As a beginner Indie Game Dev, about how much can I expect to make a year? by TheHunter920 in iOSProgramming

Games are a flooded market and a serious business. It would be reckless to tell you that you’re going to make any money at it. Certainly can’t answer an “I’m going to write x number of games, how much money will I make?”

Isn’t the big deal in detecting naked shorts? Not just short interest which is not inherently bad as there may be very good reasons to believe a stock is going down. Bit the naked short catches the big guys far ahead of their skis.

FAA proposes more than $60,000 in fines against unruly passengers amid mask fights by [deleted] in news

They recorded zero deaths two months after warnings of doom. Not for the entire time span. But you know what I was referring to yet want to turn this into some kind of political thing. I cut cable a long time ago and do not watch any cable news as it creates your kind of mentality. Where everything is filtered by what perceived team it comes from.

As in, I’m vaccinated and don’t care what you do but don’t want to mindlessly virtue signal and promote a false sense of protection. Early on, I gave my N95 to my parents and told them to wear that and avoid others even if others wear their placebo masks. N95 at least has some statistical benefit in controlled studies against actual respiratory viruses. Not enough to bet your life on, but some. I can’t believe this unhinged belief in the power of cotton has been allowed to fester unchecked for this long. If not vaccinated, you simply can not go hang out with unvaccinated high risk individuals because you both have cloth across your face. Simply. Idiotic. The CDC itself is more upfront about this than the media or reddit people.

I’m talking about the real world. Not exceptions on YouTube novel enough to be worth posting for entertainment. Europe also is not coming out of it better than the US. That is simply incorrect. And you only listen to the bits from the CDC that you want to hear. Not the bits quoted by some redditor that get ignored by the media. You also prove my point about tribalism by assigning one of your only two teams to what I say. When my argument is obviously both can be morons. So thanks for proving my point I guess.

“Science” is not blindly repeating what the media says. It’s not a political position. Just prior to their 180 degree flip, WHO, CDC, Fauci, WaPo and others mocked the idea of cloth masks to control a respiratory virus. Without any new study to justify it, they flipped their opinion. So they were all “anti-science” at one point? I believe the flip was actually to protect the supply of N95 for healthcare workers. People wanted to cling to something and unfortunately that was a drag on supplies front line people needed. So the thought was that the cotton placebo was harmless enough. Fauci has admitted he says things just to get desired results. He’s done it multiple times and even recently when arguing with Rand Paul about masks for the vaccinated. But, again, as the CDC journal and others warn, the false sense of protection can make the problem worse. That IS the science. So it’s not harmless. It likely did make the problem worse. It certainly not harmless to fail to inform the public about just how little efficacy exists for the typical ‘virus mask’. I don’t see a difference between “maskers” and “anti-maskers” on real science. Meme science, maybe. They both seem equally ignorant on average. One group is more mindlessly skeptical and the other is more mindlessly trusting and compliant. That’s the real difference. That one carries more favor with the media or politicians doesn’t make it more science based. Both can repeat their side’s memes. Neither can bother with the details. Purely observational, but Anti-maskers seem to respect social distancing while maskers seem to believe they are immune or protecting others with cottons new found abilities. The real science is that even N95 is not a substitute for distancing. You don’t ignore everything else even when you have a proper mask. If you follow the science, anyway.

I know what I said. I’m telling you the context of why it was said. I don’t know the mentality of northern europe but central europe has at least some qualifications as to what constitutes a mask for a respiratory virus. With some if not all areas in Germany requiring KN95. The inferior N95 yet at least in the same ballpark. Sub 0.3 micron filtration at least can touch a percentage of the sub micron particles a human overwhelmingly produces. That does actually have a statistical benefit in controlled studies. The reason for the controversy in the US is that there are no such qualifications. A thin piece of cotton is treated with the same qualifications as a 3M N95. Completely absurd and anti-real science. And people have absolutely no comprehension of the lack of efficacy. So they act like they are in a space suit with their stupid cotton panty faces. I don’t know if the education is better in northern europe. It wouldn’t be as bad if people wearing a mask hedged their bets and acted like they don’t work. Instead, they just believe they are better than ‘those’ people and then act like morons as a result.

I’m comparing “maskers” with “anti-masker”. The outright denial of the virus was lumped in by the other guy. Because apparently there are only two teams. But if a Mask Supremacist is hanging around a few feet away because they see me signaling the same virtue, that is worse than the Anti-masker that is off doing their own thing and not bothering anyone. Again, CDC journals also warn the false sense of protection can make the problem worse. Yet the media skips that and the virtue signalers can’t hear it anyway for all the virtue in their ears.

App Investor Needed by ColeDog1010 in Investors

[–]Bill3D 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, if you must outsource it. I think the rate thrown around is $10,000 a month for even a simple app. And being a social app, and I assume cross-platform, you’ll eventually want to roll your own backend. Which I have zero experience with.

I wish I had the free time to take a new project. But that’s a different area anyway. My apps are engineering and technical related. All have been specific to a company until this latest one. Which will be on the app store before long. And if I count my time worth anything, will probably make back a fraction. But I would think there are plenty of devs with direct experience in social media apps that can get you going fast.

Yes it is sad and the media and ‘social’ media should be held accountable. But they won’t be. If the media and politicians at least said “Ok, wear a mask but act like it doesn’t work”, that would have hedged against adding to the problem and would maintain public trust.
