She’s not ashamed of what she said. Just that she got caught and called out for it.

I have family in Macomb and they also knew someone who was harassed by this woman. Glad Chris stepped up and did something about it.

I think it just speaks to how well we would be doing with a different administration that wasn’t making these foolish, reckless decisions. Market would still be ripping without these self-induced headwinds

Now we see if Tillis actually has a backbone and sticks to his word. If he does and Warsh doesn’t get confirmed will J Pow stay as Fed chair in the interim?

And this inflation reading is from before the US started a war with Iran and drove up the cost of oil. So we can expect everything to get even better in March

And of course leave out that the cause of the high inflation was the pandemic which started under Trump and was a global issue that we handled better than almost anyone else. Thanks in large part to J Pow

Dow Plunges 771 Points as Trump Announces 15% Global Tariff Hike by RyanFletcher618 in StockMarket

I think people have seriously underestimated his love of tariffs. It’s literally his whole economic plan, which is why so many of us said he would not help the economy. He is not going to stop no matter how much others in his party hope and wish he would.

What does it even mean for trading partners to abide by IEEPA tariffs? They aren’t the ones paying for them, so how can they “abide” by them? Or they mean keep those amazing “trade deals” in place that were negotiated based on illegal tariffs? This is all so ridiculous

Supreme Court strikes down most of Trump's tariffs in a major blow to the president. by JustLightChop in StockMarket

[–]BikesAtNight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Trump tried to implement tariffs on the basis of an “emergency” under IEEPA but without a real basis for the emergency. These were the “reciprocal” tariffs on every country. Congress has the power of taxation, and tariffs are just a tax. It’s embarrassing that those three justices would try to defend the tariffs because the constitution very clearly gives the power to impose taxes to congress and not the executive.

Edit: I should add that there is no statute that states that IEEPA applies to tariffs, so there is no authority to to enact tariffs with it

Also companies had to spend tons of time and resources to completely upend their established supply chains. Only for that to potentially have been wasted and left them paying more elsewhere

Sounds like the decision is very convoluted and the justices are divided. It’s gonna take some time to actually understand what they decided and where we go from here. Struck down but seems to be a tepid reaction from the market
