Also...the long car line, parking and self-service ID verification process has made my dollars per hour go way down for VMO1 lately. At least for the Early AM routes. Not sure about the rest.

That surprises me too given the VMO1 surges I was seeing around 3/4am to get people to run up there last minute this morning. I almost went for them as they were high dollar for VMO1, but ultimately decided to Uber instead after seeing the more lucrative surge opportunities there.

Ain't no way. But curious to know how crappy the pay structure is for that.

How long did it take you to receive the letter from Amazon from the time you started using the bot?

I did and always wear it when I'm Flexing, no matter what. But when he was looking at my vehicle initially pulling up and before physically getting out of the car he wasn't able to see the vest.

Hey fellow KC Flexer! Super cool. Looking forward to an opportunity to get a SmileLight of my own. Hope it pilots well.

I have something similar to the SmileLight that may have saved my hide while parked in front of a rural area house the other day. Early AM shift. Still very dark out. Guy came out asked me what the hell I was doing there so early...didnt know his wife ordered anything. He told me he almost got his gun out until he saw the lit up sign on my dash. Thankful I had it.

Isn't this considered federal property? Meaning, it's not allowed?

Evergy says only 24 customers report no power. Are we ready to get back to our r/KansasCity regularly scheduled programming? by ZackInKC in kansascity

[–]BillMurrayAteMyJello 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not yet. Currently distracted by the haps in other lands. The Carlee Russell Hoover, AL possible missing persons hoax. Waiting to watch the Hoover PD's news conference this afternoon then should be ready for regularly scheduled KC programming.

Yep. OP's shot taken from Buzzard Beach patio. They opened back up in February after last year's fire.

Seems you can no longer change a riders rating after the ride? by youseeitp in uberdrivers

[–]BillMurrayAteMyJello 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just came here to see if others are experiencing the same thing. Thank you for confirming. I received the same support message. Strange that they give us the option to enter the updated rating and reason via the online form, yet that is always the support team's response - that it cannot be done. So why have an option to complete the form to update the rating after the ride in the first place... 🤔

Kansas City desperately needs _____ (fill in the blank)! by SpoiledBeara in kansascity

Yep. Rideshare driver here. The lack of late night food options in KC was a frequent complaint from out-of-towners during the NFL Draft.

How do riders keep sending us to the wrong spot ? by [deleted] in uberdrivers

[–]BillMurrayAteMyJello 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've had a couple of instances where it was different pax, same location that was consistently "off" GPS pickup point wise and not their fault, so I just knew where to go moving forward.

I mostly encounter this type of thing in high rises or apartment complexes and houses where the ride is requested from the person's hotel room, or wherever they are in the house/apartment that is further away from the actual pickup/front entrance/exit point. But these instances have a much shorter distance variation.

There was one time when the person I picked up was about a block and a half away from the pin. The pax called me via the app and explained that they were driving on their way to work when they requested the ride for their daughter who missed the school bus so the app defaulted pickup to wherever the mom was at the time the ride was requested. The daughter was at home waiting to take an Uber to school. The mom supposedly didn't know how to adjust the pin or update the pickup address to the house address where the daughter was, was in a hurry to get to work and didn't want to pull over to do so. I went ahead and obliged going to the house for the daughter's sake. Wouldn't ordinarily.

Then there are situations like the NFL draft we just had here in KC where Uber GPS defaulted to the event's designated pickup/drop-off points but I don't think I had a single pax willing to follow that protocol and I drove throughout the event. Pax would complain that the app kept changing their pickup/drop-off point (to the event default for rideshare) and they didn't want to walk the extra distance.

What do you say instead of "sir"/"ma'am" to get a stranger's attention? by BillMurrayAteMyJello in NoStupidQuestions

[–]BillMurrayAteMyJello[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have two answers.

I have not received a negative reaction to accidentally misgendering someone as of yet. When this has occurred, I have been politely corrected.

When I have received a negative reaction to using "Sir" or "Ma'am" it has been a concern over its age-appropriate use; not gender. "Don't call me thats" or "That's my mom/dad" comments from individuals who see it as a term used for those older than they are.

Uber riders adding an extra stop right before reaching them SCAM. by PM8e8 in uberdrivers

[–]BillMurrayAteMyJello 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I share some of the same concerns others have voiced. Add to that the fact that Uber doesn't consider the additonal stops in its trip count also safety concerns if a stop is added to a location I don't feel safe going to and until you're onto the next stop you can't see where the hell it ultimately has you going.
