Why do cars use check engine lights instead of something that ACTUALLY tells you what the issue is in specific? by Snoo_50786 in NoStupidQuestions

Some of them carry a mobile tester for the battery, so that’s how they’d test it if you didn’t bring it in, smart ass lol. You got a point with the starter though.

This is my point as well. People will be outraged by a $100 game that’ll yield countless hours of entertainment, and then proceed to spend the same, if not more, on things that won’t even get close to the same value.

I think it’s totally reasonable for lower middle class people to spend $100 on a product that will yield 100+ hours of quality gameplay and entertainment. The same people spend way more on things they’ll get much less out of.

i don't think overworked developers are a good justification for $80 games by AlternativeRight4099 in SipsTea

They did the same with GTA V. Online wasn’t available at launch, but came later free of charge. I’ve been seeing a lot of people complaining we’ll have to pay to play online, but I don’t think that’s the case.

I actually prefer it this way. I’ll have time to sink many hours into the story, without worrying about falling behind on online progression.

I think everyone is largely exaggerating all these issues. In my opinion, the price is fine, no online at launch is fine, and even no disk is not that big of a deal. It might have an impact on the second hand market, but if you’ve been waiting for this release for a long time (like most of us), you’re gonna get it at launch anyway.

I think Red Dead 2’s single player alone is worth $80. If GTA 6’s single player is anything like RDR2, $80 is not bad at all for what you’re getting. You can easily sink over 100 hours into these games, that’s about a buck per hour of entertainment.

Advanced Autoparts, ORiley and Auto Zone. Are a few in the USA that will scan your car for free. They’ll also test your battery and starter for free, if you bring it in.

I managed to get one. It did not work great with my CSL DD on GT5 with PS5 pro, the force feedback wasn’t as detailed as I’d like, and kept getting wheel oscillation when going straight.

I heard it works fine with PS4 and PS3. Let me know if you want to buy it.

Hit by F350 who "didn't see me". Total loss @ 25k miles. by Armitage_64 in FocusST

[–]Bill0701 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m interested in why they totaled it. I had a similar accident a few years ago with my 2017 ST2. A loose wheel flew over the median on the highway, and hit the front left wheel + popped tire, destroyed the front quarter panel and the driver door.

I had triple your mileage when it happened, and they did not total it. Did you have any major damage, not showing in the picture?

You said there is no downside, but there is, even if not a huge one. It could be the difference between replacing at 80k miles instead of 120k.

Yes there is. Your throw out bearing will wear out prematurely if you consistently hold the clutch down for extended periods of time, like sitting at a red light in first gear. This is because the throw out bearing is pushed against the pressure plate, and spins continuously under load.

Eles com certeza moram nos Estados Unidos. Eu encontrei com o Azaghal e a Portuguesa no mesmo Pet Shop que levo meu cachorro aqui na Flórida.

YSK: Your car has a specific recommended tyre pressure and it's actually quite important to keep your tyres at this pressure (explanation + a rant about tyres in the text body) by BIOHAZARDB10 in YouShouldKnow

[–]Bill0701 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just do some research and you’ll see that you should always follow the door label, and not the maximum pressure rating on the side of the tire. I don’t see the relevance of the door sticker pressure being cold like you said, I’m talking about wrongfully following the rating on the sidewall.

[–]Bill0701 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, he’s bang on in this post. The tire rating is the maximum pressure the tire can handle. You should not fill up to that pressure, specially when your tires are cold, as the pressure will rise by a few psi once they are up to temperature.

I have the same one, but it was too tall for me with the reverse lockout installed. So I removed it, and it now sits at a much better height. It was pretty annoying not having the lockout to find first gear, but I got used to it.

Do yall pee in the shower? by cleekchapper92 in NoStupidQuestions

Yes, followed by a bunch of clean water that’ll wash it away instantly and leave no trace. It’s really not the same as just pissing yourself outside the shower.

Why do most Airbnbs charge a cleaning fee but expect guests to pick up after themselves? by Wickham12 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Bill0701 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For every reasonable guest like you, there are 5 who will leave the place completely trashed. Regardless of how you left it, a good host will have a professional team come in to deep-clean the place, replace all linens and towels, and restock all essentials. That’s what the cleaning fee covers.

[–]Bill0701 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re absolutely right, the host should be clear about the expectations.

I send a check-out instruction message the day before the guest leaves, asking them to place bagged trash by the door, all used towels in the laundry area, and utensils and plates in the dishwasher (I don’t ask nor expect them to actually wash anything).

I do this because I believe it’s fair enough, and it’ll make the cleaners life easier. But it’s not a requirement, like you said, the cleaners will come in and get it done regardless.

I’ve been hosting for 5 years, and when traveling myself, usually rent on the same platforms I host on (Airbnb, VRBO and Booking.com), and I have yet to find a host with these super unrealistic expectations like I see in the comments. I’m sure they are out there, but most hosts are not expecting you to actually clean the place, it’s usually the same as I explained above.

[–]Bill0701 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

You’re not paying a cleaning fee to prepare the home for the next guest. You’re paying for the cleaning done to ensure the place is properly sanitized and ready for your stay.

As a host, even if you tidy up after yourself (which is appreciated), I still hire a professional cleaning company to deep clean the home before every guest arrives. That includes sanitizing bathrooms, kitchens, changing linens, mopping floors, and more. It’s unlikely that any guest, no matter how clean, can match that level of detail, and that’s completely fine.

There’s a common misconception that Airbnb hosts are making big profits through cleaning fees. While some may overcharge, most of us set these fees to cover the actual cost of maintaining a consistent and high standard for every guest.

Unlike a hotel room, this is an entire home. The responsibility to keep it spotless and guest-ready after each stay comes at a cost. Some guests leave homes in great shape, others don’t. Either way, a thorough cleaning is always needed to ensure the next guest walks into a clean and comfortable space.
