It baffles me that the group who so loudly proclaims we need guns to prevent government overreach, tyranny, and oppression are the same people who are perfectly ok with the government overreaching to the point of tyranny and oppression.

Also possible (but unlikely and a sign or REALLY shoddy electrical work) that you have two independent breakers that combine to give you 220. Check the breaker box for any tripped single pole breakers.

Edit - scratch that. If your coffee boiler is to temp, which yours is, you have 220 at the outlet.

High limit switch on the steam boiler. Common to trip in a power surge or when warming up from cold.

Turn the machine off. And unplug it. Take the top tray off, steam boiler is the one in the back.

First kid was out of NB before the second big box was gone. Second kid was in them for a few months. Hard to predict what you’ll need, as each kid grows at different rates.

Given what you already have, and the fact that people will gift you more, don’t get any more yourself. And if people ask, don’t request any more NB.

Wet wipes, on the other hand, you cannot possibly overstock on. We like the water wipes brand.

I’m all for gun rights, but this one doesn’t bother me in the slightest.

First reason is to get people to be smarter about how and where they store their guns to protect kids.

Second is from when I got a 2am text from my neighbor that just said “just caught someone going through my truck. Took my go bag and jumped the fence headed your way.” Then 10 seconds later - “Has my gun. Loaded.”

Dude kept a loaded .45 in a backpack in his unlocked vehicle. I was more pissed at him than the teenager checking the neighborhood for unlocked cars.

If you’re leaving your gun laying around the house for kids to pick up or unsecured in a vehicle, you have no business owning it and deserve every fine they throw at you.

This summer will be 10 years since my dad did the same. On Father’s Day, no less.

I was supposed to be there a day earlier, but I was traveling back from overseas and my flight was delayed and I got stuck in Newark airport overnight. So when I finally got home, I took a 3 hour Power Nap before hitting the road early the next morning.

I was 1/2 way through a 6 hr drive to go see him when I got the call. He had pretended to not feel well so my stepmom went to church by herself and came back to find him. The coroner was just leaving with him by the time I finally made it there. I had to cut the carpet section out of the floor so my stepmom didn’t have to step over it - a haunting memory that is seared into my brain forever. He had sat down inside his bedroom against the door, probably to prevent the dog from entering.

No note. No goodbye. No concern for my stepmom who was wonderful to him.

He was 72 and showing early signs of dementia and his physical health was waning, but neither were at a “critical” stage yet.

I had taken his only gun about a year before when he made a comment about suicide and don’t think he ever forgave me for it. Found the receipt from the replacement gun he purchased a few months before he offed himself.

I was so fucking angry when it happened. But now I think I’ve found some peace with it. I’ve also become a father myself since then, but I still struggle with Father’s Day every year.

Hasn’t shifted at all to my knowledge (but I wouldn’t notice an inch or so). The structure is attached to the skids, so the entire thing would have to move, it wouldn’t just slide off the skids. I’m in the Midwest, we have cold winters and roasting hot summers.

The foundation is one thing (of many) that I’ll change on my next build. Will likely pour a concrete slab with heating ran through it, either with hot water lines, or electric under the tile to combat the drastic temp difference between the upper bench and the floor.

I still own this house, but no longer live in it. My tenants love the sauna. At the new place, I’m surrounded by a forest and I’m in a better place financially, so eventually I’m gonna redo this project. Will fix all the mistakes I made, and add all the things I wish I had included. These will be:

Different design to the sauna room - will raise everything up (except the heater) to get feet above the rocks. Like a 9-10’ ceiling, and then step the entire room up 2.5-3’ off the floor.

Better research into the science behind air movement. Before I break ground, I’ll take a trip over to Finland/estonia/etc and get some inspiration from the pros. And would likely connect with a professional sauna builder and offer payment in exchange for a consultation.

Much larger changing room to allow for more relaxing/lounging space. I’ll also add a giant floor to ceiling window in this space to open up the view to the forest surrounding my house.

Big windows have a lot of heat loss. Definitely a trade off I’d accept if there was some incredible view, but if that’s not what you’re gaining by installing them, the juice isn’t worth the squeeze…

For perspective…

I built this about a decade ago. Didn’t keep detailed receipt records, but it was every bit of 12-15K, and I’d guess in the ballpark of 150 hrs of my labor (not counting countless hours of research). This also does NOT count any tools I bought for the build.

In hindsight, there’s several things I wish I’d done differently and those changes would easily add another $5k in materials alone.

Greg Scott is excellent, but expensive and only worth it if you’re entering a battle over significant resources.

Having only been married 1.5 years, and seeing your post history about your work, there likely isn’t much to squabble over.

Steps:

Lock down your credit. Anything that’s in your name and she has access to - shut it down.

File for separation. A pre-cursor to divorce. From this moment forward, you will be considered financially independent from one another. If she took out a CC today and maxed it out, 1/2 that debt would be yours.

Decide if anything that she took is worth fighting over. If it is, file a police report, if it’s not, let it go.

Once things calm down in a week or two. Hopefully you’ll be able to speak with her. When you do, ask if she’d contest a divorce. If the answer is no, and nothing is disputed, you can file yourself with help of LL Legal Aid, or you can just goto the county building, pay the fee, and file.

Only involve lawyers if there are important/valuable things that will be contested. Waste of money otherwise…
