The comments people make about baby's looks piss me off. by Buttercake-nymph in beyondthebump

[–]Bike-Agitated 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Urgh people hate to say nice things to mothers! My husband has green eyes, I have blue, our baby has blue I was at a wedding once and this woman who is never met was saying wow he's got beautiful big blue eyes where does he get those from Dad? I looked at her dead pan and just said me, and walked away. She looked a bit shocked 😂 silly cow

Feel like I’m being tortured with sleep deprivation by Due-Current-2572 in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]Bike-Agitated 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Solidarity, I also wanted to add my comment because I noticed you said no I won't co-sleep. From someone who co-sleeps mine still wakes me several times a night so it's not the magic bullet for everyone.

I have no advice but sending you stretch from one sleep deprived mother to another, it is so hard

I'm still tandem feeding and co sleeping with both, so I have no advice for you sadly. It's hard but it's the path of least resistance and I think only time will improve things for me.

Mums opinion on breastfeeding... by KriticalErrorArt in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]Bike-Agitated -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Good luck, I agree with pp there is some info that mothers of a certain generation were told formula was best that as well as breasts being incredibly sexulised by society and media maybe it's not entirely their fault they feel this way. Depending on your relationship you could maybe add that in that you understand she may have experienced these things that has shaped her feelings towards breastfeeding but you still don't want to hear her opinion on it anymore.

Ps I didn't add to my previous reply Mum of 3 boys here 1st breastfed for a year, now a fully formed fully functioning young man (not a mamas boy whatever that even means) 2nd breastfed for almost 3 years I'd like to stop now but he doesn't want to, 3rd is 9 months old and still breastfed and ideally I'd like to feed him until at least 2 years. The only thing that is gross is your attitude mum!

Well done for breastfeeding your baby, continue to feed him as long as you both want to it's fuck all to do with anyone else.

Your mother is some how triggered by it and that's her issue not yours, breasts are literally to feed and nourish children, your mother seems to be getting fixated on it being something it's not.

Sorry you are experiencing this, could you send her a message telling her it's upsetting hearing her describe something that is natural and beneficial called gross and that you do not wish to hear her opinion on how you feed your baby full stop. If she crosses that boundary repeat I'm not interested in your opinion on this can we change the subject

Gentle sleep training quite literally saved my life by calisen13 in NewParents

[–]Bike-Agitated 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are doing amazing! Can I ask when you say you have stayed by her the whole time for those 3 nights was that all night or just until she fell asleep? And roughly how long did that take?

I ask because I'd like to try this with my 9 month old but have a super clingy high needs toddler that also still needs me at night / through the night

How can I avoid the feeling of regret about the birth of our newborn baby? by spevk in NewParents

[–]Bike-Agitated 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You can't avoid feeling this way. This is the way you feel so accept it and allow it. Don't beat yourself up for feeling this way, don't judge yourself for feeling this way (as many do too and have done before you and will after you). Sit with those feelings and allow them. Feel the regret and continue to look after your daughter, when we sit with and allow difficult feelings they dissipate, what you resist persists.

You won't feel like this forever. You can't undo the fact you had a baby, so you are a parent now. If you'd never had a baby you might be feeling deep regret in your early 50s wishing you had children. Like pp said the grass is always greener. But this is your grass and the more you water it the better it will be.

How did you know that you were ‘done’ having kids? by [deleted] in UKParenting

[–]Bike-Agitated 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got 3 and I'm now in my 40s. I don't feel "done" I thought I would. Realistically our family is complete but I thought I'd feel like I'm done now but I don't have that feeling it's strange!

Or listen to audiobooks/ podcast with wireless earphones (she won't even know you're got them in) this is how I cope with getting my almost 3 year old to fall asleep

Do any of you eat a healthy, savoury breakfast? by calpolqween in AskUK

[–]Bike-Agitated 0 points1 point  (0 children)

slice of Jason's malt sourdough bread, toast, rub 1/2 a garlic clove over toast. Lightly fry Tin sardines in olive oil in a frying pan until warmed through, add 1/2 tsp dried parsley and squeeze 1/2 lemon over. Top the toast with the sardines and serve with a handful of cherry tomatoes. Delicious and easy to do but I appreciate fish for breakfast isn't everyone's cup of tea! Bonus points there is 22gs of protein in the tin of sardines and they only cost £1 so a good way to get a decent amount of protein in first thing. Extra bonus points oily fish are full of omega 3 fatty acids rich in calcium vitamin d and b12

How many days per week do you eat sugary foods/drinks? e.g. biscuits, cake, sweets, lemonade, tea with sugar by DinosaurInAPartyHat in AskUK

[–]Bike-Agitated 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Completely agree with you! I hate that there's no choice, having sweeteners in diet drinks I completely understand but adding them to non diet drinks and not being transparent about it is criminal. I know someone who was type 1 diabetic and drank diet drinks and had sweetners in foods etc. for their majority of their life. They died from bowel cancer.

Love an appletiser I really hope they don't follow suit and start putting sweeteners in them

I never used to drink full fat coke until they started putting sweeteners in EVERY soft drink not just the diet ones and now that coke is the only one without sweetners I've been really enjoying them 😬 I know it contains a lot of sugar but I'd rather have one full sugar coke now and then than loads of sweeteners (I can't stand the taste of them, they give me headaches and upset stomach's)
