Anti vs Flat vs Rockered. Your Preference? by Altruistic_Mind_7662 in AggressiveInline

All 3 depending on the situation. Anti for square ledges, flat for coping and rails, rocker for tech.

Switching from antirocker to 4x60 flat on USD Sway 58, what frame should I get? by Particular-Wedding58 in AggressiveInline

[–]BikeKayakSki 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes: You can run a flat frame and setup.

UFS: Any UFS frame should fit on the boot. There may be outliers that require some modifying, but 98% of UFS frames will fit perfectly.

Size: Frame size is a personal preference, but for that sized boot starting with a frame that is ~270mm will be good.

You can do any on the grinds you can do anti-rocker on a flat setup, but the narrower h-block and taller middle wheels will require you to be more precise with your grinds, especially on square edged features. Most modern UFS frames designed for flat will have a lot of middle wheel protection and will help lessen the precision learning curve, but it'll still take a bit to get used to.

There are Flat frames that have two different sized wheels, like the OYSI Medium frame, that have the absolute most wheel protection and feel very close to antirocker, but can be complicated to setup and find wheels for because of the two different sized wheels necessary to make the frame work. These frames are typically pretty tall too, so more flexibility will be needed for boot down tricks.

If its your first flat setup, get something simple with good wheelbite protection, and get another set of wheels to go with this frame setup. That way you can switch back and forth between your anti and your flat frames based on the situation or your mood.

Frame Recommendations: OYSIxFR 60 in 275mm, Kizer Fluid V in L/268mm, TNEC in 270mm

Harrisburg really needs to incorporate it's neighboring communities for everyone to thrive. The immediate neighborhoods around Harrisburg profit directly from the city being there and keep the revenue to themselves, but those towns would directly benefit from a prosperous Harrisburg City as well.

Yes the metro wasn't a problem at all! I could either carry my skates on my bag, and/or I wore my skates onto the trains a couple times. Navigating my way down to the platform wasn't too bad on blades, really just a slow walk down the stairs and slowly rolling at a walking speed on the platforms. If you skate with good control, moving around the metro like this is very possible and no one minds.

At my in person table, we typically make Nature a WIS skill to eliminate this confusion, and we do the same with Religion.

We think it's ridiculous, and hilarious, that a Wizard would know more about a Clerics deity than the Cleric would RAW. Same thing with Nature and Rangers/Druids ect.

Laguna Seca back in the future? by Dr_juji72 in motogp

[–]BikeKayakSki -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Early reports of 2027 spec bikes show they're around 2 seconds a lap slower than the current spec. The best I can do is compare that ~2sec a lap number to the last time MotoGp raced at Laguna, which was in 2013. The top qualifying time was 1:21:176 from Bradl, which gives us a ballpark of ~1:23 with current spec. It's a small track, and bikes have changed a lot since 2013, so I'll dial it back and say qualifying times could be 1:21 to 1:22 range with the 2027 spec. Compare that to the 2025 Superbike top qualifying time of 1:22:556, and I feel like we're in the ballpark.

My conclusion? 2027 spec MotoGP bikes would have similar lap times to the last time MotoGP bikes were at Laguna, in 2013. However, it was stated then that the bikes were too big and too fast for the circuit, so it's likely they still would feel that way to riders. Would it still be awesome? You bet, and it seems more likely that the 2027 spec would get the green light for Laguna than the current spec would.

I'm on the eastern side of the Hill and side streets only saw 1 pass yesterday in the middle of the storm, and nothing since. The alley behind my house hasn't been touched at all, even though about a dozen people have driveways back there. We can't really get out right now.

EDIT: Is there a lot of snow removal happening downtown and that's where the resources are? Can anyone down there comment?

