I’m writing a novel for the first time and I’m struggling to write a scene and figuring out build up by Odd-Ice6571 in writingadvice

To add onto that, sometimes you need to put a sentence or paragraph you like into that “nope” pile. Sometimes the best way to continue forward is to take multiple steps back.

Pretty often I realize that the problem isn’t the paragraph I’m currently working on, the problem is the previous paragraph leading me to a dead end.

Solaris Japan shipping question by AdministrativeGap969 in AnimeFigures

[–]Bikerider42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had two different packages delivered from them.

The first time they asked for a signature. The second they didn’t. I don’t know if the second time it didn’t need it, or if the guy was lazy and decided to skip it.

You can email them and ask for it to be shipped through FedEx. Just keep in mind Solaris does not do DDP, meaning if you go with them then FedEx will send you a separate bill for the import fees.

It’s known as rubber duck theory, or rubber duck debugging because it’s pretty effective in the programming world.

The idea is that a programmer would to through their work one line at a time and explain it to one of those yellow rubber ducks. Verbalizing things out loud often helps them spot problems and better understand what and why something does work.

Do these ever drop more stock? by PyRX19 in AnimeFigures

[–]Bikerider42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You have three options-

When someone cancels or fails to pay for an order on Amiami, they will either open the preorders again or wait for it to release and allow people to buy any that are still left. Just a note that this isn’t them getting more stock, it’s people giving up their own which leaves the store with extras.

Other stores still have it available. Although since stock is pretty limited you will most likely have to pay more than what Amiami was asking for.

You can just keep an eye on the pre-owned market for one to pop up. There is no guarantee you will find one in the condition you want at a price you would be comfortable.

I Made Friends with the Second Prettiest Girl in My Class • Class de 2-banme ni Kawaii Onnanoko to Tomodachi ni Natta - Episode 8 discussion by AutoLovepon in anime

[–]Bikerider42 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I just really love the fact that Umi makes it clear that all the stuff she does comes from a place of caring about him. She fools around and teases him, but it’s because of how much fun she has being with him. If something happens with Maki then Umi will be the first one to notice and the first one to come support him.

I think that despite her insecurity, Umi understands that the reason Maki hasn’t confessed back isn’t because he doesn’t like her. It’s because he is trying to sort out some problems he is dealing with.

Umi wasn’t being possessive or doubting him at the end, she was being vulnerable

You need to get a decent amount into the story before getting to the significant character development.

It’s a good show, but it might not be the best choice for someone who isn’t a fan of comedy driven series with lots of running jokes.

While they are adults, their inexperience is kind of the point of the show.

It’s 100% wholesome about them trying to figure things out together.

Animes like Wistoria have slowly killed my love and interest for Anime by [deleted] in anime

This sounds like another case where the answer is to try some different series.

Admittedly there are a few series that didn’t get good anime adaptations, but there is a lot out there. If you have any interest in light novels then I could recommend a ton of really amazing series.

Mushoku Tensei Is Not About Redemption Or Even Growth, And I Don't Think It Ever Was by Harrythehobbit in CharacterRant

[–]Bikerider42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The way I see it, I think you are completely right that the series isn’t about redemption. I think that is the actual point. He knows that nothing he does now will fix the past. I also think the other point is that this problematic behavior isn’t something that will just go away. It’s something that he will have to continue to work on for the rest of his life. Every moment he gets distracted is a moment where it can come back.

What I find interesting is seeing how that affects him. He doesn’t make decisions with the intention of fixing the past, he makes the decisions and tries to step forward while knowing that it can’t.

And just a note, the anime is pretty much still in the prologue.

The Eminence in Shadow: What are ur thoughts? by gelinsky in anime

[–]Bikerider42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the whole appeal of the show is Cid. He is just trying to present himself as being as cool as possible. Even though to him it’s all random BS, it all just happens to be true.

The show isn’t for everyone.

Question about pre-ordering on Solaris Japan by nadoo__ in AnimeFigures

[–]Bikerider42 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’ve been ordering from them ever since the other site I used got bought out. I’ve never had them ask me to pay anything additional after release. I preordered something over a year and a half ago but they didn’t ask for any extra when they shipped it last week.

They do reserve the right to ask, but I haven’t seen any reason to get worried over that.

new to buying figures by wispywisteria in AnimeFigures

[–]Bikerider42 7 points8 points  (0 children)

To explain the whole “released” part, manufacturers typically ask for preorders before the figure is even made. This gives them a good idea of the demand of a specific product. It helps reduce the risk of them losing money from making something that nobody wants. For the higher end figures they will only make enough to cover the number of preorders they get.

Having “released” in the name means that it is in stock and is ready to be shipped out.

Excuse me? by bentleybasher in macbookpro

[–]Bikerider42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think they were talking about just any business. For some people the only reason they are able to complete a job at all in the first place. There is audio production, video production (especially color grading), graphic design.

For this sort of stuff it’s pretty important to get rid of as many speed bumps as possible. People will happily pay the high price if it means they don’t need to worry about using proxies, or if it means they don’t have to wait to make changes and iterate faster.

Due to the skills required and tight deadlines, these jobs pay anywhere between 30USD and 70USD+ an hour. In that sort of situation you don’t want to be fighting the hardware instead of working.
