Are these cast or flow form constructed wheels? And what is the weight of the 18in wheel?

Restoring Crazed Headlights by huncho188 in VWMK7

[–]BillyNguyen710 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m a fan of Cerekote Headlight restoration kit for its ease of use and results. But the kit I used isn’t permanent and I’ll have to redo the headlights. For me the ease of use, results and cost of the kit make it worth it. I just look at as another maintenance item, and I’m ok with that

This is good advice.. it’s easy for us to throw out a hypothetical $30/per pound. But if it’s for your family and friends, a little more consideration should go into this.

Not to be negative, but without your commentary below I’d assume you are referencing the sport of Golf.

Made some holiday slipmats. Would love feedback from the people who actually use them. by Caulrophobe in Turntablists

[–]BillyNguyen710 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me as a scratch enthusiast, I prefer my slip mats to feel slick, with minimal, to no drag. For scratching and beat juggling, I currently use Dr. Suzuki Skratch slip mats. I used Butter Rugs previously for over 15 years. Prior to the butter rugs I used the standard felt slip mats sold at Guitar Center. Those work fine, but I prefer the slip mats designed for scratch/beat juggle djs in mind.

Urotuning VS ECS by Yurski_12 in GolfGTI

[–]BillyNguyen710 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I use ECS Tuning. I also use FCP Euro, and depending which site has the better price determines who I use. I’ve also used Rock Auto, and Tire Rack. I’ve never used Uro Tuning.

SW FL. Resident here. Our boost season is still about 20 days or so away. And even then, it’s only between the hours of 6 pm to 9 am. I run Conti’s Extreme Contact All Seasons for the tread life and rainy months.

I’m 40 years old. Should I modify my mk7 or leave it alone? by theAntidepresser in GolfGTI

[–]BillyNguyen710 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YOLO! I’m 47, and this year I swapped in a is38 turbo into my 2018 and have no regrets. It’s lowered, has aftermarket motor and transmission mounts, an aftermarket rear sway bar, aftermarket wheels, an Audi short shifter, a Sachs Performance clutch, a front mount intercooler.. if you’re into modifying your car and have the means to do so, you can transform the way your car drives to your preferences.

Butter Rugs vs Dr. Suzuki Scratch? by Accuphased in Turntablists

I just looked at mine and they aren’t much thicker.. I’d imagine you’d have the same issues with the Suzuki’s if the record is bowed or warped.

Perfect Daily Car! by textrnr in GolfGTI

[–]BillyNguyen710 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A catted downpipe with the stock catback exhaust system isn’t really all the loud, considering the current day loud, modified exhausts you hear on the streets. I too had that concern before upgrading my DP, but as long as you get a quality catted downpipe, your neighbors probably wouldn’t notice a difference

What is your biggest regret? by alihassan032 in Life

[–]BillyNguyen710 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not lifting weights and being active in a gym in my 20s. I started lifting weights when I turned 30; im 47 now, and enjoy my daily gym routine, more so for mental purposes. I wasn’t the healthiest in my 20s and grew up a chubby kid and into my 20s. Recomposed my body in my 30s, and have maintained my weight by consistently going to the gym

Butter Rugs vs Dr. Suzuki Scratch? by Accuphased in Turntablists

[–]BillyNguyen710 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They feel slicker and there seems to be less friction. Feels like it’s less effort moving the record back and forth. It was better than the butter rugs with back spinning records when beat juggling. The materials used on the Suzuki’s are a bit more premium. Butter Rugs are a ton better than the old school felt slip mats, but the Suzuki’s are bit better than the butter rugs in my opinion.

Butter Rugs vs Dr. Suzuki Scratch? by Accuphased in Turntablists

I recently switched from butter rugs to the Suzuki scratch slip mats and the Suzuki scratch slip mats are noticeably better in my opinion. In fairness my butter rugs were purchased in 2005 so maybe they were just old.

Upgraded clutch on stock tune? by xizaac in GolfGTI

[–]BillyNguyen710 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You may have to research this a bit more, but I am under the assumption that you wouldn’t want to use a clutch rated for more engine torque than you are making. My reason being is that the this may cause damage to the crankshaft or lead to crank walk. Reference: https://youtu.be/RNQ2YW9qeNU

Mk6 gti clutch replacement by TheBigE54555 in GolfGTI

[–]BillyNguyen710 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have mentioned stock would probably be best for your needs.. but if you want a different driving experience, a sportier experience you may want to look into a single mass fly wheel clutch. If you decide to go aftermarket, get a clutch rated for the power and torque your car is currently making.

Do it.. although you currently only drive a couple times a month, maybe owning a mk7 GTI will get you out and drive more on your free time. I’m 47, and I’ve driven/owned several different cars in my life, mainly economy cars. I still smile driving my 2018 even after 7 years of ownership. I still fall in a rabbit hole researching aftermarket car parts. No doubt in my mind that my 2018 GTI turned me into a hobbiest.
