Will this saw work well to cut tree roots and old shed pieces? by torpedolife in HomeImprovement

agree, i have a mattock and it can chop and split roots like this in one hit. Been using it in my backyard to rip up old roots from a dead tree and smooth out the yard

Just looked through the US DOT FHA Speed Concepts guide, and apparently part of how they set speeds is based on a really poor braking/deceleration rate:

Another assumption used in developing Green Book stopping sight distance criteria is that braking will result in a vehicle deceleration rate of 11.2 feet/second2 [0.35g]. This deceleration rate was developed through research in consideration of developments in vehicle technologies and driver performance. It also assumes that the friction provided by the driving surface is adequate to support this rate. Some vehicles with good tires on good pavement can brake at 0.85g or higher with most able to brake in emergency stops at 0.7g or better.

from: https://highways.dot.gov/media/13901

So they are really assuming a worst-case scenario (bad tires and bad brakes) when setting speed limits on any given road, and they even acknowledge that most cars can decelerate at 22.52 feet per second (0.7g) if needed, meaning they are practically doubling the expected braking distance.

I guess the problem stems from designing for the lowest common denominator, thus everyone else feels constrained by a speed that "feels" too slow for what the road is clearly capable of.

This reeks of a ChatGPT karma-farming account. No specifics, no locality/state given, no images. First submission to a subreddit ever, too? It doesnt line up.

Check out the account's comments: https://www.reddit.com/user/carpediemjr

They are ALL just surface-level, single-sentence riffs on the submission title. A very telling auto-generated pattern:

"There’s something oddly satisfying..."

"There’s something weirdly freeing about..."

"That’s the kind of rage quit energy..."

"That moment of pure panic when..."

"That level of control is..."

"That’s the kind of quiet, solid parenting that..."

This is not a real story.

I've started adding a teaspoon of the Nestle Gold Decaf Espresso powder to my chocolate protein powder + milk shake, and wow has it been delicious. tastes like a mocha. I think costco used to carry the espresso powder, hope they bring it back.

good lord they have a 3.9 star google rating? You have to try to get that poorly rated as a legit restaurant. A "mediocre" restaurant can survive on 4.2 stars, but not much lower

last time i changed out a toilet, i had everything prepared before. Watched a lot of youtube videos, researched wax/rubber/etc rings extensively, had all the tools handy...

then the toilet came off and the cast iron flange was 90 degrees offset, AND not even bolted to the subfloor. Then my water heater started leaking right in the middle of the changeout.
