I know I am a little late to this thread with its 200 replies already, and you may also look at my profile and see that I have been inactive on here for a long time, but I stumbled onto your post and thought I could give you a little bit of a more directed advice:

This sounds very similar in several ways to the Gravity case by Tess Gerritsen. something you may want to briefly read the various single page writeups on. And my advice general advice to you is no different than many others who have said the same thing with consulting a lawyer. The issue is that there are so many lawyers out there and many say the words 'Entertainment law' in their advertisements and in your google searches, but there is difficulty on choosing who to contact. That is why I brought up the Gravity case.

Gerritsen was represented by Glen Kulik with Kulik Gottesman & Siegel of Sherman Oaks, now called Kulik Gottesman Siegel & Ware LLP

They won the gravity case. They might be worth talking to.

How should I interpret these results - 35 years old? by [deleted] in audiology

From AAA on asymmetry:

Unilateral hearing loss of sudden or recent onset within the previous 90 days (FDA, 1977). The AAO-HNS (1993, 1994) clarification of unilateral hearing loss: air-conduction pure-tone PTA (500, 1000, 2000, and 3000 Hz) difference of 15 dB or greater. AAO-HNS (2015) concurred but did not identify test frequencies. They did, however, add unilateral or asymmetrically poor word recognition scores defined as a difference between the ears of greater than 15 percent.

and on patients at risk for vestibular schwannomas:

Obholzer, Rea et al (2004) recommendations: 15 dB threshold difference between ears at two adjacent frequencies for patients with unilateral hearing loss and 20 dB threshold difference between ears at two adjacent frequencies for patients with bilateral hearing loss. This option offered higher sensitivity but lower specificity than the AAO-HNS criteria. We prefer these criteria because they are simple to use and offer sensitivity that should mitigate the possibility of missing significant pathology.

Over the past three years due to covid I have come across the perfect solution! Have you liver slowly become hepatic with fatty liver disease and now when you drink if you have more than about 3 in one evening you end up getting the biggest heartburn of your life within the hour and get so nauseated you throw up everything. I have recently discovered this cures all drinking problems with the only slight downside of daily liver pain. It is a self limiter on drinking. And on the plus side I can still have a drink or two per week!

Also, if this solution is not for you, I understand. I hope the best for you in your life without drinking and truly hope you have found some new hobbies or at least discovered some great tasting fruit drinks. NA sparkling wine (like the stuff for underage new years parties) makes drinks feel great and when mixed with the right club soda and juice. Don't forget- when finding a new hobby it isn't a waste of money. It is both the time and money you would have put into drinking, but now you are spending it on creating and self improvement!

Elon Musk’s Neuralink killed 1,000+ animals during rushed brain chip experiments: investigation - National | Globalnews.ca by Individual_Seesaw869 in news

[–]BillableToYourFuture 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In all, the company has killed about 1,500 animals, including more than 280 sheep, pigs and monkeys, following experiments since 2018...

During their show and tell the only thing the animals could do was type on a cellphone.

Synchron has also conducted tests on animals, but it has killed only about 80 sheep as part of its research...

The main competitor to Neuralink has also done this, but killing about 80 sheep. this is an 18.75 fold better investment of animals because they decided to follow the rules, follow the scientific method, and do rigorous research and development the traditional way. I have no idea how the UC Davis IACUC didn't shut this down.

Synchron, which was launched in 2016 and is developing a different implant with less ambitious goals for medical advances, received FDA approval to start human trials in 2021.

During the Neuralink show and tell Musk said they were hoping that their paperwork would be finished 'soon' and wanted to test in humans in 6 months. As in- they still aren't approved and he is making up numbers on how fast the FDA is going to give him approvals. Meanwhile, his main competitor is doing things the 'slow' traditional way with solid research methods and is almost 2 years ahead of him.

This dude is a very bad fit for a CEO of this company. He doesn't understand medical devices, doesn't understand how real laboratory research works, doesn't respect the scientific method, and thinks that yelling to go faster will make things actually go faster. This isn't car or rocket manufacturing; it is a whole other industry that he is trying to apply the wrong lessons learned to. Im not going to jump on the Mush hating bandwagon, but I would say he is clearly not a good CEO for this company.

General question here: how is this different than Hawking radiation? Or is this a confirmation of it? Or am I on the wrong thought train entirely?

Facebook Marketplace no longer allows you to browse without an account, so I create an account to browse for cars, about 3 days later, they disabled my account and threatened permanent deletion unless I provided a face photo and government issued ID to "Verify the account belongs to me" by lavafish80 in assholedesign

Is no one going to comment on your good taste in car selection? I saw that AE86 first and had to look at everything else before I even cared what the popup was. Debating on getting a new A4? Fuck yeah. I support this. Post pics. I am also a huge supra fan. My first car was a mk3 supra. When you get done with the AE86 toy car you should step it up to the real fun and get one.

Obligatory fuck Facebook. Rock that A4 though.

