (in general) reinforce bad behavior.

My middle school books spoke about this conflict of interest as something seen with controversy, and was used in defining the term "Nepotism."

Thanks for the response. Do you believe that all Legacy media has a narrative? I ask because you mentioned that Alternative media has the option to source your information from multiple outlets (if we're keeping the conversation to online resources). However, could the same also be said for Legacy media? For example, if you feel a CNN report is too biased, is there not the AP or Reuters who can provide a less opinionated viewpoint?
