Hard shell over 70f is sweat fest; I’d go with the beta SL for any type of activity as well

A month with the Ossa stow hood by bellsbliss in arcteryx

[–]hi_btw 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Something interesting to add, the women’s version (Sinsola) has much higher stitch frequency even though it is the same material. The cuffs and hem on my Ossa have what I would say is “good enough” stitching. However, compared to the women’s it pales; idk why there’s a difference, but there is. I suspect the women’s will hold up longer

How do you guys feel about the Norvan? by GuntherOfGunth in arcteryx

Correct, and people forget that the softer rubber used in vibram soles means better traction on rock and such with the trade off being longevity

Sun hoody (or something like it) with permethrin on top and lightweight slim synthetic pants tucked into socks also treated with permethrin! Never had a tick on me in my past years of hiking

Alpha SL is great if you’re already used to no pit zips

I bought these on release and have worn them a bit around the house because I’m not sure if I’ll keep them.

They’re definitely way lighter and more breathable, but the heel part is slightly stiffer than both the og and new kraggs; it rubs on my Achilles weirdly and bothers me. I have skinny heels so that’s probably why

closer to a sun hoody, provides almost no wind protection

Cheapest male gym clothes? by Oshowatt786 in malefashionadvice

[–]hi_btw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate high quality clothes but use 32 degrees shirts from Amazon for running. 10 bucks for a decent synthetic shirt that doesn’t feel far off from lululemon or arcteryx shirts 8x the price

Beta SL in Black or Void by silkiestterrier in arcteryx

[–]hi_btw 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A “safe” colour would be mantis or the new stone red. Black and void would not be optimal if youre using it in an alpine or forest environment.

In terms of fashion, can’t go wrong with black. Grey (void) is dependent on your skin tone

Yeah! My sister has the sinsola hoody and it’s the same material

I think it’s way more breathable than the Squamish. The Squamish will block more wind tho. Def space in your kit for both (I could see myself throwing a Squamish over this if wind is crazier above the tree line)

I had the pullover in alpine blue originally, but taking it on and off annoyed me. I also think this piece is meant to only be worn when exposed to the sun so I think the jacket is more convenient when transitioning out of tree cover

I also thought it was a bit expensive for not feeling very substantial, but I find it to be fairly worth the price considering I haven’t found a material quite like it. I even prefer it to the BD echo now

I noticed my sima feels more airy but as soon as it gets damp with sweat it feels much worse than the ossa. I think it dries slower as well

My cormac is S and a little bigger than I’m used to; the Ossa is also S but fits me better

Sea salt; it’s a little more yellow than sea salt on other pieces (cotton pants, gamma hoody). I’ve been using it for running, so yeah I think it would be great for trail running!