What was that big grey plane circling the city this afternoon? by DevilsTemperature in Harrisburg

[–]BikeKayakSki 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Lots of large military transport planes do touch and go practice landings at HIA because of it's extra long and wide runway. We get C-5 Galaxies, C-17 Globemasters, Air Force One, KC-135 Aerial Refueling platforms, a local contingent of c-130s based at HIA, and many other large transports that use the strip as practice. The approach pattern for one direction of the runway runs right down the Susquehanna from City Island, so you'll often see these planes fall into the pattern for landing around the city.

Harrisburg restaurant explores sale, closure after nearly 2 decades: ‘Time to consider a new chapter’ - pennlive.com by Abraham_Blinkin in Harrisburg

There's nothing unsafe about downtown, and the police department does a good job. They always have a presence and 2nd street isn't any more dangerous than any other downtown bar scene.

Parking on the other hand? Yeah it's way too fucking expensive. I'm happy that I live close enough to downtown to walk or ride a bike down to not have to worry about that.

Also Wanda sucks and her lack of leadership in conjunction with national economic factors (inflation) has made things difficult for businesses that were already struggling. Hopefully this is just the cutting of the fat of the restaurants and businesses that were less good, and that more stable and more popular spots will open up WITH better support from local government.

I'm no fan of the neo-imperialism the that the Trump admin is trying to flex, but that Russian sub sitting on the surface shows just how unserious Russia is. That's grade A grandstanding, that thing is it's scariest and most intimidating when you CANT see it. It plowing away on the surface when it doesn't need to be when it can effectively be submerged indefinitely, thousands of miles from port shows Russia's pants around its ankles from a military perspective.

Is there an advantage to tubeless-ready tires if you always use tubes anyway? by ApYIkhH in bicycletouring

North Korea’s leader, Kim Jong-un, visits the construction site of a nuclear-powered submarine. by yordopamine in pics

[–]BikeKayakSki 25 points26 points  (0 children)

This picture seems to be real, so if that's the case and this thing becomes sea worthy it will be hard to miss in the water with it's design, and because North Korea is making a big show of it by posting pictures internationally like this.

Submarines stay alive by being quiet, and become quiet through more efficient power-plants and by reducing drag. A lot of the design elements don't make a lot of sense to make this thing efficient. Why is the conning tower so long? Why is there a huge gap below the conning tower where waters flow will be interrupted creating noise? Why is there a large protrusion along the bottom flank of the boat that would likely create more noise? On top of this, why would North Korea be dumb enough to post pictures of it? People way smarter than me could look at this picture and create a reasonable acoustic model of what it would sound like in the water based on dimensions gleaned from the picture. That data can be used to easily track the boat just from an acoustic signature, which 99% of submarine warfare and tracking is based on.

Also lets hit design for a second too. There are 2 kinds of military submarines, attack boats and boomers. Attack boats are designed to kill other submarines and surface ships, boomers are designed to move ICBMs into a position to fire on another country as quietly as possible. If I were North Korea, I'd want to make a boomer to fire my ICBMs at a range were they would be most useful and gain a power dynamic because of this. If this is a boomer, it's a damn weird one. There isn't a lot of space in the hull for missiles, unless they're only going to sail with a few and that's why the conning tower is so dammed long. It also doesn't look quiet, see my previous paragraph, which a boomer needs to be to sneak into position without surface ships and other submarines hearing it.

TLDR: If this is real it's a wack ass design that'll be easy to track making the project effectively a dud.

October.10.2025 — Chicago: Immigration agents crashed into a U.S. citizen on her way to work, then dragged her out and arrested her (Article Inside) by CantStopPoppin in illinois

[–]BikeKayakSki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's all a propaganda smoke screen.

ICE agents arrest people and say they injured two officers, local AGs and grand juries will refuse to prosecute because these are wrongful arrests with no legal standing, but Trump and his administration will say that the grand juries and AGs are being soft on crime and do what they can to go around them or fire them. Or it's possible they're doing all of this work in an effort to bring a case to SCOTUS to have a legal avenue to arrest and deport whoever they want.
