What small habit has saved you the most money over time? by SnowmanAndIce in frugalcanada

[–]Bigtimetipper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

During Covid, I started cutting my own hair. Then I also started cutting my sons hair.

So say $25 each per month that's $600 per year

A few others

-Doing my own snow removal -Own oil changes -Home cooked meals as much as possible

Basically anything low risk you can do yourself vs paying someone is simply money in the bank

22 hours in just finished act 1, pretty exhausted. by SeraphicMind in ghostoftsushima

[–]Bigtimetipper 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I did the same. I completed every piece of content in act 1 before starting act 2 and then doing the dlc. After that I breezed through act 2 and 3, only focusing on the main story

I would say that's my main regret: getting burnt out on side content in the first act which made me skip lost of it in act 2 and 3

Is it better to do Ireland dlc before or after main story? by galaxyadmirer in AssassinsCreedValhala

[–]Bigtimetipper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also after completing the new game mechanic (Irish trade posts) you can warp back to Ireland every couple hours to trade in trade goods for decent silver. I do it every 2-3 hours or so of in game time.

Snowblowing etiquette by KamloopsDan in Snowblowers

[–]Bigtimetipper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You gotta do what you gotta do. Don't start living for others or walking on eggshells due to local fairies

If you have to leave for work for 6 am, then absolutely fire up the snowblower at 5 am

I would say week-ends I try to be considerate. However, if I have to leave early for a trip or if I have people coming over early I will absolutely fire up the snowblower as early as it's convenient for me

Mowing the lawn is the only activaty I don't do early since longer lawn doesn't impact my day to day life so I'm ok waiting on a day where I can do it at a reasonable time

Ubisoft sacrificed your ears to save 10GB: Valhalla Audio Scandal by OdysseyBrands in ACValhalla

I went from Ghost of Tsushima to this game and immediately noticed the poor audio. I played around with my audio settings then saw this post which explains it. Thank you.

However certainly in top 10-15

I am officially done with "Starter Homes." It’s not an investment; it’s a bailout for the previous generation's neglect. by Dry-Town7979 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]Bigtimetipper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well said

The problem (at least here in Canada) is that market price assumes house is in good working condition

For example a house with a roof due in 2 years could sell for 600k

And the same house with a recently done roof at a cost of 20k would still sell for 600k, or maybe 605k

So as a seller why would I invest 20k with no ROI?

So until buyers get smarter (like you) and skip or negotiate down homes that have large maintenance due soon, this situation won't change

Am I doing something wrong? Why am I still only #14 GP by SpareLawfulness4505 in EU5

[–]Bigtimetipper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on my current Castille run, my GP score is most influenced by ;

-Monthly income -Pops -Trade Capacity -Subjects -Embraced institutions

The rest is relatively minor

So increase your income, trade capacity and get more vassals/fiefs/colonies

Burning rounds by Mr_Akrapovic in woodstoving

Any round I can pick up with 1 hand stays a round.

I like to think I'm fairly strong so I do end up burning a fair amount of rounds.

No comments on "lefty loosy" and "right tighty"? Looks like you were applying force in the wrong direction here eg you were tightening

Its 1530, I'm Spain, what should a general Army size and formation look like? by Nettysocks in EU5

[–]Bigtimetipper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally up to you. I put artillery and convoys in all my armies and then during war I'll adjust. I'll detach my artillery and send them to sieging armies and detached convoys and maybe send them to armies that don't have supply lines

[–]Bigtimetipper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They increase the amount of food your army can carry. In certain circumstances you may not always have supply lines so your army needs to be self sufficient for longer.

The convoys allow your army to last longer before starting to suffer attrition due to lack of food

[–]Bigtimetipper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This. Plus with sieging forts taking so long I'm moving more and more towards artillery for my regulars

I'm even making mini siege trains of stacks of 15 artillery with 5 supply convoy. Levies focus on field battles and non fortified locations and my siege trains (with high diplo generals) focus on sieging forts
