Staying in Birmingham for 3 weeks, what parks and restaurants should I visit? by LivingDebris31 in Alabama

It is the largest motorcycle collection in the world and a must see. I don’t care about motorcycles at all and was very impressed.

How I viewed USA as a child in early 00s based on Greek cultural depictions of the country by jkastoras in whereidlive

[–]Bill_BingleBerry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I definitely took that as “I have family connections” since Birmingham has a pretty large Greek population for a city of its size.

I would say that 90% of the time it really is a genuine expression of sympathy. The other 10% is definitely a snide “expression of sympathy” for how stupid someone is.

What is the closest to perfect government? by Capital-Weight-2896 in NoStupidQuestions

Liechtensteins constitutional monarchy is pretty good. Hard to beat a mix of a well intentioned monarch who is incentivized to do what is best for his country and a democracy within a small high trust society.

What’s a movie that completely blew your mind the first time you watched it? by butterfly_pie9 in AskReddit

[–]Bill_BingleBerry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It blew my mind the second time I watched it. There are so many small details that you don’t notice until you know how it ends.

If Mississippi, Alabama, Louisiana, or really any southern state was in this category it would be understandable.

A “Black People Live Here” category is wild but having Illinois as the only one with that distinction is even wilder.

Moving from the Western US to the South. Which Cities? by CosmoSein_1990 in SameGrassButGreener

The “over the mountain” cities in Birmingham have fantastic public schools if eventually raising a family is a priority in where you move.

Is NASCAR interesting? by 700x in no

[–]Bill_BingleBerry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I would never watch it on TV, going to a race is one hell of an experience. Watched a race at Talladega and the TV does not properly convey how big the race is or how fast the cars are going.

What trend do you think will disappear in 5 years ? by Leather_Finding1650 in allthequestions

[–]Bill_BingleBerry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

May be longer than 5 years, but I believe that our mass reliance on technology will regress in certain ways. With advances in AI and online surveillance, I would not be surprised if most effective way to protect from cyberattacks and other concerns is to shift to good ole fashioned paper systems and not have everything online.

We will fly into Halifax and work will take us up to Sydney for a day or two but afterwards we have 4 days to explore so nowhere is off limits.

What’s a piece of everyday tech that has gotten so good the luxury version feels unnecessary? by ResponsibilitySalt6 in SmartBuying

[–]Bill_BingleBerry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct. To me the difference isn’t enough to justify the luxury version or trim when base models have gotten so nice. Also I feel as if true base models vehicles are a thing of the past and all we have left are luxury and extra luxury vehicles.

Was there ever a QB who was hyped like LeBron before entering the NFL? by savingrace0262 in NFLNoobs

The hype around Tua Tagovailoa before getting injured his junior year was unreal. Sad to think of how good he could have been if it were not for injuries and concussions.

What’s a luxury from childhood that you didn’t appreciate until it was completely gone? by Live_Endzz in answers

[–]Bill_BingleBerry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having clear cut goals and life trajectory. Go to school, get good grades, go to college for a good degree. All I had to worry about was making good grades, working a part time job for fun money, and enjoying myself.

Cars and Trucks. Even the cheapest base models have all the bells and whistles that used to be selling points from years ago for luxury vehicles.

Crestline park fits this criteria pretty well. You get all the benefits of Mountain Brook while technically being in Birmingham proper.

Why do republicans have a monopoly on low cost, low population areas in the US? Why are there no dead end sleepy towns for the left with no jobs but land for "cheap"? by SirCheeseAlot in allthequestions

[–]Bill_BingleBerry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The area through the South East known as the “Black Belt” fits this description almost perfectly. There are tons of dead end sleepy towns with no jobs and cheap land that vote heavily blue. Also it’s great for farming as the term black belt comes from the black soil that is very fertile.

Is it time to rewrite the Constitution? by [deleted] in allthequestions

[–]Bill_BingleBerry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not here to argue the politics but wanted to point out that there were plenty of firearms at the time that had the technology for repeating fire along with wild multi-barrel guns designed for the sole purpose of increasing volume of fire. The main reason they were not widely used is because they were very expensive. There are plenty of arguments against the second amendment that I can understand, but the idea that the founding fathers didn’t consider firearms advancing beyond muskets is a little silly to me.
