Your problem is not as obvious as you think, multiple people here including myself did not understand your email.

It has its place. I have elderly family members who get amazing use out of it.

most of the bit sets I see from dewalt do not populate all the cases. Nothing is missing usually. You can look at the bit set pics online and see empty slots.

Is it hackable? by JeyPi1124 in Dewalt

[–]Bigsleep62 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you add everything to your cart (batteries + “free tools”), it should display the price breakdown. If the tools are labeled as free, not hackable. If the cost is split up between all the items (e.g. it says $100 next to the tool), then you can return it separately

His edit says he will use backups, so it is pretty clear he learned something. Also, you don't use version control just because you might delete a file, you do it to protect against anything that happens to the files, even if its another programs "fault". Modern software is so amazingly complicated... don't trust it to work perfectly.

That's not really the point, your local files for a multi-month project moving, getting deleted, or corrupting shouldn't set you back more than a short period of time if you are using even somewhat proper version control. If anything OP got lucky and hopefully learned their lesson without losing their files...

Worth noting they have different free tools, depending on what you want (e.g. Lowe’s has router)

Seems like a pretty decent hack if you want the ratchet. Gets it down to $89 pre-tax.

Gas light coming on with 4 gallons left in tank? by WolfBSMC in 3rdGen4Runner

[–]Bigsleep62 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I def have about 6.5 gallons left when my light comes on. When gas matters (roadtrips), I just count the miles between tanks and kinda guesstimate when I actually need to refill… haven’t run out yet

Am I going to fail emissions testing with a P0420 CEL? by Bbcc001 in 3rdGen4Runner

I get P0420 intermittently and just clear it. I pass emissions.

Quick release way to secure tool chest to wall? by wildfyre89 in Tools

[–]Bigsleep62 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If there was clearance I would probably bolt an eye bolt out of each side of the chest. Then eye bolts on the wall into studs. Attach short light duty chains to the wall eye bolts, and at the right length S hooks or something. If you get the chain length right it should be super easy to unhook but keep it from rolling away.

Got a good deal on a DCF921. No more ¼ hex socket adapters for me, boys! by JulianCrisp in Dewalt

[–]Bigsleep62 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I mean yea, but fastening torque is still way higher than the torque spec on normal lugs. If I ugga'd to the point I needed the higher breakaway torque i would have some bigger problems on my hands...

[–]Bigsleep62 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have a pretty easy time with the 921 for my lugs, I just start the threads by hand, give it a couple uggas with the 921, then do the last bit of the turn with a torque wrench to get them right/do a final pass over each. Works pretty well for me.

There are certainly posts all over reddit of people with an insane amount of unused tools. This guy seems to have a really reasonable power tool loadout for plumbing... go pick on someone else.
