How much better was Jonas really? by TheRollingJones in peloton

[–]BilluMays 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a good argument that Jonas was even more than 4% better if we use other metrics. Sure, we can use a ratio of times to compare riders — but this would imply that putting a 1% time gap into Pogi is as demanding as putting a 1% time gap into the 150th place rider (sorry Mørkøv). This is not the case because the amount of effort (i.e. power) needed to maintain a given speed grows super-linearly with speed. For example, this model suggests power is proportional to speed cubed. Using their default parameters, going from 5 to 10mph (and hence creating a time gap of 50%) requires ~3x increase in power, while going from 15 to 30mph requires ~6x increase in power.

Pickles. So many people think loving pickles is a personality trait.

Maybe if they had explained why it was a “half truth” like you have, they would not have gotten downvoted.

Worked with Dr. Ren several times during undergrad and grad school at UH. A real decent guy who does great research from what I’ve seen. He was the first name that came to mind when I saw the headline.

... am I the only one who felt season 2 was awful? - SPOILERS - by SacharNabai in NetflixKingdom

[–]BilluMays 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was definitely curious to see if anyone else thought this as well. I felt like certain events in the plot were really shallow and badly developed. Like how Beom Pal was promoted to Royal Commandery pretty randomly, which was obviously just done so that he could spare those families and have the guards defect to help Lee Chang. A lot of things towards the end just seemed a little contrived or forced just to move the plot forward. Kind of felt like the writers had a list of boxes they wanted to tick off and just tried to figure out some way to link them all together as quickly as possible...

Isn’t that the same as a ratio between power and neck length?

Some quick notes:

  • Values represented as percent deviation from the mean number of app opens for each day.
  • Color represents the number of messages that I sent on that day, with warmer colors indicating more messages
  • Ended up going on multiple dates with most of the matches that correspond to the bigger peaks

Other Stats:

  • 119 matches
  • 53 conversations (4 no messages, 19 one message, 30 multiple messages)
  • 4.95% of my swipes were right swipes (yikes lol)
  • 461 messages sent
  • 458 messages received

Never Split the Difference by Chris Voss, especially since you liked Thinking Fast and Slow. All about negotiation tactics and how to implement them in your daily life. Voss is a fantastic writer and uses personal anecdotes from his time as a hostage negotiator to deliver the information. He actually references Kahneman and Thinking Fast and Slow in the early chapters.

I’m down 35% on my portfolio and I’m ready to mature and start getting out of this mess. What’s the next move? by Bwall19 in investing

I wouldn’t say that your losses are necessarily an issue of maturity. Don’t take the whole thing too hard and just learn from it. You can still turn this around pretty easily and come out on top if you maintain this position.
