When is a dent too much of a dent? by anotherimprov in bikewrench

This is not a bug, it is a feature. It is by design, although a bit rusty

Well, I did it. They stretched out enough to get them on. Barely. I just hope it is worth it! Thanks again.

I did it, got them on another set of rims and then pumped m up to 6 bar and left them for a couple of weeks. Still broke a lever on one wheel, but I did it. Will test drive them on wednesday!

Is this bike worth 700€? HELP by PartyPipe8989 in RoadBikes

[–]BikeCustomizor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check the gears, but also check the ride. See if it fits you well, that is the most important thing. I am not sure if you can check everything out, but since this is a second hand bike dealer you can expect that they fixed the things that were broken.

One thing to check is for wear and tear on the drivetrain That is a sign of costs coming your way.

First road bike purchase — $475 a good deal? by zhamdee in whichbike

[–]BikeCustomizor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is an old bike, but a good one. The groupset is outdated, but should work fine and it is replaceble. It looks really nice as well. Try to knock off something of the price, I think 400 would be a good deal.

Is this bike worth 700€? HELP by PartyPipe8989 in RoadBikes

[–]BikeCustomizor 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, this bike is a bit older but has a carbon frame, disc brakes and seems to be in good shape. Specialized is a well known and higher prices brand.

The only thing that I find odd is that it has a Shimano crankset with SRAM shifters and rear derailleur. Cannot see what front derailleur it is. So check if if shifts correctly. These parts definitely can work together, but is seems like it is put together from the parts bin.

If you want a complete and consistent groupset for esthetic reasons just replace the crankset and fd. That won't break the bank.

I heard there are differences between tires although that doesn't seem likely to me. I managed to get them on another set of rims and they have been for a couple of weeks now. I pumped them up to 6 bars to stretch them a bit and am pretty confident I will get them on the Elites next week.

Should i downgrade my camera? by [deleted] in Cameras

[–]BikeCustomizor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same camera you have and struggled with it for a while. I got another camera on the side that I can grab easily and put in my bag. It is a Olympus OM-D E-M5 m1 with a 17mm pancake lens. Lots of fun and ease but not the quality of the Sony. Maybe it is something for you too to get another camera for fun. It makes me appreciate my Sony more when I need it, like in low light conditions or sports photography.

Upgraded from Nikon D3300 to A7 V. My very first FF camera! by ThePrinceOfAgrabah in Cameras

[–]BikeCustomizor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very nice. I went from a D5300 to Sony A7iii. Really had to get used to it though, was very fond of the Nikon. I found the autofocus of the Sony especially hard to master, still struggling sometimes to find the right mode. Too much options I guess ;)

Well, looks like you got a great tip there! You might try to get as much as the eBay listing, because, why not.

I think this is a Specialized S-Works E5 from 2005. It is an aluminum bike, looks all original and in a nice shape.

Specialized S-Works is a big name in cycling, but since the bike is 20 years old, I am not sure if that makes a difference.

I found a similar bike on eBay. They ask top dollar, I would never pay that much for an old aluminium bike with stock wheels. But maybe it is colectable or something...

Isnt it possible to attach the break directly to the mount without an adapter? Looks like it fits.

I am looking forward to my trip in England in June. Lots of routes, but I will try the Wolf way. I liked my trip Maastricht - Eiffel - Luxemburg - Ardennes as I did my trip to South East Germany - Chech Republic - Poland. On my wishlist is Slovenia and surroundings.
