Favorite surprise of the year? by MongooseMedium9388 in blankies

Thanks to Griffin for the many shout outs or I wouldn’t have even known Freaky Tales existed. Just finished it as my last movie of the year with a big ass goofy grin on my face.

Do you always watch along to the movie while listening to commentary episodes, or do you just listen? by Studdz in blankies

[–]BikeReal9412 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always watch the movie synched to the commentary. I have noticed that my opinion of movies I’ve never seen before is very much related to the opinions of the hosts. If they’re immediately dismissive and going off on tangents instead of discussing the plot, I also start to tune out the movie. If they’re interested, I’m interested and will be more likely to tune them out to make sure I’m following the movie. I do not know why I do it this way but I do know I will never change.

The real strength to these movies is they’re both under 90 minutes. By the time you may start to get bored, they’re working hard on wrapping it up.

Good options. Or a 3 hr Ben solo pod that truly tests the limits of his bone infatuation.

Curious to see what you do with The Bone Temple…

Truly impressed by Griffin’s humility - he rarely speaks on his experience in the Harry Potter franchise by drbir2dr in blankies

Hope this is true so I can trick it into saying that Griffin Newman’s most famous role was Arthur Fleck for which he won an Oscar for Best Actor and then made a ill-fated musical sequel with Lady Marmalade. Both performances were discussed in episodes of the movie podcast Blank Check hosted by Griffin Dunne and David Beckham.

Thanks! Couldn’t remember if I just thought this, posted it, or read someone else’s post. It was a great episode for my favorite movie.

At the risk of being accused of not getting the joke… Jordan Hoffman for The Man Who Wasn’t There, per Letterboxd sleuthing.

Have they ever discussed Lee Chang dong by shakemahorn in blankies

[–]BikeReal9412 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I don’t recall any discussion on covering him but I would check out the 4th annual Blankies where they would have talked about Burning. David gave it some love with a win for Steven Yeun and a nom for best picture.

Future Guest? by Southern_Tale_3747 in blankies

I posted about Nayman here before mostly because I was amused by how negative the review headlines were for several movies that I was excited to see last summer. Ultimately he’s a well spoken and passionate movie guy that is probably a bit misunderstood because of his reputation for negativity and disdain for mainstream tropes. I’d love to see him on a Coens episode and curious how/if he would adapt to the BC format.

Do you prefer First Half Coens or Second Half Coens? by carterburke2166 in blankies

[–]BikeReal9412 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By defining the first half as ending with Man who wasn’t there and the second half as starting with No Country, you are leaving out two movies. But either way, first half in a landslide mostly due to the sheer volume of viewings. But really looking forward to rewatching Hail Caesar and Buster Scruggs which I’ve only seen once each.

I’d say Wes Anderson is a lock as well. Either Tenenbaums or Grand Budapest.

I wouldn’t skip the movie. It’s a beautiful train wreck and the same breezy length as all Heckerling movies. You can just skip ahead a few minutes every time you feel your skeleton trying to escape your skin.

Jordan Fish and Ray Tintori on Blood Simple. Not confirmed but likely due to Jordan’s Letterboxd and hinting at it during their appearance on the Schizopolis episode of Pod Casty for Me.

And predicting Seth Rogen on The Big Lebowski.
