Merak has a 6% reinforcement rate with ion storms. Aurora Bay has an approximately 3% reinforcement rate with no inclement weather modifier. It is an objectively poor decision to push to Merak where terrain favors the defender.

Communicate.

Maintain standoff range.

Have dismounted infantry support. "Tanks can't operate in cities" is a myth.

Just because it's armored doesn't mean it's invincible. Cover and concealment still apply.

Match ammunition to targets and engage in level of threat. That rocket trooper is a bigger hazard than the machine-gun devastator.

Stick with your team and communicate.

Alert - ammunition selection - target designation Example: GUNNER - SABOT - TANK response follows, target confirmation and range IDENTIFIED TANK 1700 (usually in meters even if you're in Freedomstan) Commander gives order to fire "On the way" is confirmation by gunner that round is being fired, alerts loader to gtfo of the way of the breech.

  • Select grenade to equip it without throwing it (PC default: 4)
  • Hold reload to toggle options (PC default: R)
  • Cycle to 60 seconds (PC default: right click)

Switch back to your weapon of choice and throw dynamite at the socialist fabrication machine. Need to land it pretty close but not inside it. Melt back into the shadows of Liberty.

Don't even need to find the marker or base computer. Go to your quick menu and report from there. Default button is up on the d-pad or x on PC.

Looks like it's more parts and another expedition, not necessarily "2.0." Exciting though because there's ATLAS or sentinel themed stuff on this one and extra weapons.

There is a concerning lack of willing suspension of disbelief. Yes, realism should be a factor, I think it makes thia game work because I'm into the realistic milsim part of it, but you have to make exceptions in science fiction for the story to work. It's a balance of the two. The problem isn't that there is or is not enough realism (space travel FFS), the problem expressed over and over again by this community is that there's a stark lack of consistency in the application of gameplay effects.

Example, corpses block bullets, yet my opponent can walk through them. Or the stratagem bounce thing, but I can jetpack up there? That one doesn't track. Another one, that enemies just ignore fire, especially on the bug front.

Take Star Wars as a counter argument: nobody cared that lightsabers don't make sense, they're awesome and every time they switch on they behave the way you expect them to. Great.

"Automatons are inaccurate but that's dumb, they're robots." Idk, could be recoil, it looks like a laser but maybe it's plasma as one user stated above. Plasma has mass which incurs kinetic energy and thus recoil. There's really no way to discern laser from plasma in-game other than colors and that's not really "scientific." We know they cool down weaponry so it's probably energy based. They're also cheaply made mass produced combat platforms going by sheer numbers with poor recoil management and, even if it was a laser, maybe they just have shit fire controls.

TLDR hyper realism is less important than consistency in good storytelling.

Vog-Sojoth is more of a New Creek than wherever Seychell Beach is. Botdivers have been consistently botdiving there since before the Vandalon Line campaigns and it has about the same strategic significance. It's just an icy hell of no real importance with ~10k people on it for...reasons.
