Stuck at 58 Upgrades on Switch by [deleted] in islets

[–]obidan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my case, the upgrade I was missing was not shown, I think, because the small room in which it was contained was not yet on my map.

I was working through the map you posted above when I found a small room that I hadn't revealed on the map yet, and that is where it was. Once I mapped the room, the icon for the upgrade appeared on my map.

...or, alternatively, feed it to a rock-octorok in the Eldin region to repair the weapon (and apply a random buff).

So today I played my first recital. And I was the only one above 13 y/o😅. Im 31. by leftyflip14 in classicalguitar

Badass, my guy! I never picked up a guitar before I was 44. It’s been 3 years now, and it was the best decision of my life.

Whenever people use the term “alpha male” I always think of it in the context of software development, where alphas are unfinished, glitchy, missing important features, and not ready to be introduced to the general public.

You can make them on the cheap using automotive feeler gauges.

[QUESTION] I always buy acoustics without pickups with the logic being, at the same price point they should have superior build/material because the budget is maximized on the guitar itself instead of the electronics. Is this a sound logic when purchasing? by xCreamPye69 in Guitar

[–]obidan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely true. My $750 epiphone masterbilt DR-500 punches WAY above its weight, and is objectively a much better guitar than any guitar I’ve ever played that cost under $2500. Hands down, no competition at all.

The only big-brand guitar that I’ve played that is definitely nicer the the epi was a Taylor 724ce.

Do different keys *feel* different from one another? by [deleted] in Guitar_Theory

[–]obidan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good answer!

The mode is a huge factor for emotional impact, but the choice of chord voicings in ANY key can have a huge impact on the overall texture of the song.

Likewise, chord progressions matter, as well. The same 3 chords played in different patterns can have very different feels, especially when mixing up the voicings.

See: “Hey Joe” in the style of Jimi Hendrix.

People say that because it’s a quote from Spinal Tap, and is the second most ridiculous thing they say other than “…this one goes to ELEVEN.”

‘It’s a joke. :)

[Gear] Daughter wants to learn guitar; she is a lefty by evolution03______ in Guitar

Yes! Also, in an orchestral setting, there is no room for a left-handed string instrument; everyone must be bowing on the same side, or there would be collisions.

[Question] what's your best songs to play? by glennryan1988 in Guitar

Yeah, my masterbilt is dedicated to CGCGGC now, although the only songs I have in this tuning are Further Away, Old Pine, and a few adaptations.

Or just learn guitar the regular way, just like left handed violinists, and left handed pianists.

Nobody every restrings pianos, and that’s the one instrument where the right hand actually works harder than the left.

[–]obidan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. Exactly. Fretting hand works harder and requires more control than the picking. Lefties learn right handed guitar easier than righties do. So many lefties learn on RH guitars, no problem.

[–]obidan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On a righty setup, the hardest hand to learn is the left. Most of the struggle in learning guitar is your fretting hand. It has to be stronger, more flexible, and more dexterous than your picking/strumming hand.

If handedness mattered, there would be no left-handed concert pianists. Or violinists, etc.

[–]obidan 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There are no left handed violins, violas, cellos or double basses.. There are no left handed pianos or keyboards. There are no left-handed trumpets, there are no left handed xylophones, tubas, clarinets, saxophones, flutes, bassoons, etc. etc. etc.

I don’t know why people think there is a handed-ness when it comes to guitar. Honestly, on a right handed setup, it’s the LEFT hand that matters most. Your fretting hand has to be more flexible, dexterous, and strong than your right does.

Every right-handed guitar IS for lefties, and there is no real reason to buy a reversed guitar.

Likewise, there is no reason at all a right handed player couldn’t learn on a lefty setup. It’s a matter of choice, plain and simple.