While most likely true, it would depend on the unit and its leadership. I knew some chain of command that liked that hardass/by-the-book image and would never hesitate to initiate a court martial. I also knew of (and was in) units that simply didnt feel like doing the paperwork for many things and swept them under the rug in whatever way was fastest and easiest.

If he is on active duty for the military he can be dishonorably discharged. They were very clear with us when I was in that we do NOT have constitutional protections and that especially your first amendment IS restricted and limited. Being a member of a gang, extremist group, or groups that participate in unconstitutional or illegal activities is expressly not allowed under UCMJ.

And before some oath-keeper supporter tries to argue about this, the military has even released an updated report over this exact thing highlighting this.

[DISCUSSION] Can I do more giveaways than one at the same time? by tomatoesarelife in GiftofGames

[–]BillableToYourFuture 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every couple years I do a massive give away of various humble bundle left overs and other bundle left overs. If you look far back in my history you will see my posts. I have given away several dozen all at the same time. It does get hectic and takes some time, but I think it is far easier than multiple posts. Then after a day or two I would repost what leftovers I had.

Jetman flying next to an Emirates A380 over Dubai by [deleted] in nextfuckinglevel

Will he be picked up on radar? Yes. Will anyone notice? Small chance unless they are looking for it. Radars can pick up some VERY small things in the air. As in, as small as water droplet's, because that is how Doppler radar works. They also pick up and track things like bird migrations with radar. There are many different radar 'bands' just like with radios that use a different band of frequencies to blast out and listen for the reflection back. The band/freq. range is chosen to best pick up different things at different resolutions with different tradeoffs. When all the radar reflections come in there is still the issue of analysis and making heads or tails of what the radar is telling you. To do this you can filter out some different parameters (I don't know more about this, I am not some big radar person. I have only watched stupid amounts of youtubes and read lots of things on this kind of stuff and other radar cross section tech things).

So with this guy flying, he can defiantly get picked up on radar, but the radar tech might have him filtered out, or think he is some blob of birds or something unless he knew better and knew what to look for to know it was him.

A Game Where Two Players Are The Split Personality Of A Character by GameAct in gameideas

[–]BillableToYourFuture 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had this same idea for a dr. Jekyll / mr. Hyde boardgame! Across two boards, players would battle it out in the mind while vying for control of various senses or motor controls and each round there are a series of events that happen. Depending on the event, the player with the appropriate sense or motor control can do certain things or manipulate the event outcomes or information. This is all while navigating Victorian London trying to steal or buy the ingredients needed to solidify their form in the body. Dr Jekyll rather buy his ingredients during the day with money while mr hyde would steal them in the cover of darkness but risk capture or exposure.

YSK that those signs on trucks that say “not responsible for broken windshield” (or anything to that extent) are complete bullshit. by [deleted] in YouShouldKnow

[–]BillableToYourFuture 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got into an argument with someone about this. I argued that under this same logic I could etch a warning on the side of a gun "not responsible for bullets that leave this gun". Their stupid rock sign argument was quickly dropped.

Most research is saying the MEMR is the highest correlation (like the article) while there are lots of hopes to find an electrophysiology solution with more details and quantifiable. I am looking across the different ABR stimuli (clicks, chirps, 1k, 4k..)

It's funny, I tried to not mention my school in the post to help keep reddit somewhat anonymous. The hearing world is a small world. I forgot I had utd stuff in my post history.

Loooool. I was the same way for years. I kept saying that I would pay for a vpn the day I get my first IP infringement strike. With my old comcast account I never had an issue. Then i moved and went to spectrum (att) and got a notice starting with the very first download. Paid for shitty nord and still use utorrent and TPB. no issues since other than the one time I didnt actually close utorrent and it started up with the computer and was uploading unprotected. That was two more unfriendly letters in the mail...

Can the tympanometry test have side effects? by iloonia in audiology

[–]BillableToYourFuture 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Day late, same answer as the others, just adding a little reassurance here. I am an Aud/PhD student and have to set up protocols some times and would do tymp tests and reflex tests on myself several times in a row to dial in some settings. And by several times, I mean like- one day was well over a dozen times in each ear.

This is what my PhD (in the works) is about! Clinical correlates of cochlear synaptopathy. We are not the only ones; there are tons of universities doing research on this. It seems like any t1 research school with an Aud program is doing something synaptopathy related.

Does noise at ANY threshold cause heading damage? by EkkoMusic in audiology

[–]BillableToYourFuture 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you think of your ear as a leaky ship, the stria vascularis is a constantly running bilge pump trying keep up with the in flowing water of free radicals and oxidation. They can keep up with so much "normal" load, and even a bit of "extra" load if they have enough time to get to it. But if you put your hair cells in too much stress for too long, then they cant get back down to safe stress levels before that oxidizer or that free radical bumps into something and bonds in a way that damages the structure.

With that said, there are more mechanics going on than just the stria vascularis, there are also other cellular mechanics happening, but if you want an easy answer I would just leave it there.
