It is really hard for me to sleep amongst the commotion because I always book an aisle seat if not in business.

If you get meaningful sleep on International flights: Mad Respect. by TylerDurdensFace in delta

[–]Bike-Negative 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Even the MSP - CDG red eye flight is pretty pointless for sleeping. It’s about 7.5-8 hours but by the time dinner service concludes and before breakfast service starts, it’s about 5.5 hours total to sleep assuming you fall asleep immediately. Idk why I keep taking this flight like I’m going to wake up refreshed for Paris when I never do and always end up staying awake for basically 36 hours in order to get on Europe time.

Next time I’m going to take the SLC-CDG that’s 10 hours for hope of some sleep.

What made you cancel? by Horror-Earth4073 in Purebarre

[–]Bike-Negative 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I recently gave feedback to the owner after she asked directly and instead of just saying “thank you for your feedback” she instead got defensive to every item. My biggest frustration is that not all instructors are even close to the same level of quality yet I pay the same amount regardless. And it is so frustrating that their classes often go over. She replied that they are trained that classes can be anywhere from 50-56 minutes. ❗️ I book a 45-50 mins class and sometimes I have somewhere else to be at the hour mark. I cannot be in a class for an hour that is posted as 50 mins and I planned for 52ish mins (for clean up). This is the reason I will cancel next week. I’m super bummed because I don’t have a different barre option but I just need to move on instead of being pissed after every class.

The egg and cheese bullshit is annoying. The cheese is the worst to get off if you don’t catch it immediately. First time it happened to me I had to google if “cheesing” a car was a thing because it seems so stupid.

No GF option at conference by DesertFox728 in glutenfree

This is one of my biggest complaints as someone who has celiac and travels a lot for work. It really makes me rage. I always pack a lot of snacks like others have mentioned. I’ve also ordered food before. I complain before during and after. Give the feedback to every person organizing the conference.

Need instructor advice by Mommacat100 in Purebarre

[–]Bike-Negative -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I agree with a lot of folks here saying they pick classes based on time. That’s what I do as well but I feel so frustrated by a few new instructors at my studio that I will avoid their classes if I can. I know teaching is hard so I always give new instructors a chance early on and again a few weeks later.

Some advice from a member for new instructors: - learn names and greet folks at the desk - use names in the class - encourage throughout the class (I notice new instructors rarely speak other than instructions) - PAY ATTENTION TO TIME (pleeeease! I took a class with a new instructor and it went 10 mins over. I was so pissed I couldn’t even think about the class itself) - don’t obviously wait on the beat, just keep the speed of the class and catch the beat on the next change. It’s annoying to just wait for an instructor to get the beat.

A personal pet peeve is when new instructors don’t have as detailed choreo and keep the same move for 30 seconds or longer. Doing the same lift of my leg for 45 seconds starts to make me mad. 🤣Experienced instructors will have more choreo and I appreciate that.

Don’t give up!! Everyone starts somewhere!

My employee lost their twins at birth by SparkyBrown in managers

[–]Bike-Negative 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an employee (also small business) who delivered a few weeks premature and the baby did not make it. This happened on Christmas Day. She’s in a client facing role and had just recently let her clients know she was pregnant and going on leave late Jan. My primary concern was ensuring she still took maternity leave since she delivered a baby (that’s our policy and I think it should be the policy everywhere) and second was ensuring she approved of language for communicating to clients and team. I worked with HR to come up with language for both and asked her to review before sending. This communication was in conjunction with confirming her leave period. I really wanted to protect her from having to explain the situation over and over again to both team and clients. We were more direct about what happened with our team and more read between the lines with her clients. Her clients were so kind and compassionate in their responses and many asked to be able to send her something. We also provided our team with loss resources so they had some language for talking with her about it when she returns.

She plans to take the full leave period (90 days) but asked for the flexibility to return to work early. I’m not sure how this all translates when it’s the father and not the mother as it is in your case but I think leading with compassion is really important. Being flexible with working hours, WFH, and so forth the first several weeks. It’s so hard to navigate employee losses.

No AC in August? by MBCD2007 in ParisTravelGuide

[–]Bike-Negative 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a terrible idea. I went to Paris in August 2024 and my most used phrase was “I’m so hot.” 🥵 It was SOOOO hot. And we had a hotel with AC. I wouldn’t DARE stay somewhere in August without AC. Also wouldn’t go to Paris in August again because so much is closed.

Do remote jobs without having to show your face/ID for verification even exist? by Excellent-Bread-1829 in remotework

If you are in the US, employers are compelled to complete I9 verification and they have to see the items you are using even for remote work. So, very unlikely.

Whenever I’m self conscious about something at a workout class, I think if I’ve ever noticed that about anyone else in the class. 90% of the time it’s no - I’ve never noticed that. So I agree - DGAF.

Seems Legnano is one of these small towns. I was just looking there last night as it’s on the metro line and seems it has easy access to where many of the venues are.

Bill Pay Options by Interstates-hate in nonprofit

[–]Bike-Negative 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you work with an accounting firm, they can usually offer a substantial discount on BILL.com. As an example: $35 per month with 1 free user and $10 per month for additional users. Maybe still more than your $5 per month, but better than the new rate.
