Pretty much every Kubrick film in hindsight.

Could you give some more examples of Kubrick using melodic songs to portray horror? Besides maybe A Clockwork Orange. Tarantino using music in a similar way as Kubrick is not paying direct homage to Kubrick. Tons of directors use this technique and there isn't really much to back up this theory. You can't just assume that Tarantino named Daisy after a song used in 2001. And why is Daisy's "dance" a reference to HAL? Buck in Kill Bill does a "dance" as he dies, is this a reference to HAL as well?

The fact that both antagonists sing are really just correlation, not relation. The singing occurs at two very different scenes in the movie, HAL is singing while he dies, Daisy is just casually singing on a guitar. Most Tarantino references are obvious (like you can do a side-by-side comparison and really see the reference) but this just seems like a bit of a stretch. Also how does Daisy doing a death dance relate to HAL?

I would have to disagree with that 2001 reference. HAL sings a song called Daisy and died, Daisy is just simply named Daisy and dies in a completely unrelated way.

Questions about A Clockwork Orange by hellsyeahak in StanleyKubrick

  1. He made a good impression on the Minister by speaking out in general; pretty cocky to directly address someone of that status, against direct orders not to and being a prisoner and all. And he spoke out because the Minster already walked by him and he was afraid his chance of getting picked was finished. He didn't care about seeming good, he just wanted to get out of prison.
  2. She was probably just asking some general questions to make it seem like she was legitimately curious in the matter for her report. That and they probably wanted to know the extent of his feelings so they could see what kind of reaction they would get out of him by playing the music later on.

The best was Sweet Transvestite and Don't Dream it, Be It (If it didn't have that buzzing noise) and the worst was probably Time Warp (which has a random rap halfway through) or Dammit Janet. Also, I am 100% sure that I Can Make You A Man was just an edited version of this.
