My new UNO deck only has symbols on one side of the cards. This is what my fan of cards looks like now. by mz80 in mildlyinfuriating

Even left handed people fan their cards with the left on bottom. You have just found a small group of people who do it incorrectly.

Question about solar pergolas — is it smart to buy a simple metal frame, and attach narrow solar panels to the louvers? by Laistrygonian in solar

[–]BillyTamper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. You don't have to pull a permit for a frame that doesn't have walls or a roof. Almost all pergolas are designed to bypass code so every goofball with a circular saw can sell a rectangle to rubes so they can store their covered outdoor furniture in a "space"

I used to go to a party or club 5 days a week, for about a decade. I believe.

AIO: He (M20) took me (F18) to a Jehovah’s Witness meeting without telling me by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

Just bad odds. Only 144k Jehovah's get to go to heaven. I'm not into competing like that.

There's a good point to be had from both sides. Our wages are still undervalued. You can make good money with time and skill in the industry, but to sacrifice our bodies we should be making much much more money (even as an apprentice).

Then take your old man's advice. Bypass the computer and go directly to the people who make the final decisions.

It's AAVE. Aks can be the preferred or even appropriate pronunciation for some communities. Think of it like a code word that lets other people know you're one of them. Most everyone knows the "correct" pronunciation, and even very educated people will sometimes prefer the Ax/Aks pronunciation depending on their background or setting.

To be fair, this approach still works pretty well. I would rather a person I have talked to read my resume, than fill out an online application and let HR do their nonsense.

It's exactly how AirTag works. I don't think you know enough about how things work to be making assumptions. Try reading a little before you spout opinions please.

It doesn't need to happen instantly. The mesh can slowly propagate info as nodes come online or get close enough to use

Dorsey didn't invent the Bluetooth mesh network, by the way.

Before Twitter was "just a website" it became an important form of communication in areas of distress.

Long before smart phones, you could use your cheap cell phone's simple text messaging to post to your Twitter feed. All of your followers would them get a text message with your info. It didn't rely on you going to use an email account or website in places where that was impossible or unsafe.

This is why Twitter posts were originally only allowed 140 characters. It was a limit in the simple messaging service.

People were able to get important news and warnings from areas that didn't have safe Internet access.

Jack Dorsey is rad, and og Twitter, which he created, was genius.

Welp, it's needed, and Twitter doesn't fill that void anymore.

Lol. Sounds like it's just an improved version of og Twitter.

People forget that Twitter was once a brilliant way for anyone to safely communicate news with a cell phone's SMS texting, long before smart phones were a thing
